Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence toward God. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, BECAUSE WE KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS, and DO THOSE THINGS that are pleasing in his sight.
And this is his commandment, That we should believe on the name of HIS SON Jesus Christ, and LOVE one another, AS HE GAVE US COMMANDMENT. And he that KEEPETH HIS COMMANDMENTS DWELLETH IN HIM , and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, BY THE SPIRIT which he hath given us.”
it sems as if John who certainly understood salvation makes a very clear point when it comes to Loving God, and keeping His Word. Just as Moses, the prophets, Jesus, James, Peter and paul seemed to make the same point of obedience to God. seems a shame to explain things like this away when they are consistantly taught as a Biblical truth. Much better to accept and learn from the truth.
Being " new creations" means we arent still the old as scripture says " the old is gone the new has come" we no longer are those incapable of walking in His ways, we have been offered His spirit to lead us, strengthen us, give us wisdom and power over temptation. The old is the sinner a slave to the flesh, the new is a child of God most High, a servant of righteousness. True believers are capable when we accept and believe His word, our sword in this battle is His Word and simple faith.
