So then, it seems to me people have lost sight of what it means to be a Christian. What is the basics are I suppose as another fellow Christian posted in their thread. So then I ask what is exactly the basics for a Christian? Is it knowing the word? Is it following the ten commandments? Is it to be spiritually wise? Is it to be baptized? Is it to keep the Sabbath? If you believe any of these answer I say to you WRONG. The first and most basic thing for a Christian is a relationship with God. Not a oh hey God I need you to do this for me and this for me oh and do this and such, or talking to him occasionally or only praising him in the good times or praying to him all the time like a religious person does either.
No I am talking about a full out intimate relationship with him. you need to have a deep love and care between you an him. Otherwise you just have a stale relationship with him. you will never truly know the heart of God or who he truly is without have a love between him as if you were madly in love with your wife.
Love is an all powerful element with God, I would know because I have felt his love on a level that was to powerful and rich for my body to handle but it made me chase him madly ever since. this relationship of love should be your foundation of faith, Love is the cornerstone of being with God. Love is not just a feeling it can in fact become your very being and change you inside. Do you recall when Jesus said to enter the kingdom of heaven we must become as those children? What do you think the meaning of what he said was? I will tell you what I believe he meant. we must be dependent on him for everything like a child does with their parents. Not just our earthly needs but our spiritual too, actually especially our spiritual needs.
Are you weak in faith? ask God and rely on him to make your have faith at great as even the apostles. Do you need wisdom and insight? Ask and you shall receive. also he meant that we must take on the relationship with him as a child as well. Us being the small child and him the strong and loving father. When you connect to God do you suddenly feel as a child? Have ever suddenly became a small child with him? This is what he was talking about.
And prayer is also a subject that needs to be clarified, people pray to him as if they feel they have to pray a certain way or for certain things. They pray like religious people do, they use fancy words or say things they think will please him. This is not how prayer was meant to be. Talk to him like you would your own best friend. relax and just speak to him about everything, you troubles you joys, your feelings your life other people what you feel about them. He is our own diary except he really cares and will try to help you. Have you seen the disunity in the Christian community? How people love to argue and attack each other? the simplest thing such as merely talking about the rapture or the trinity causes so much mayhem.
I have seen Christians despise each other merely because they have different views about things and got into a heated debated. I hate this, we are no longer a body of one mind and spirit and heart because we allow our differences to make it this way. The damage is done and we can move on, but the outcome of the future is not if we agree but rather if we can still love each other and treat each other as Jesus would have. We have the power and ability to do so. If we Christian are not to show the world the heart of Jesus by our fruit who will?
