I'm sorry @2ndTimothyGroup ,
I too will refrain from posting on your thread although I'm not sure its arguing.
I apologize, please forgive.
I see, and of course you are forgiven. I live in a state of forgiveness. And, maybe my heart is so sensitive that it comes across as arguing, name-calling, berating and belittling. All of you but one has done a great job of reflecting the truth; I do not blame you. Thank you for trying . . . I will give you that. :)

Below are the first words of this thread, before I got to the body of it:

"Romans 12:18 NKJV - "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."

There is one "rule" in this thread, and it is that we would come together and offer our ideas. We do not belittle or berate. In this thread, we must talk to one another with the Love of Christ within our hearts. "

this is not a reflection of the Love of Christ and I don't want others in the world to look upon this thread and say to themselves, "See. They don't even love each other."
The love of Christ:

Revelation 2:23 And I will kill her children with death; and all the churches shall know that I am he which searcheth the reins and hearts: and I will give unto every one of you according to your works.

I don't think any of you actually know Jesus the Christ.
Now I know the image you have in your mind of Christ is that
to which was taught to you by them who have deceived you for it is clear
when you as a whole look at the welfare of the Christians.
About half of them have been divorced and most all the rest
are in bondage to sin and the things of this world.
It does not take any wisdom to see this, just 2 eyes.
Your churches are closing down and dwindling in attendance.
And the behavior of most is just atrociously evil.

What I want more than anything in this world, is to be a reflection to the rest of the world, to show that world how we Love each other.

2 Timothy 2:25 NLT - "Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people's hearts, and they will learn the truth."

Gentle instruction is what I have asked for, but one party has not even come close. And that party does not reflect Jesus in the least. I am ashamed.

Thank you. I've just reported my own thread, asking that it be deleted. I am embarrassed that such ridiculous arguing is taking place . . . this is not a reflection of the Love of Christ and I don't want others in the world to look upon this thread and say to themselves, "See. They don't even love each other."
This was actually not as bad as some of the Bible threads get.

It actually can be teachable. The heated debates was often how I learned the errors of doctrine by others defending truth

I hear you, and I appreciate what you're saying. And, I think that my friends here have done a good job of being gentle in response. It is that one party that is breaking my heart.

Yes I was stationed at both places in 72.
If I recall it was at lacland in July.
I was at Lackland in end of May to end of July and at Sheppard from end of July to middle of December 1972. Strange that you were there too in the same year. It's a small world after all.

I would really like to be in touch with you, however, the forum wants a payment in order for me to initiate contact with you. Would you please, please send me an email to [email protected].

I have wanted to invest my life into the ministry, even asking the last church that I attended if they knew of a way to help make that happen. Zero response. I asked if they were aware of any classes that I might take to gain some kind of certificate. Nothing. It may be too late for me, as I am 54.5 years old. That said, I am extremely youthful in appearance and attitude, which might make up the difference. I have other concerns as well, but I NEED to do something in this life that benefits the Lord and not myself.

Thank you!
I will send you and email. And you are not too old. 50s are a great age for entering the ministry. The link I gave is perfect for you.

What do you think? Is it time for me to quit watching this sport . . . or not?
Yes, stop watching it. There are so many wicked things involved here.
1. Attitudes of the fighters. Mean, spiteful, anger without a cause, high-minded, arrogant, prideful.
2. Injuring one another. The Bible says to do good to all men, especially of the household of faith.
3. Hurting other people for money.
4. Throwing matches for money, being fraudulent.
5. Customers lust for fighting, for blood.
This is but a few reasons not to watch such things. Such a heart cannot be right in the sight of God who watches such wickedness.

All great points, but point 5 really stood out to me, proven by the booing when an all-out slug-fest is not being delivered. I should also add that taking classes and learning how to defend oneself is vastly different from being paid to literally knock unconscious your opponent. And more, choking someone to sleep is literally putting someone seconds away from death by cutting off the blood flow to the brain.

In Israel Adeyanya's fight against Kelvin Gastelum, Israel said out loud before the fifth and final round, "I am prepared to die." Those were not empty, shallow words. It was a remarkable fight, but he was absolutely serious. Does the Lord really want to be "prepared to die" over a simple sport? After decades of my faithful following, to this day I am still surprised that I never saw an opponent die in the ring. Some people, as in non-fighters, they have been struck in the face or head, even the chest, and it kills them. Why I didn't see this happen in the sport is amazing.

Romans 12:18 NKJV - "If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men."

There is one "rule" in this thread, and it is that we would come together and offer our ideas. We do not belittle or berate. In this thread, we must talk to one another with the Love of Christ within our hearts.

Now . . . LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLE!!!

So, I've been watching the UFC for over twenty years. I know these people . . . I have "relationships" with them in my mind. I remember many of them before they had children. You get my "drift."

Honestly, I hate violence. I can't stand seeing anyone be hurt . . . especially the broken legs and some of the extreme beatings that take place. My heart is so sensitive that it pains me deeply to see people suffer. In my last relationship, my girlfriend would even laugh as she saw some people be smashed into oblivion. And even though I, too, was rooting against the same person, I didn't want to see "him" get hurt. I think I even said something like, "It isn't funny." Frankly, I was disgusted that she could laugh at another human be beating into a bloody pulp.

I know that one day I'm going to have to stop watching this sport, but again, I [KNOW] these people (as best I can without having met or spoken with them.)

What do you think? Is it time for me to quit watching this sport . . . or not?
So..... I was wondering if I could ask everyone a question???? is UFC the same as boxing or wrestling??? There are certain sports that are more physical and brutal than others but the people that participate in that sport make that choice right??? If you look at it even in football If a Quarterback or a running back gets tackled and goes backwards people cheer for it.... I was Just wondering is that the same thing????

Boxing is actually worse than MMA, for in boxing, the vast majority of strikes go to the head. This is why there have been many deaths in boxing but only a couple in MMA, one that I know of, at least.

But my post is about whether or not it is wrong to watch it.

All of it is sin.

About 2 weeks ago I made the statement to a Christian pastor
that we are required to be holy for it is a commandment of God.
(Because he was making excuses to me for why Christians commit sin. You know like all of you do on this forum)

And he asked me to define unholy?

I said you should not be allowed to be a pastor.

Christians have no shame anymore.
Nor do their conscious bother them when they do wrong before the living God.
Maybe they aren't christians, just another Christian living a lie
