Oklahoma is right in the center of tornado territory. I guess the lawmakers will be inviting God's wrath again.

Yep! just take a look at CA. Badly in need of rain and it is getting it at a very high price & destructively. I also believe God's wrath on a state will depend on its rule on the people ... biblically speaking.

A statue is a lifeless piece of stone. What power will you give it to affect your life, or the life of another?

Yes I was thinking the same thing the other day when I saw CA in the news. Agree with you there.

They do it only to divide people. If I make a monster statue, it may look scary bit if you hit it, nothing will happen. Again beloved these are designed distractions to take your mind off my message.

but Biscuit, God has kids everywhere. :)

and since the Lord Jesus already drank to the dregs the wrath of God toward them,
don't you think it may be premature to decide when something bad happens,
it's because God's angry?

our God is just, and won't punish sin twice, right?

ps--Kayla, your thread title made me lol. :)

God uses the weather to stress His anger ... not always but frequently. There are plenty of bible verses to back up the good & bad sides of God in reference to the weather

And I guess the most famous probably would be related to Noah's. Believe I read somewhere that there were only 15 major earthquakes prior to 1960 but something like 168 thereafter If I can find it I will post it..

Question: "Why does God allow natural disasters, i.e. earthquakes, hurricanes, and tsunamis?"

Answer:
Why does God allow earthquakes, tornados, hurricanes, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, mudslides, wildfires, and other natural disasters? Tragedies cause many people to question God’s goodness. It is distressing that natural disasters are often termed “acts of God” while no “credit” is given to God for years, decades, or even centuries of peaceful weather. God created the whole universe and the laws of nature (Genesis 1:1). Most natural disasters are a result of these laws at work. Hurricanes, typhoons, and tornados are the results of divergent weather patterns colliding. Earthquakes are the result of the earth’s plate structure shifting. A tsunami is caused by an underwater earthquake.

The Bible proclaims that Jesus Christ holds all of nature together (Colossians 1:16-17). Could God prevent natural disasters? Absolutely! Does God sometimes influence the weather? Yes, as we see in Deuteronomy 11:17 and James 5:17. Numbers 16:30-34shows us that God sometimes causes natural disasters as a judgment against sin. The book of Revelation describes many events which could definitely be described as natural disasters (Revelation chapters 6, 8, and 16). Is every natural disaster a punishment from God? Absolutely not.

In much the same way that God allows evil people to commit evil acts, God allows the earth to reflect the consequences sin has had on creation. Romans 8:19-21 tells us, “The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.” The fall of humanity into sin had effects on everything, including the world we inhabit. Everything in creation is subject to “frustration” and “decay.” Sin is the ultimate cause of natural disasters just as it is the cause of death, disease, and suffering.

We can understand why natural disasters occur. What we do not understand is why God allows them to occur. Why did God allow the tsunami to kill over 225,000 people in Asia? Why did God allow Hurricane Katrina to destroy the homes of thousands of people? For one thing, such events shake our confidence in this life and force us to think about eternity. Churches are usually filled after disasters as people realize how tenuous their lives really are and how life can be taken away in an instant. What we do know is this: God is good! Many amazing miracles occurred during the course of natural disasters that prevented even greater loss of life. Natural disasters cause millions of people to reevaluate their priorities in life. Hundreds of millions of dollars in aid is sent to help the people who are suffering. Christian ministries have the opportunity to help, minister, counsel, pray, and lead people to saving faith in Christ! God can, and does, bring great good out of terrible tragedies (Romans 8:28).

soo...you think Katrina was because God was mad?

i don't mean to say there's no truth in God punishing sin,
but i get kinda squirmy in my seat when it's like judgement is being pronounced on everyone...

had i lived on the SE coast when Katrina hit, i think i would have been wondering
what horrible sin i'd committed to cause all that suffering. :(

i guess i'm reluctant to tell millions of God's own:
hey! you brought this on yourselves...

I just posted a link that made reference to Katrina. God could have stopped it if He wanted too. I know for a fact that Louisiana is the voodoo capital in USA while witchcraft is practiced widely in CA and the largest witchcraft group in USA.

The same reference can be made to Haiti. Although 80% profess to being Catholic, 50% of those 80% mix voodoo with Christianity. And I believe Haiti made voodoo its official religion. Go figure??

Kayla, i believe i am derailing, and i apologize.

so i'll leave it with this last question, and give biscuit the final word here.

biscuit...what do you think we, as God's people, should do in those situations?
do you think we should reach out to help those affected by the devastation,
or sit back 'knowing' it's their due?

The Bible, especially the Book of Revelation, tells us the end is near and the weather pattern is just one many signs Jesus gave us in the NT/Book of Revelation. There isn't much we can do except pray and help those in need because that what good Christians do.

There is a point in time when things will really get bad and Jesus will call His faithful children home known as the Church (Revelation 3:10). We will have to weather the storm just like everyone else. However, we Christians have the Holy Ghost who will advise us when danger is near and how to make the adjustments toward safety.

I don't think you are derailing the thread at all (IMHO).
