There is much said in our forums about the last days. You know, about the people with the itching ears. Here's the Scripture on it.

2 Timothy 4:3-4 [SUP]3 [/SUP]For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; [SUP]4 [/SUP]And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

We see the many false teachers and prophets that are out there giving the people their "feel good". But do we know that there's more than one way to do that? Let me give you an example:
How many people remember Jimmy Swaggart in his early days? My mom and dad watched him all the time, though they were not saved. I used to hear them talk back to the TV, saying, "Get 'em!" "You tell 'em!" "Oh, he's preaching hot tonight!" They watched him because they enjoyed how he preached about churches and slam them for their sins and even slammed his own denomination! He would judge, rant and rave about every sin under the sun. In short, they were being entertained.

That type of preaching is also ear tickling and ear scratching, because all it does is entertain the hearers.

I've noticed on Christian Chat the same thing happens. The funny thing is, those who say they hate ear scratching are eating it up. People get in the forums and slam anything they don't like, and when you look under their statements, the "likes" are everywhere. People who call themselves dedicated Christians are posting their "likes" on trash! Don't they realize they're fulfilling Scripture? I think the church really needs to take another look at this.

I hate to be the 'devils advocate' on this post. But, first off you are kind of doing the same thing when you say
People get in the forums and slam anything they don't like, and when you look under their statements, the "likes" are everywhere.
Yes some people here will get under your nerve's. Some people might even seem as if they are the devil themselves. But posting a thread saying that they are wrong and you are right... To me that seems a little bit prideful. To be honest I have looked at 1 verse and read it one way and the next day i read it a totally different way. Does this mean I was less Christlike one day then the other? NO it just means I am on a different path this day. And God has something new to tell me.

The books of Matthew and Mark talk a lot about; Not engaging in prophecies and to not listen to those who scream them. They teach that each will see the prophecy be full filled. Each will know the prophecy is full filled.
(Each=Christians)

Idk what I am talking about anymore, in fact I am just as wrong as you or anyone else. So I should not have any room to speak. I just see a lot of posts about; this group is damned this person is wrong. AND MY GROUP IS ALWAYS RIGHT.
And for some reason I decided to lash out at your's. My apologies... (Even though I posted it :( )

The preacher is not responsible if the people will not hear. The preacher is responsible to teach sound doctrine to reprove, to rebuke to exhort with all long-suffering and doctrine. Those who endeavor to do this will no doubt suffer persecution and tribulation in this world. Much of which will come from within the church that is supposed to receive it. Amos 3:3 can two walk together except they be agreed.
The churches have largely abandoned preaching and teaching sound doctrine and have taken to entertainment to attract crowds. In place of taking the gospel to the world they have brought the world and its ways into what used to be the church. Give a kid a steady diet of sugary treats and then wonder why he won't eat his peas and carrots. Well I digress. Let's see what this thread develops.

Allow me to be facetious and give you the unlucky 13 “Don’t worry about it syndrome” from teachers that scratch those itching ears.
1.Don’t worry about it. It’s the book of Hebrews, not the book of Gentiles.
2.Don’t worry about it. We’ll be gone before it gets real bad.
3.Don’t worry about it. Jesus took it all and you’re not held accountable for your actions.
4.Don’t worry about it. Jesus is the end of the law, so you need not pay attention to it.
5.Don’t worry about it. You’ll get a crown and be able to walk the streets of gold.
6.Don’t worry about it. There is no fear when you love God.
7.Don’t worry about it. The Spirit teaches us how to love our brother.
8.Don’t worry about it. The Jewish examples are a thing of the past.
9.Don’t worry about it. There are many things that don’t apply to us these days.
10.Don’t worry about it. Follow your heart, it’s all good.
11.Don’t worry about it. The Bible doesn’t say not to do that.
12.Don’t worry about it. God promises prosperity.
13.Don’t worry about it. Works does not save you. You don’t need do anything.
Wow!!! Thanks, I feel so much better.
Whoa!!! I feel SO much worse!!!!!!!!! “Depart from me, I never knew you.” BIG MISTAKE!!!

James 1:22-24 (KJV)
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
[SUP]23 [/SUP]For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
[SUP]24 [/SUP]For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.

Ezekiel 14:3-8 (KJV)
[SUP]3 [/SUP]Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
[SUP]4 [/SUP]Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;
[SUP]5 [/SUP]That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.
[SUP]6 [/SUP]Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.
[SUP]7 [/SUP]For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:
[SUP]8 [/SUP]And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

I was going to put that in a post that I made but it would gender more strife so I passed on it. See thread "I'm sick of arguing" too. I've come to find out we can even argue about arguing!

Gee, let me give you an example. Look at this thread: http://christianchat.com/bible-discussion-forum/66603-homosexual-threat.html. This has nothing to do with anything you have just posted. This guy was getting bashed and ridiculed for a topic he wanted to discuss. I've been reading it this morning, and this motivated me to post this thread.
Yeah this happens a lot.
Someone posts a hot button topic.
Then someone interprets presence of said post as proof of some sort of devious motive, when in fact all they wanted to do was discuss said hot button topic.

Happens all the time.
