This could be of interest to those who like to find little gems within scripture, I'm posting the basics maybe others might want to join in and find the relevant sections in the OT that speak about the same place and its relevance to the NT.
the brook was between the garden and the temple, Gethsemane is positioned on the slopes of the Mount of Olives directly west of the Temple and about one-fifth of a mile from the Temple. The Temple was the highest point in Jerusalem and it would be very much in view from the Garden. Between the Temple and the Garden was the Kidron Valley,,, a wadi (a wash that was dry except for the heavy winter rains, when it could become a wild river). some other info, around 250,000 lambs were sacrificed in a typical Passover season and the blood and water used for the ritual cleansing,,, where did all that liquid go?
It Drained from the altar area carried to the Kidron Valley just outside of the Temple mount walls! side note Kidron means “black brook” or “gloomy brook” perhaps named so because of the crimson-stained banks.
John18:1
New Living Translation
After saying these things, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples and entered a grove of olive trees.
John 18:1
King James Bible
When Jesus had spoken these words, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where was a garden, into the which he entered, and his disciples
