Okay so i am going to study the book of revelations. I tell you i started reading it and got a couple of interpretations but soon my mind became stressed as this is a very complex and difficult book. I mean WOW is it hard, but I also want to find the hidden secrets more than i hate this complexity. I told god before I started reading( and bear in mind I am doing this WITH god) Where others have failed( finding the secrets of revelations) I will not. What is the blessings promised from reading this book? I have no idea but i am sure i will find out. Why has the secrets of this book eluded so many before me- even very wise and insightful men and woman?who knows. Well whatever the reason I know anything is possible with God, There has to be a reason this book is so deep and so difficult to understand, there has to be a secret hidden in there that no one has been able to find yet. Anyone wanna join me in this dive into revelations go ahead, after all there are blessings promised:]

Blain, I told you before, read the rest of the Bible before tackling Revelations. It's at the back of God's Word for a reason (also, everything that comes before helps to inform you of what's happening).

Revelation--the Most misunderstood book and most misinterpreted book of the Bible....do NOT put your presuppositions into the book if you want to get something out of it. Don't try to decode the book either. Don't try to figure out end times dates or the order of end times events. That's not the purpose of the book. The main purpose is to basically establish God/Jesus is Lord of all and He will win the fight in the end when earth has been brought through restoration and recreation.

Revelation is about revealing Jesus as it says in Revelation 1:1. It is not about hidden secrets of world events but reveals that regardless of what is happening Jesus is the center of all hope

However Jesus would call upon the wisdom of the father if he didn't understand something. Just because i do not understand does not mean won't. Does it not promise blessings?

Learn about Jesus' life, His sayings and teachings, how He lived and interacted with people and God. Found yourself on that, for it is that point from which all the rest of the Bible is to be interpreted. In His life and Words are the explaination to all the other pages.

build your basic eschatological framework from the -clear- end time passages first...such as in the teaching of jesus and paul and peter and john...-then- fit revelation in...

I just don't understand the insane attraction to the prophetic books. Yes, they're good and worthwhile but there's so much more to the Bible. The prophetic books only take up a small part of God's Word. The rest includes history, poems, songs, parables and the like.

Tintin, I don't mean to be rude, but, the last days is where we are and should be discussed more than ever.

Prophecies are words from God and therefor eternal. In that sense a little prophecy goes a looong way. Too, end times prophecies describe only a small portion of mans history, so there doesn't need to be a whole lot about it. And since most of us believe we are in the end times, it's only natural that they are forefront in mind now.

Each of the 7 churches have different circumstances, each are given a promise to the overcomer. Revelation 12 says we overcome by the blood of the Lamb, so regardless of our circumstances by the blood of the Lamb we can overcome.

Actually Tintin, i have found the entire bible has end time prophesies in it. Maybe not every single book but a lot of them do. Your right there is a reason it's in the back, because pretty much most of the bible's prophets words are being symbolized in that book

Yes, but it seems to me, judging by the number of prophecy and end times threads at CC, that people are putting too much of a focus on these things and not enough of a focus on Jesus himself. Also, there is much more to the Bible than just prophecies.

Perhaps that may be true for some people but not me, my focus is always on him. Sure i talk alot about the end times but my heart is crying to him in love even as I type these things. The only reason I want the rapture to happen is to be with him, the only reason i want to know end times is because like most people we want to know how long until we can go home. No one knows the day nor hour but he doesn't just leave us in the dark either. The bible is far more than prophesies. It's basicly a love letter full of knowledge and wisdom from god

It is difficult and deep to keep the shallow and carnal from discerning and abusing it's message.

Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand. And in them is fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, By hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive: For this people's heart is waxed gross, and [their] ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should understand with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them. i don't want to discourage you from your studies...but listen to the folks here.
the Book of Revelation should be read much later in your studies.
you'll find parallel references pointing to it from other books, and that's good to check.

but it's not what you think it is.

some ppl just go haywire when they read it.

it's a book of comfort and reassurance, and confirms the Lord's victory.
it tells the Redemption Story several times in several ways.

but it's extremely complex in structure and is filled with illustrations and symbols.

try Isaiah first - the same teachings are there and it's much clearer, and you will see Jesus everywhere:)

and honestly, though the Lord could return tomorrow, we all have an "end-time" to consider long before that:)

each of us will see the Lord before the Second Advent, is my hunch:)
