Your argument is veering dangerously close to pure silliness now.

Three days and three nights = 72 hours.

A day = 12 hours
A night = 12 hours

Are there not four watches a night?
Are there not 12 hours in a day?

It is not absurd, this is simply how the Jews regarded days. Pick almost any commentary you wish and all scholars recognize the historical accuracy of this fact. The following is from the Jewish Encyclopedia.

[h=2]By: Emil G. Hirsch, Michael Friedländer[/h]
In the Bible, the season of light (Gen. i. 5), lasting "from dawn [lit. "the rising of the morning"] to the coming forth of the stars" (Neh. iv. 15, 17). The term "day" is used also to denote a period of twenty-four hours (Ex. xxi. 21). In Jewish communal life part of a day is at times reckoned as one day; e.g., the day of the funeral, even when the latter takes place late in the afternoon, is counted as the first of the seven days of mourning; a short time in the morning of the seventh day is counted as the seventh day; circumcision takes place on the eighth day, even though of the first day only a few minutes remained after the birth of the child, these being counted as one day. Again, a man who hears of a vow made by his wife or his daughter, and desires to cancel the vow, must do so on the same day on which he hears of it, as otherwise the protest has no effect; even if the hearing takes place a little time before night, the annulment must be done within that little time. The day is reckoned from evening to evening—i.e., night and day—except in reference to sacrifices, where daytime and the night following constitute one day (Lev. vii. 15; see Calendar). "The day" denotes: (a) Day of the Lord; (b) the Day of Atonement; (c) the treatise of the Mishnah that contains the laws concerning the Day of Atonement (See Yoma and Sabbath).

So, what do you suppose Jesus meant by "in the heart of the earth?"

Great tribulation.The three days of suffering began in the garden being "sorrowful" unto death..

And he took with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be “sorrowful” and very heavy.Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me Mat 26:37

Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground. Luk 22:42

Jesus was arrested between 1:00 and 2:00 AM on Friday morning and spent the remainder of that night before Annas - one night, Luke 22:54.
That morning he was then taken before both Ciaphas, Pilate, Herod. and then back to Pilate and then crucified.
Jesus died at the 9th hour of that same day and was buried before the end of the day. This is the end of day one.
He spends that tight in the tomb - night two.
He also spends the entire day of the Sabbath in the tomb - Day two.
He spends the night of the Sabbath in the tomb - Night three.
He then rises on the morning of the first day of the week - the third day. Just as he said, "I will rise on the third day."

Just like us, the Jews reckoned any part of a day as a day.
The Pharisees did this so they could honor Sabbath \for a part of the day and claim they were honoring Sabbath.

A day is a day.

The Jews, Pharisees, and the Talmud say a part of a day is a day.

YHWH says: "from evening to evening" is a day...

Leviticus 23:32, "It is a Sabbath of rest to you, and you shall afflict your beings. On the ninth day of the month at evening, from evening to evening, you observe your Sabbath.”

Can anyone say a day is a part of a day when the Creator of the day says different?

If Friday Night is N1
The N2 = Saturday Night = Sabbath night

You are double counting Sabbath night.

Please..... homework...

Look at it again. We have from 1:00 AM Friday till morning. This is the first night.
You then have a full day of trials, crucifixion, and burial. This is the first day.
You then have the first night in the tomb which is the second night.
Then the Sabbath day, Saturday, in the tomb. This is the second day.
Then he is still in the tomb Saturday night. This is the third night.
He then rises on the next morning, the first day of the week. This is the third day and the day of resurrection.

This has been debated....

Disciples met early first day of the week (Sunday) back track three days and nights.....the days started 6 AM not midnight.......

Sunday Morning--->Saturday Morning
Saturday Morning--->Friday Morning
Friday Morning--->Thursday Morning

That is my math...and for sure there will be dissenters and those who reject with long drawn out explanations, charts, supposition, guesses etc.......

1:00 AM of the first night when he was arrested would have been in actuality Saturday morning because Saturday began at what for us would have been at sunset Friday evening.

Yeah that's nice.....SO the disciples in Acts when accused of being drunk in the third hour of the day was 9 pm at night or 9 AM in the morning?

New American Standard Bible
"For these men are not drunk, as you suppose, for it is only the third hour of the day;

King James Bible
For these are not drunken, as ye suppose, seeing it is but the third hour of the day.

*****I think it's a good practice to start drinking as early as possible (Holy Spirit)...

Yeah, I remember the time be called 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.....nothing about the arrest in the timing element....1 am Friday Night and a 9 am to noon crucifixion would mean like a 2nd day of the week resurrection......I do not see how that jives bro.

No matter how one slices and dices...JESUS spent THREE days and THREE NIGHTS in the tomb.....the disciples came to the tomb early the 1st DAY of the week (SUNDAY) JESUS was not there.....ACTS proves the day started at 6 AM (disciples accused of being drunk third hour of the day)

Thursday was the day he was crucified.....

for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

King James Bible
For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Jesus does not define the "heart of the earth" as the tomb or the grave. This is a definition that we have given to to the term. Jesus defines it as "into the hands of men." Here is what Jesus said would take place in these three days and nights. "Jesus said to them, 'The Son of Man is going to be delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill Him, and He will be raised on the third day.' And they were deeply grieved." Matthew 17:22-23.
Three days and three nights modifies delivered into the hands of men, killed, and raised on the third day. In the heart of the earth is the same thing as "into the hands of men." From the time Jesus was betrayed until the time he rose from the tomb was three days and three nights. The time line is all there it stark detail, particularly in Luke's account. No matter how one may wish to manipulate this time line. There is no possible way to have Jesus in the tomb for 72 hours.

Sorry not buying it......it is compared to Jonah who spent THREE days and THREE nights in the belly of the fish.....the verbiage is clear and to try and say that the arrest, trial etc. is part of the three days and nights (IN THE HEART OF THE EARTH) does not jive.....NOR DOES IT EQUATE to being in the hands of men!

Well, I am not going to waste time trying to convince you. All you have to do is look at the time line in Luke. It is there. I posted this on post #68. Read it and tell me if there is anything in that account I have missed.

not worried how the jews keep it, lets see how God defines 3 days

5And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night.
And the evening and the morning were the first day.

8And God called the firmament Heaven.
And the evening and the morning were the second day.

13And the evening and the morning were the third day.

There are two schools of though about Jesus' death.

One is that the Passover mentioned is an annual Passover, so that he was crucified on a Wednesday, and hence spent three days in the tomb.

The other is that he was crucified on a Friday.

Which is correct? In which year was Our Lord actually put to death?
when did jonah have a choice ware he was going.

This is important because Jesus dies at that exact hour the Passover lamb is slaughtered.
this is incorrect,

the passover in the old testement was slain on the beggining of the 14th,
not the daylite portion of the 14th
