Luke 21:8
"Take heed you be not seduced, for many will come in my name,
saying I am He, and the time is at hand: do not follow them."

revelation of St. John, revelation to St. John, the book of revelation,
the apocolype of John, 1:3
"Blessed is he that readeth and heareth the words of this prophecy,
and keepeth those things which are written in it: for the time is at hand."

revelation of St. John, revelation to St. John, the book of revelation,
the apocolypse of John, 22:10
"And he said to me, 'Seal not the words of the phophecy of
this book: for the time is at hand."

Our brother Luke is warning us to not follow false prophets and be seduced by those
who claim to be God and/or use a specific 5 word phrase "the time is at hand"?
And the book of revelation uses the phrase "the time is at hand" twice, once in the first chapter and once in the last....doesn't this make the book of revelation a false prophecy, from beginning to end?

I can untangle this, but that would include a lot of tedious typing and explanation. :p
Then those who disagree would pile on with their matted up balls of yarn to untangle.
And well....eh...just too much for me .

One side will say the near/soon/at hand language is spoken from God's perspective, thus we need to view it through that lens.

Another side views Rev as written before AD70, and they view it as a prophecy about the coming judgement on Jerusalem that happened in AD70, thus the near/soon/at hand language as spoken to us from our perspective isn't a lie, considering Jerusalem was sacked in AD70.

So that's an in a nutshell answer without all of the tedious stuff behind it.

Funny...I don't recall ANY brand new members who on thier "very first day" start two new threads, both of which are designed to be controversial, and both quesioning the validity of God's Word, do you guys???
Old saying, "if it walks like an atheist troll who's recently been banned, and talks like an atheist troll who's recently been banned..." Well, I'm sure you catch my meaning, eh??? \o/

I can assure you, I am not an atheist, nor have I been banned from this site.........yet anyhow.
Jesus Christ is My Father, I am who I say I am, one of his sons. I asked the questions to know the interpretation others have of certain bible verses.

"both quesioning the validity of God's Word"
Christ says do not follow those who say "the time is at hand."
The first and the last chapter of the book of revelation specifically use this phrase? Why?
I am not questioning the validity of God's Word. What I questioned was whether the book of revelation is the word of God at all based on the testimony of the Apostle Luke.

Revelation was written through John by the Holy Ghost.......Throughout the Bible it is talking about Jesus comi, death, and coming back again. So yes it does

"Your profile says you were "saved" TODAY"

Years ago I was praying and I asked God when am I going to die? He said "Today."
I asked Him why Today..... He said "Because yesterday you sinned."
I am a sinner, forgiveness is a process, repentance is a process, and Today I die into Him.
Sometimes God answers my prayers in a sarcastic way that teach me exactly what I needed to know.
