Only God is so long suffering.
Galatians 5: (KJV)

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

Really, I didn't read all the thread, by have checked this out then and again, and it seems that maybe there was some dispute as to whether we are part of the covenant, with respect to having anything to do with drafting it, which we didn't. Our input to God's covenant, when we don't even seek Him, is an absurdity, but I wasn't seeing anybody exactly saying this. Also, a covenant has parties to it, so, of course, we're part of it, like the children of Israel the law, again, second parties. So the covenant is God's, with us, for us, but not us from the standpoint of setting any terms. Then there's the final analysis: what on earth are you guys talking about, anyway? LOL!
The new covenant involves Jesus and us. No one comes unto the Father but by Him. Semantics arrived to stir the pot. Elin kept changing the name of the thread to "the new covenant of Christ Jesus." I named the thread for a reason. I tried to explain the yoke Jesus asked us to take upon ourselves. And the thread was for the intent of walking with Jesus. "The New Covenant With Christ Jesus. I think that makes sense but as you can tell the thread has certainly been derailed. LOL

It wouldn't have worked without Him.

The New Covenant With Christ Jesus
I believe the "With" maybe got you in trouble. I would have used "in Christ Jesus." Such irony, how this whole bloodbath could have perhaps been avoided by two letters. O ye of little precision...

I know, but I was led to find the thread getting fruity enough.

Perty good sum 'em up of what I bees a sayin' when ah sed:

Actually, God cut the new covenant (Jer 31:31-34) in the blood of Christ,
the very blood which atoned for the sin of those who believe in him (Ro 3:25).

Christ is the mediator, not the author, of the new covenant between God and believers.
And believers are recipients of the new covenant, which Christ mediates between them and God.
There is no performance of good works required of them to enter into the new covenant,
they enter only by faith in Jesus Christ.

All covenants are under the eternal cov. of Grace. The Fall of Adam into sin, was caused by God so God could put into place His eternal cov. of Grace. The new cov. with / in Jesus is the last, temporal, form of the eternal cov. of Grace. Salvation has always had the unconditional side of God's grace and the conditional side of man. So the N.C. is made with the elect of God, it will end when no more elect are lost, needing salvation, But in eternity the Grace of God will always be celebrated, Jesus will always be honored as our Savior and God. Love to all Hoffco

With the new Covenant Jesus made His Gospel Actually alive, Thats why it says Faith comes by hearing the Word of God, it goes into your heart, and either grows or dies, the old testament cannot go into your heart and grow, which is what is suppose to happen from the New Testament, Jesus GAVE us so much more than the old ever could, James said to be a do'er of the Word, which part of the old are you going to do............ I liked post #18

Very well put, thank you. God has always wanted a close relationship with His creation, and the focus of that creation is mankind, being unique above all creation. Grace always accompanies true love. We are wonderfully made to respond to His love by our own volition. "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made : marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalms 139:14

Isaiah 42:1-9
1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold ; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth ; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.
2 He shall not cry , nor lift up , nor cause his voice to be heard in the street.
3 A bruised reed shall he not break , and the smoking flax shall he not quench : he shall bring forth judgment unto truth.
4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged , till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law.
5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out ; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein:
6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and *give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house.
8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
9 Behold, the former things are come to pass , and new things do I declare : before they spring forth I tell you of them.

*How can Jesus — a person — be an agreement?

The Bible calls Jesus a mediator, a go-between. A mediator’s purpose is to get two parties to relate positively to each other. His work is what causes the barriers to come down and the relationship to bear positive fruit. Jesus was the greatest diplomat, the brilliant negotiator of the greatest covenant, or agreement, in human history. Jesus could do that because he was both God and human. He was not only able to represent both parties, he was able to be both parties. As God, he did what only God could do: forgive us. As a human, he did what humanity was supposed to do: respond perfectly.

Colossains 1:12-13
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Without Christ Jesus, we are disqualified. But He is qualified, because He is the Son of God, and He has united himself to us. By becoming one of us, taking our sins on himself, dying in our place and being raised to glory, He has perfected us and taken us up into himself. Because we are now, as believers, united with him, we are qualified to be in his kingdom.

Ephesians 2:5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved).

Answered above.

The Bible calls Jesus a mediator, a go-between. A mediator’s purpose is to get two parties to relate positively to each other. His work is what causes the barriers to come down and the relationship to bear positive fruit. Jesus was the greatest diplomat,
the brilliant negotiator of the greatest covenant, or agreement, in human history.
Jesus did not negotiate the new covenant, any more than Moses, the mediator, negotiated
the Sinaitic covenant.

God declared the covenant to Moses,
who then declared it to the people,
who then committed to its terms, and
the covenant was then cut (ratified) in animal blood,
and then Moses mediated between God and the people in covenant with God.

God declared the coming of the new covenant to Jeremiah,
who then declared its coming to the people (Jer 31:31-34),
the covenant was then cut (ratified) in the blood of Christ,

who is its Guarantee, High Priest and Mediator,
guaranteeing the terms of the covenant secured by his sacrifice,
based on his eternal never-ending office of High Priest of the new covenant,
mediating between God and the recipients in covenant with God.

And the child grew , and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned , the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance. And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him. And it came to pass , that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions . And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers. And when they saw him, they were amazed : and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold , thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.” (Luke 2:40-52)

This passage contains information about our Lord's life until the commencement of His ministry at about age thirty, is revealing. For one thing, we see the load that our Lord had to carry in terms of His family life. He was the Son of God, and His answer to His parents indicates that He was fully aware of these facts. In order to be qualified to be our sin-bearer He had to live an absolutely perfect life, free from any sin and had to be the perfect son, even as He prepared to fulfill His obligations perfectly. This meant obeying His parents when they were right – and when they were wrong. As Jesus perfectly negotiated the mundane hours, days, weeks, months and years until He came upon the scene to fulfill His ministry years later, without question He never did wrong, either by omission or commission. However, people being the imperfect creatures that we are, there must have times He had to endure the faulty conclusions, impressions, of others He had to interact with. He had to interact with His earthy parents in an obedient and submissive way even where He was in the right and they were in the wrong. It is also of noteworthy that our Lord had greater understanding of the Word than any scholar in Jerusalem by the time He was only twelve years old. He still had to live 18 years more in preparation before beginning His ministry. He faced the most important task for our sakes, such as none other could accomplish. The magnitude of the degree of preparation necessary to successfully negotiate the reason He was born is beyond human comprehension. Praise His holy name.

Only when viewed from a human point of view.

For God the Father worked it in the perfect humanity of God the Son, through God the Holy Spirit.
