Which do you think it is?

We don't produce good fruit, we only bear the good fruit that the Spirit produces as we abide in Christ.
i see, so it must be the spirits fault if you are not producing good fruits, right? i mean if it is the Spirits responsibility to produce good fruits, and you are not producing good fruits, then the Spirit is defective, right. i mean if a Spirit filled Christian is producing NO FRUITS, then that spirit must be defective. if what you say is TRUE, that it is the Spirits responsibility to produce the Good Works. Is anybody else falling for this stuff?

If it is the Spirits responsibility to produce Good Fruits in us, then Jesus would never have COMMANDED us to Love One Another. If that was already going to be fulfilled by the Spirit that He gave us. God Forbid.

The Holy Spirit does not make you do anything at all. It is your choice whether to listen to the promptings of the Holy Spirit or reject them. You see a person on the street asking for money. the Holy Spirit is prompting you to give them some money, you have plenty. But you choose to not give, because that person probably has more money than you do, and he is just scamming everyone. The HOLY Ghost will NEVER force or make a person do anything at all. YOU CHOOSE to either react to the Holy Spirit or not react. If you do a Good Work, it is because you chose to listen to the Promptings of the Holy Spirit of God, that Spirit did not make you do that Good, did not cause you to do that Good, is not the result of you doing that Good. satan prompts us NOT to do good. Spirit prompts us to do good. IF you are waiting for the Spirit to cause a good work in you, you will be doing nothing at all. You will help no one, you will feed no one, you will cloth no one, you will not be Loving One Another. And here you are, NO Good Fruits at all, and whose fault is that? NOt yours, its the spirits fault for failing to produce those good works in you. God forbid. Again, the Spirit can't MAKE you do anything at all. Likewise, satan can't MAKE you do anything at all either. YOU CHOOSE who you listen to and obey.
If you do a Good work, it is because you chose to listen to and obey the Spirit. If you Fail to do a Good Work when you had the opportunity to do so, it is because you chose to listen to and obey satan. Who you LOVE, will reveal what Fruits there are, or Lack of them.

And in the new covenant God is the dynamic of His own demands and the content of His own commands. You're a branch, and you will never be more than a branch. So.....be a branch.

No. It must be our fault if we are not "bearing" good fruit.

Gosh, wouldn't it be great if we could COMMAND people to love us!

Silly of course. If you are commanding love, is it really love?

No. God gives us the ability to love Him and others, AFTER He saves us.

1 John 4:19New King James Version (NKJV)

19 We love Him[a] because He first loved us.

If He didn't give, and maintain the love we wouldn't love others, or just love our families like heathen.

We must rely on Him for all things including the ability to love others.

So to love is to just choose to obey and love? I tried that for many years and it didn't work for me. I always failed at some point and then even when I thought I was loving others pretty good, someone would come along and goof it up by being abusive or selfish or not treating me well. I can't just choose to love when my heart is so wicked and selfish and when I rise up and murder so quickly when someone hurts my feelings. All I can do is cry to God for what I obviously see I lack. Oh, I can put up a pretty good front, giving to the poor, helping a stranger in some need. But then someone spits in my face or despitefully uses me and my true self is shown. My true poverty of spirit is shown.

John 15:8 "Herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit: so shall ye be my disciples." -----Let's discuss what promotes fruit in our lives. Let's look at some things that may inhibit a fruitful life. ****I believe we can grow in God----1. saved 2. disciples 3. servants 4. friends 5. sons/daughters. Many people want to know God as a friend---but I think there is some roadblocks to this if we are not being discipled and becoming servants...

Thank you 88...I knew I was to post this somewhere...

~[h=3]A SEED FOR A FRUIT![/h]

Recently, the Lord, gave me a picture that I needed some time to reflect on the meaning.

I believe I see it now.

I saw myself in a white dress. On the dress were many grapes which were big, dark colored and inviting to pick.

In the vision I took one of the grapes and popped it into my mouth. It was so sweet, was full of very red juice, and very refreshing. There was little of the flesh pulp, and only one seed. The seed at first was the mystery that I knew within would reveal something I needed to know.

What I believe this is speaking is that there is a word for each fruit of the Spirit, and when the fruit is matured so to speak in our life, it will refresh others and feed them.

Examples:

Love-Rom 5:5 And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Born of His Spirit and baptized into His overwhelming power, we have been given the love for God by His truth, and our knowledge of His nature. We love Him because He first loved us.

Joy-
Act 2:28 Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou shalt make me full of joy with thy countenance.

His presence now with us, and the assurance after death that we will be with Him.

Peace-Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

As we go through life, we will be given many different seeds of the word that will produce the life of Jesus. As they are planted, and we cultivate the seeds, they manifest the peacable fruits of righteousness that others may taste and begin to hunger too after the one who satisfys. The only One.

I have found that those who do not rest in Christ to be the "sleepers". Apart from the Vine, there is no life.

This is so true. We can be running around doing life at high speed sort of like our hairs on fire thinking we are doing this for God. Like many Christians say "BURN OUT FOR JESUS!!!!" But as you keep reminding us here it's those who rest in Him that won't burn out but abide and produce. Jesus already did the work, we abide and the fruit naturally comes. This concept is hard for our human minds to get.

It can take years for a Christian to unlearn how to work. Resting in Christ is working and producing. And it won't be a burden but a blessing. Many Christians will disagree with this but IT'S TRUE.

This is where those who rest get persecuted by those who work.

Mary and Martha kind of thing.

What does it mean to "abide in Christ" on a practical level? It almost seems like what some would call "Christianese", and it needs clarifying in order to have an application that leads to results. So, how would you guys define abiding in Christ?
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, so neither can you unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up; and they gather them, and cast them into the fire and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit, and so prove to be My disciples. Just as the Father has loved Me, I have also loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love; just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.

What is this abundant fruit that we'll produce?

To abide is to love and obey our precious Lord and Savior.
