I am not understand your point. The Sabbath was ALWAYS the seventh day of the week. The Passover was ALWAYS preceded by a Sabbath day followed by seven days of feasting and concluded with another Sabbath. Any Seventh day which preceded the Passover was regarded as a High Sabbath. Jesus was buried on the evening preceding the Sabbath, "Therefore because of the Jewish day of preparation, since the tomb was nearby, they laid Jesus there."
Apparently not. You do know that the First Day of Unleavened Bread is a Sabbath, don't you? And you do know that it is not the weekly Sabbath, don't you? You do know that the First Day of Unleavened Bread fell on Thursday of 31AD, don't you? and you do know that it is a high day, don't you? And you do know that the First Day of Unleavened Bread is the high day of John 19:31, don't you? And you do know that it did not fall on the weekly Sabbath that year, don't you? You do know there were two Sabbaths that week, don't you?

The First Day of Unleavened Bread fell on Thursday that week and of course the weekly Sabbath fell on Saturday.

Now how about if you show me how to count three days and three nights from Friday at sunset to Sunday morning before sunrise.

And you have a scripture that says that?

Luke 24:1-5, "But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they came to the tomb bringing the spices which they had prepared. And they found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were perplexed about this, behold, two men suddenly stood near them in dazzling clothing; and as the women were terrified and bowed their faces to the ground, the men said to them, “Why do you seek the living One among the dead?"

They prepared the spices before the Sabbath. Luke 23:54-56, "It was the preparation day, and the Sabbath was about to begin. Now the women who had come with Him out of Galilee followed, and saw the tomb and how His body was laid. Then they returned and prepared spices and perfumes. And on the Sabbath they rested according to the commandment."
Whoa, when did they get the spices and prepare them? The day before the Sabbath? If Christ was buried at/about sunset on Friday, when did these ladies go get the spices and prepare them? When they got to the tomb before daylight on Sunday morning, He was already gone.

Yep, on the first day of the week when the stone was rolled away, He wasn't rising, He was already gone. Of course He was, He rose on the weekly Sabbath afternoon at/about sunset.

Either He was in the tomb three days and three nights or He lied and wasn't the Messiah...

Mat 12:39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:
Mat 12:40 For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

Now please count three days and three nights from Friday evening at/about sunset to Sunday morning before sunrise.

I'm sorry John but, you are mistaken. The Sabbath never applied to any day of the week but the seventh day. This is why it is called the Sabbath. It NEVER fell in the middle of the week.

OK, let's see if you know what you are talking about...

Lev 23:27 Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.
Lev 23:28 And ye shall do no work in that same day: for it is a day of atonement, to make an atonement for you before the LORD your God.
Lev 23:29 For whatsoever soul it be that shall not be afflicted in that same day, he shall be cut off from among his people.
Lev 23:30 And whatsoever soul it be that doeth any work in that same day, the same soul will I destroy from among his people.
Lev 23:31 Ye shall do no manner of work: it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations in all your dwellings.
Lev 23:32 It shall be unto you a sabbath of rest, and ye shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even unto even, shall ye celebrate your sabbath.

Here the Day of Atonement, a high day not a weekly Sabbath, is plainly referred to as a Sabbath in verse 32.

So who is mistaken here?

Now please count three days and three nights from Friday at/about sunset to Sunday morning before sunrise.

There are several Sabbaths mentioned in the Tanakh or Old Testaqment. They were for the feasts. It is true, there is only one Sabbath of the Lord, but there are other Sabbaths appointed by the Word.

John, you are twisting these scripture to support your western concept of three days.

If you will not believe Luke's account, perhaps you will believe Mark's, 16:9-11, "Now after He had risen early on the first day of the week, He first appeared to Mary Magdalene, from whom He had cast out seven demons. She went and reported to those who had been with Him, while they were mourning and weeping. When they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they refused to believe it."

Yes, after He had risen, He then appeared to Mary Magdalene. He did not appear to her before He had risen. It is not referring to Him rising on the first day of the week and you are not harmonizing all the scriptures on the subject.

I am still waiting to see you count three days and three nights from Friday at/about sunset to Sunday morning before sunrise.

And they assembled in the synagogues on the seventh day and they kept the Feasts of the Eternal. The difference was their faith in Christ.

John, sometimes I think you are completely impossible to reason with. The text tells us under no uncertain terms that Jesus rose on the first day of the week. I think what you are having trouble with is the phrase Jesus used in Matt. 12. When Jesus uses the term "Heart of the earth" he is not talking about the tomb. He does not use the term for grave or tomb. He uses the word γῆς which is used very often in scripture to refer to the human collective. This is how it is used in Rev13:3 for example. Jesus is talking about the time of his suffering which began Thursday with his arrest in the garden and ended when he rose on Sunday. In other words, Jesus was three days and three nights in the hands of men. "Heart of the earth" is an idiom.

Your point here is well taken but that does not lend any support to your theory that Jesus was crucified on Wednesday. The collective accounts of all for gospels place Jesus on the cross and in the tomb on Friday and his resurrection on Sunday.

The Gospel accounts place Jesus Christ on the cross on the Passover which was Wednesday in 31 AD. the 70 week prophecy places the year as 31 AD.

There is no proof for a Good Friday, Ishtar Sunday tradition.
