The house was small and busy with young children running around. On the wall hung a painting. It was there just to decorate the place, make it look more homely. The mom would get her duster out give a quick dust every now and then as she did the rest of the room and when the walls needed painting she would prop it up on the floor leaning it against a wall. One day a man came to the house and noticed that the painting was a Rembrandt very rare and priceless. The painting was taken away and handled with care, only held with people wearing gloves and placed carefully behind glass to protect it.
Isn't it amazing that when something's true worth and value is recognised it is treated accordingly? How often in life is that not the same for people?
Many times Christian's do not understand their worth or value in Christ. They do not understand what it is to be a child of God, a son or daughter of the King, a co- heir with Christ and the inheritance that goes with that value. They do not live according to their value or worth, neither are they surrounded by people that also recognise their value or worth and will accept attitudes and behaviour towards them that is not fitting for a Child Of God. They accept poor behaviour towards them as though that was normal. They accept attitudes that criticize, put down, pull to pieces, and suffer all kinds of abuse without question. Sometimes thinking they actually deserve it and do not deserve better.
Understanding your worth and value in Christ, understanding your inheritance as a child of The Living God, knowing your identity in Him is key to learning how to live in this world in the standing God has given us.
I have also noticed that when Christians do start walking in that understanding they can get attacked very heavily. Usually by being told they are arrogant, stubborn, not loving or even heretical.
I watched an interesting programme last night on TV with Prince Harry and his time in Afghanistan flying helicopters. Regardless of the work he is doing, how down to earth he spoke, how he shared about his job, bottom line he is still a prince. He knows he is a prince. Everyone else knows he is a prince. There is no arrogance, stubbornness, unloving or heretical attitudes in speaking in truth of who you are in Christ. Only the enemy will try and stop you understanding your value and worth because you are made in the image of God and he KNOWS what will happen when believers finally wake up and rise up to that truth.
