I've been to Penecostal churches but it wasn't like that. Nothing of God in that video.

I think the Bible plays it out just a bit differently. Our man, David, got down to some really primitive drums.
His clothes get shaken off? Passage please.

That's an urban legend! David wasn't naked, 2Sam.6:14 and 1Chron.15:27 testify to the fact that David wore a "linen ephod". Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.
Those were Michal's words not mine...

Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!
(2Sa 6:20)

Why would anyone want to search out those kinds of videos on the internet and bring them here?
I wasn't searching for something like that. I was looking for information on a guy named Terry Bennett, who is supposed to be a prophetic minister. I accidently ran across this as this Bennett is involved with some guy named Rick Joyner and the video is from Joyners church.

I think it's interestiing in the sense that it proves how people can give into carnal fleshy things. The music has a lot to do with setting the tone.

That makes no sense, timbrals and flutes maybe, but primitive drums, that's a wild guess on your part.

Here you go Willie,

"Thus all Israel brought up the ark of the covenant of the Lord with....shouting, and with the sound of the cornet, and with trumpets, and with cymbals, making a noise with psalteries and harps."
1Chron. 15:28

Sorry Willie, no primitive drums.

Well, "shamelessly uncovering himself" doesn't exactly sound like putting on an overcoat or anything like that to me...... but, of course, I could be wrong, some wives may get upset by their husbands putting on overcoats.

But the point I was making (before you guys "sidestepped" it) was that David wasn't just doing the waltz out on that street.

I don't think anyone sidestepped anything, people answered posts that you posted.

You bet they were excited!, the Ark was coming home.

Why would anyone want to search out those kinds of videos on the internet and bring them here? they will just stir up strife.

I think it is pretty clear we have a lot of cessationists who are members but also many who move in the gifts of the Spirit...so what will happen is the cessationists will think aha, aha, we were right all along, and those who move in the gifts will feel the need to defend themselves and make comments like we shouldn't throw the baby out with the bathwater...which we shouldn't, of course.

Cessationists will say it is all occult and demonic and Spirit filled believers will feel they are being accused of something.

We all have to work out what is pleasing to God, and I am pretty sure that is not the same thing as what is pleasing to man. It isn't going to get anyone anywhere if our sphere of experience is only going to include what things are commonly seen and humanly acceptable.....we need to grow in faith and trust God.

We know that it is promised that people will dream dreams and see visions in the last days. If someone gets a vision that is apocalyptic, or a serious personal warning for someone, for instance, it is bound to be an emotional experience...not something you could remain unmoved with.

So for starters it is best not to label all emotional displays as "occult", in case it is in fact God Who is providing the vision by the Holy Spirit.

Just saying...that to call something demonic that might be the Holy Spirit, is getting very close to the kind of blasphemy that cannot be forgiven...so best be careful.

Miraculous events, such as what has been seen in various revivals, occur wherever humans have faith to believe that God is bigger than their circumstances and able to miraculously meet their needs. This will mean that our sphere of experience is expanded to become real testimony, which surely we all want and need.

We ought not to be putting God in any kind of box.
Convallaria.. just compare the vid to scripture.

See what you come up with.

Doesn't have to be a 'cessationists are getting on this video to disprove charismatics' thing.

I saw about 2 minutes into it and wasn't surprised by it. It's just a little step more extreme than Todd Bentley (altho Todd Bentley I think does sometimes go this extreme also).

It's not an attack on charismatics. Very rare.. but you do get charismatics who will at least try and abide by the guidelines Paul sets out in how spiritual gifts should operate in the bible. I am a cessationist.. but at least these kind of charismatics altho still doing something they shouldn't.. are trying to do it as Paul was trying to get people to do it.

This vid.. is really obviously not biblical.

Hi Wattie,
What you said is really proving my point. I saw some of the video but left it alone after the first minute or so. I could see that by placing it publicly SOME would write off anything charismatic as demonic and not go there in their personal walk with God. That is a total tragedy IMO.

I am talking about a process really…and it is antichrist spirit that triumphs here by subtly turning people away from the fullness of the Spirit.

Your words: “It's not an attack on charismatics. You see now you are provoking me to try and defend myself and by this be seen to defend the video.

People who move in the Spirit are not doing something wrong!!!!! Wow, how can you say that and not feel you are in any danger?

Also there is no “trying” involved when you have received a gift of God: you either have it or you don’t, and if you have it, you either use it, or you don’t. Trying doesn’t come into it!

Your words again: This vid.. is really obviously not biblical.
You see what I mean? Of course it isn’t Biblical, anyone can see that some elements in it were actually disturbing. But now the damage is done and the cessationists have proved their point and the Holy Spirit is grieved and quenched – YET AGAIN!

Just because something is weird, doesn't mean it isn't of God.
But conversely, just because something is weird, doesn't mean it is of God.

I'm definitely not a cessationist, but I believe it's important to be incredibly discerning and to test the spirits and fruit (sadly something lacking in SOME charismatic circles). That said, this particular video doesn't strike me as pointing to God's truth.

Wow!!! how epically stupid is this. How am I meant to grow in my knowledge of Christ?? How am I meant to meaningfully worship him??? How am I meant to go to Gods Word and meditate, ponder, and muse over truth and teaching???

Its scary to know what churches have become... a bunch of hyper emotionalism, repetitive noise jargon.. No wonder atheists and socialists think we're stupid.

See that is what I mean, the damage is done.

How are you meant to grow in your knowledge of Christ? Pray a lot, not pious prayers but real ones; read the word and ask the Lord to give you those things He has promised and to show you what is true and what is not; Take it on the chin when He admonishes you for your unbelief, repent, be open to Him whatever comes, even though the world will come against you.

You can depend on all those scriptures regarding the gifts of the Spirit. Don't let anyone bomb you off track.

This is not a competition to see who is right and who is wrong. If you are born again (and if you are not, message me and can help you) IF you are born again the promises of God are all YEA and AMEN to us 2 Cor 1:20, and Acts 2:39 (re the gift of the Holy Ghost) For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. Read the whole of Acts 2 and you will see it is about the pentecostal outpouring and that there were those present who MOCKED it....don't be partakers with the mockers.

Well in this thread no one really has attacked charismatics. CharisMANIA yes... But its been mostly just people turned off the vid for obvious reasons.

Anyway, no offense meant

I am not offended. It is what God feels about it that concerns me, and since you said it, it should worry you.
