Well, the use of scripture has sure brought unity in the Spirit, right?
Everyone seems to want to hear that I despise scripture, that I never read scripture, that I hate scripture. I cannot satisfy your desires. I love scripture as a gift from God. I have for many years now allowed the Holy Spirit to shape my heart and my mind, the way I believe and think, through the scriptures. But it was not the scriptures which shaped my beliefs, my thoughts, but the Holy Spirit.
So I ask this of all of you?
Who shaped your beliefs and the way you think, if these things are from scripture alone?
How do you know that what you believe is of God, if it is from scripture alone?
So many seem to want to see a unity of belief, a continuance of doctrines that are correct and true. And they are willing to do almost anything to have this unity, except one. And every effort but this one will end in utter and complete failure. For there is only one way to the unity of the faith, and only one path to becoming pleasing to God.
Many things are good, many things are true, but only one thing makes us the children of God. Only one thing brings us together as one body, indeed He is the only thing which adds us to the body of Christ. Without Him, there is no truth. Without Him, there is no light. Without Him there is no salvation.
So, scorn at your own peril. He has called, He has drawn, He has sought those who will listen to His voice, who will lay down their own ruler-ship of their heart, to allow Him to become Lord of their lives. He has been seeking those who will follow Him into holiness and truth in Jesus Christ from among the body of believers, but most would not hear. They stopped their ears, saying "lies, lies. We do not need Him, we have the truth. Leave us alone, go away."
You are about to get your request.
Repent, for the day of the Lord is at hand.
