I'm just surprised that so many of you are surprised at the teaching of Mrs Osteen whose husband wrote the New York times best seller ," Your best life now."
In the words of John Macarthur -," [the title] ought to be a dead give away since the only way this could be your best life now is if your are going to hell."
Touche John.

Here is a short excerpt from his denunciation of Joel Osteen and as one of Americas most thorough and respected reformed pastors - I think John Macarthur deserves to be heard.
i stopped taking macarthur seriously not too long ago when i realized that his 'business model' is purely one of self promotion by making others look bad...

I don't think any publicly successful pastor has survived without conflict surrounding them in some way. And due to those who disagree with their method.
After all, the church of Christ, which is the community of faithful in him, is fractured into denominations that will argue doctrine with one another. A pastor at the head of any one denominational church is therefore going to draw heat regardless.

I don't find Victoria Osteen's remarks to qualify as heresy per say however, I do think she is not the best public speaker as her thoughts that interrelate to scripture don't stay aligned as they exit her mouth.
At times it looks like Joel Osteen is even uncomfortable as she speaks.

You worship God because Jesus told you to worship God, and God deserves your worship because God is God.

Why?
It is hard for people to grasp that God is God. He created us for HIS glory and purposes. When WE create something, from a Lego set, to a self-learning humanoid robot, we do it for OUR pleasure and purpose. If the thing we create fails to do the job we created it for we have the right to destroy it and make something else. BECAUSE It's OURS! It has no rights other than those we CHOOSE to bestow upon it. One of the primary reasons for God creating us is to worship Him. Christians love Him and WANT to worship Him. That is why we were created and why He desreves our praise.
Can you wrap your mind around the fact that God OWNS you? BUT He LOVES YOU! He is giving you chance after chance to accept His gift of salvation. Why not accept that gift? It makes no logical sense not to.

I don't accept how you interpret 'salvation' and 'gift' and our purpose as by the bible, because by your interpretations of it, it's essentially God saying this:

''You are created by me, God, the almighty, who sees and knows all things. I created you knowing you'd become faulty, but decided to create you like that anyway. And I've told you, you're sinners, and all your deeds are like filthy rags, so nothing you can ever do will stop you being faulty, nonetheless you have to try to do all my commands, even though you'll fail continually and perpetually. In that light, I've created an eternal torture for any of you who don't try to be non-faulty, even though being faulty is the only way you canbe. So that isn't gonna work. So, if you believe that my son came to save you from your faulty nature, you're saved from an entire eternity of torture for the faulty nature that, even when you believe, still remains anyway until you die''.

But I interpret the bible differently than that, so I don't class myself as Christian. It doesn't make me any less qualified to talk about it, nor does it make me logically nonsensical.

First, do you acknowledge that you are the property of the being that created you? And if so tell us what else God can do to save you from the rebellion of not fulfilling the purpose He created you for, besides actually degrading Himself to the point of becoming flesh, have His creation mock, torture, crucify, and murder Him? YOU CANNOT" TRY HARD" ENOUGH TO SAVE YOURSELF!! THAT is the great lie. The whole point is God knows we can't, but He loves us so much that He gave His only son as payment for our inability to "try hard" enough.

As I say, I get your particular view. I just don't agree with it.

That's very sad. I don't watch preachers who teach false doctrines. Joel Osteen does not preach the true gospel. A lot of Hollywood actors go to his church. His church has about 30,000 members. The bible strictly warns us about false prophets and preachers who don't teach the truth. Satan hates to be exposed. He wants Christians to be silent. I refuse to be silent because their are people dying and on their way to hell, unless they come to the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and repent and get born again. A lot of preachers are compromising the gospel. They tell regular people you gonna die and go to hell unless you get born again. Why are they afraid to tell Hollywood stars the same thing?? They don't want to tell these Hollywood stars they're going to hell, because they afraid they won't putmoney in the offering plate. God is more concerned about the condition of your heart than how much money is in your bank account. Mark 8:36 For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Verse 37 Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? I don't care how much money you got if you're name is not in the Book of Life hell is your destination. It's time for people to stop playing church. This is not a game. Dealing with God is serious business. Make up your mind. You got to choose. Choose God would be the right thing to do. Unfortunately a lot of people choose Satan, not knowing that doing things Satan's way is leading them straight to hell. Christianity is about loving one another, lifting up the name of Jesus and saving souls from hell. Matthew 28:19-20 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. God bless Preacha24-7

That is what it is coming to a Christainity that exalts people which will get worse as time goes on which the Bible says the time will come when they will not endure the truth of the Bible but will want to hear the Bible according to their own lusts, which means they want personal power and to exalt themselves.

Joel preaches a prosperity Gospel but the Bible says having food and clothing be content, and some people pray amiss to heap it upon their lusts and Jesus said pray for your needs, and the saints appear poor to the world but they possess all things to be given to them in due time.

God only blesses us with our needs and not our wants because He loves people which the early Church sold all they had and laid it at the apostles feet and they distributed to the poor.

I know you know my particular view. That's a separate issue from the specific questions I asked. Very telling that you didn't answer the questions, even though you posed questions that some of us answered.

Ya know, I'm hearing the question as to why we serve him & so many answers....only a few got it right.

Remember this old chorus"

I will enter in His gates with thanksgiving in my heart,
I will enter in His courts with praise,
I will say "this is the day that the Lord has made",
I will rejoice for He has made me glad.

We love Him for He first loved us.

Matthew 22:34-40 (KJV) [SUP]34 [/SUP]But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together. [SUP]35 [/SUP]Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying, [SUP]36 [/SUP]Master, which is the great commandment in the law? [SUP]37 [/SUP]Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. [SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the first and great commandment. [SUP]39 [/SUP]And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. [SUP]40 [/SUP]On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

Not only can some not figure out what was wrong with what Osteen said, neither can some answer why we serve God to begin with. Do we know now how close we are to the coming of the Lord? This is shameful....
