The chariots of God may have something to do with the Holy Spirit as well. This would not be a lifeless chariot, but would be the Holy Spirit Himself as a chariot.

Notice how the supernatural orb resembles an eyeball:

It appears that most of the work of the Spirit of truth here on earth is bearing witness.
