1 peter 2:24 "Who his own self BARE OUR SINS in his own body on THE TREE, that WE, being DEAD TO SINS, should LIVE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS: by whose stripes YE WERE HEALED."

Matthew 26:56 "But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples FORSOOK HIM, and fled....And they that had laid hold on Jesus led him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death; But found none: yea, though many false witnesses came, yet found they none...."But he held his peace, and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked him, and said unto him, Art thou THE CHRIST, the SON OF THE BLESSED? And Jesus said, I AM: and ye shall see the Son of man sitting on the RIGHT HAND of power, and coming in the clouds of heaven.....And they all condemned him to be guilty of death. And some began to SPIT ON HIM, and to cover his face, and to BUFFET HIM, and to say unto him, Prophesy: and the servants did STRIKE HIM with the palms of their hands.

"And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate...... and he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time. And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently ACCUSED HIM. And Herod with his men of war SET HIM AT NOUGHT, and MOCKED HIM, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate."

"Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?.........Jesus answered, My kingdom is NOT OF THIS WORLD...... Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou a king then? Jesus answered, Thou sayest that I am a king. TO THIS END was I born, and for THIS CAUSE came I into the world, that I SHOULD BEAR WITNESS UNTO THE TRUTH. Every one that is of the TRUTH HEARETH MY VOICE. ..."Pilate saith unto them, What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ? They all say unto him, Let him be crucified. And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified."

"Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the common hall, and gathered unto him the whole band of soldiers. And they STRIPPED HIM, and put on him a scarlet robe. And when they had platted a CROWN OF THORNES, they put it upon his head, and a reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and MOCKED HIM, saying, Hail, King of the Jews! And they SPIT ON HIM, and TOOK THE REED, and SMOTE HIM ON THE HEAD. And after that they had MOCKED HIM, they took the robe off from him, and put his own raiment on him, and led him away TO CRUCIFY HIM."

"And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha......Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. And they that passed by REVILED HIM, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. Likewise also the chief priests MOCKING HIM, with the scribes and elders, said, HE SAVED OTHERS; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God."

"Then said Jesus, FATHER, FORGIVE THEM; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God. And the soldiers also MOCKED HIM, coming to him, and offering him vinegar" Now from the sixth hour there was FARKNESS over all the land unto the ninth hour. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, MY GOD, MY GOD, why hast thou forsaken me?"

Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. Jesus, when he had CRIED AGAIN with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the VEIL OF THE TEMPLE WAS RENT IN TWAIN FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM ; and the earth did QUAKES, and THE ROCKS RENT; And THE GRAVES WERE OPENED; and many bodies of the SAINTS which slept arose, And came OUT OF THE GRAVES after HIS RESURRECTION, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God."

2 corinthains 5:14-15 "For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: And that he died for all, that they which live should NOT henceforth live unto themselves, but UNTO HIM which died for them, and rose again."

and the word was made flesh......Luke 24:44-49 "And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were WRITTEN in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning ME. 45Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand THE SCRIPTURES, 46And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved CHRIST TO SUFFER, and to RISE from the dead the third day:47And that REPENTANCE and REMISSION of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. 48And ye are witnesses of these things. 49And, behold, I send the PROMISE OF MY FATHER upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high."

Genesis 1:2-3 "And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the SPIRIT of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God SAID, Let there be LIGHT: and there was LIGHT."

john 8:12 "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I AM THE LIGHT of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the LIGHT of life."

Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. And God SAID, Let us make man in OUR IMAGE, after our LIKENESS:

John 1:1-4 "In the beginning was the WORD, and the Word was WITH GOD, and the WORD WAS GOD. 2The same was in the beginning WITH GOD. 3All things were made by HIM; and without HIM was not any thing made that was made.4In HIM was life; and the life was the LIGHT OF MEN. 5And the LIGHT shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not."

genesis 1:3-4 "
And God SAID, Let there be LIGHT: and there was LIGHT. 4And God saw the LIGHT, that it was GOOD: and God divided the LIGHT from the darkness."

isaiah 60:1-3 "
Arise, shine; for THY LIGHT IS COME, and the GLORY OF THE LORD IS RISEN upon thee. For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD SHALL ARISE upon thee, and HIS GLORY SHALL BE SEEN UPON THEE. And the Gentiles shall come to THY LIIGHT, and kings to the brightness of thy rising."

Acts 26:18 "To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to LIGHT, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are SANCTIFIED BY FAITH that is in ME."

colossians 1:12-13 "
Giving thanks unto THE FATHER which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in LIGHT: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the KINGDOM OF HIS DEAR SON."

Isaiah59:16- 21 "And he saw that there was no man, and wondered that there was no intercessor: therefore HIS ARM brought salvation unto him; and his righteousness, it sustained him.17For he put on righteousness as a BREASTPLATE, and a HELMET OF SALVATION upon his head; and he put on the garments of vengeance for clothing, and was clad with zeal as a cloke.18According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. 19So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.
20And THE REDEEMER shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.21As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and MY WORDS WICH I HAVE PUT IN THY MOUTH shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and FOR EVER".

Don't forget Simon of Cyrene, someone who isnt mentioned much in modern dialog, Jesus loves him as well for what he did inside the walls of Jerusalem.

The love of Christ IS the love of God, because Jesus Christ IS God.

"This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you." (John 15:12-14)

“One who has been touched by grace will no longer look on those who stray as ‘those evil people’ or ‘those poor people who need our help.’ Nor must we search for signs of ‘loveworthiness.’ Grace teaches us that God loves because of who God is, not because of who we are.” Philip Yancey

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

yep thats actually in 3 gospel accounts, I chose johns account for this post because john was present at the cross, . i think when we see differences in the gospels its because of the different perspectives of the writers and none of them saw everything that was going on. to me simon is a good image of us picking up our cross as well. but thats just my own view. im glad you mentoned him.
