God's gambit

A gambit is a strategic move, often in chess but also in politics or business, where a player sacrifices something up front for future gain.

In biblical terms a cosmic gambit happened when God the Father sacrificed His Son...

John 3:16 KJVS
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Colossians 2:14-15 KJVS
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; [15] And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

2 Corinthians 13:4 KJVS
[4] For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

Philippians 2:8-9 KJVS
[8] And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. [9] Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:

1 Corinthians 2:8 KJVS
[8] Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it , they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.

It seems God is a great chess player with the ultimate "Gambit"..He had His moves all planned out and finished before the foundation of the world....now that is the ultimate in "gamitting"..:)..

Revelation 13:8 (KJV)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Hebrews 4:3 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP] For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

Ephesians 1:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

True, but as in businesses, chess or God, the actual Gambit happens at the moment of sacrifice. For example in chess, I might offer my knight in sacrifice but it is not a gambit until the opponent falls for the trap and takes my knight.
I suppose with God you can try to argue we had no other choice than to kill His Son. But I won't.

I've long believed the Lord is doing a cosmic "rope a dope" on the world. Look at the first advent of our Lord Jesus, which came at a time when Israel was in an Old Testament dark age of sorts, the Old Testament book closed over 400 years earlier, hardly expecting God to come on the scene. The Lord Jesus turned the world upside down, in around three years. The end times will be the same. God has allowed the world to become fat and self-sufficient, steeped in materialistic, Godless explanations of everything, "God is dead," thinking itself too sophisticated for old books anymore, but the Lord will come again, quickly, and the world "ain't seen nothin' yet" this next unexpected episode that ropes the dopes. I believe the seeming long silence of the Lord in world affairs is a brilliant strategy, that separates the truly faithful, who believe in Him and His word for righteousness' sake, from the unbelieving world, that will only believe by insincere sight, that it is a snare being set.

That reminds me of this verse...

Ecclesiastes 8:11 KJVS
[11] Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

Well, it's so! The world and its leaders are thinking they're the big dogs on the block, if God does exist, He's in a corner somewhere, struggling to find talking points for an emergency cabinet meeting in heaven, and He's got no nukes, anyway. Far be it for anybody to point out Israel didn't get back to Jerusalem in a vacuum, and that one angel can slay 185,000 Assyrians, without breaking a sweat (2 Kings 19:35). They're just not listening, with their homo marriage, etc., but, "Your arms are too short to box with God." This is why people have to learn the hard way, as Einstein, even absent God, had the sense to notice, "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I’m not sure about the former."

There's a reason God specializes in gambits...

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
(1Co 1:25)

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: That no flesh should glory in his presence.
(1Co 1:27-29)

*warning, derail*

When reading gambits I cannot help but think of Final Fantasy
and I remember all the times I have wished that we could fight evil in a more literal sense...
imagine how much easier it was if we could just attack anything with a red stat bar and that was the way to "win" life

Of course we do realise that the Kings gambit isnt actually like a real game of chess. Where even in the gambit you stand a chance of losing. The real King doesn't lose nor puts anything to gamble..He is definitive and decisive.
