A lot of people lose their faith in God because they misunderstand what God truly promises to them and come to the false conclusion that God breaks promises the He never made in the first place.

In truth they never placed their faith in God at all but looked at what they believed they could gain from God instead of how they might serve God for His glory.

Some think that God promises them wealth, physical well being, granting of EVERY wish they term as a prayer.

However, I ask WHAT does God truly promise His children?

I have seen verses about eternal life, shunning by worldly friends for no longer run with them in their sinful life.

The gift of the Holy Spirit as a counselor, teacher and guide. A mediator. A New covenant where God places His laws in your heart and mind.

However I have yet to see where it says you get a NEW car or NEW house or where everyone should have their own Ipod. Or that everyone will be physically healed in this life.

God promises an eternal body with the establishment of the New Heaven and NEW Earth.

Why are people teaching lies about God and His promises?

How do you help people see through the lies that prosperity "preachers" teach?

James 4

New King James Version (NKJV)

4 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet[a] you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and[b] adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?

Romans 12
10 Be devoted to one another in brotherly love; give preference to one another in honor;

11 not lagging behind in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord;

12 rejoicing in hope, persevering in tribulation, devoted to prayer, (there WILL be tribulations)

13 contributing to the needs of the saints, practicing hospitality.

14 Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse. (you WILL be persecuted)

15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep. (there WILL be reason for weeping)

James 1
2 Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, (there WILL be trials)

3 knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance.

4 And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

9 But the brother of humble circumstances is to glory in his high position (there WILL be believers in humble circumstances ;) )

27Pure and undefiled religion in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained by the world.
(there WILL be widows and orphans in distress)

1 Peter 1
6 In this you greatly rejoice, even though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been distressed by various trials,

7 so that the proof of your faith, being more precious than gold which is perishable, even though tested by fire, may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ

(that sounds like a great trade :) )

1 Peter 2
21 For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps

1 Peter 3
14 But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed. AND DO NOT FEAR THEIR INTIMIDATION, AND DO NOT BE TROUBLED

1 Peter 4
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal among you, which comes upon you for your testing, as though some strange thing were happening to you;
13 but to the degree that you share the sufferings of Christ, keep on rejoicing, so that also at the revelation of His glory you may rejoice with exultation.

14 If you are reviled for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.

15 Make sure that none of you suffers as a murderer, or thief, or evildoer, or a troublesome meddler;

16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name.

17 For it is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it begins with us first, what will be the outcome for those who do not obey the gospel of God?

18 AND IF IT IS WITH DIFFICULTY THAT THE RIGHTEOUS IS SAVED, WHAT WILL BECOME OF THE GODLESS MAN AND THE SINNER?

19 Therefore, those also who suffer according to the will of God shall entrust their souls to a faithful Creator in doing what is right.

Christians certainly do have some promises. :rolleyes:

And we westerners do not yet know the meaning of suffering...

:)Theres a promice to conform me into the image of His Son.
Peter says "if need be" (1Peter1:6) suffering will be part of that.
For some odd reason i seem to "need" that.

I haven't seen any such promises myself... they are entirely outside biblical principals[/COLOR]

God promises an eternal body with the establishment of the New Heaven and NEW Earth. And who's KINGDOM will be doing the establishing???

Why are people teaching lies about God and His promises?
Because THEY DO... the scripture clearly says to BEWARE of False teachers... so why are you so shocked that there ARE FALSE TEACHERS????

How do you help people see through the lies that prosperity "preachers" teach?
Well I supose you can open up your bible and try to SHOW them what the bible really says... but some people are so stubborn to believe what they believe... it gets really TIRESOME... so it is also helpful if they have the Holy Spirit to help reveal the scripture to them.
Luke 16:10 is a parable about faith which also says A LOT about a persons spiritual maturity.

no one's kingdom will be doing the establishing. GOD will be establishing His kingdom after destruction of the Old Heaven and Earth...

Luke 16

New King James Version (NKJV)

16 He also said to His disciples: “There was a certain rich man who had a steward, and an accusation was brought to him that this man was wasting his goods. 2 So he called him and said to him, ‘What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your stewardship, for you can no longer be steward.’
3 “Then the steward said within himself, ‘What shall I do? For my master is taking the stewardship away from me. I cannot dig; I am ashamed to beg. 4 I have resolved what to do, that when I am put out of the stewardship, they may receive me into their houses.’
5 “So he called every one of his master’s debtors to him, and said to the first, ‘How much do you owe my master?’ 6 And he said, ‘A hundred measures[a] of oil.’ So he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.’ 7 Then he said to another, ‘And how much do you owe?’ So he said, ‘A hundred measures[b] of wheat.’ And he said to him, ‘Take your bill, and write eighty.’ 8 So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.
9 “And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail,[c] they may receive you into an everlasting home. 10 He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much; and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much. 11 Therefore if you have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches? 12 And if you have not been faithful in what is another man’s, who will give you what is your own?
13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.”

sounds more like a parable about how God trusts you with material goods and if you are an unwise steward that wastes what God trusts you with than you will not be entrusted with the True riches of His kingdom which would be wisdom from above and the Truth and the stewardship of helping to guide His children upon the paths of righteousness. How some people chose money over God's will for them. How they would rather be hiding in the shadows and compound their sins with lies instead of being chastened, repenting and asking forgiveness of God.

why do you say that Luke 16:10 is a parable about faith?

Hebrews13

5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
never will I forsake you
.”[a]
6 So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
What can mere mortals do to me?

For if, when we were enemies ☻, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life ☺.

Yes, indeed, and thank You God! :)

We will have trouble, but we also can have p-e-a-c-e about it. ♥
We serve the One Who overcomes all. :)

A New covenant where God places His laws in your heart and mind.
Hebrews 8
10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws in their mind and write them on their hearts; and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. 11 None of them shall teach his neighbor, and none his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord,’ for all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them. 12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their lawless deeds[b] I will remember no more.”[c] 13 In that He says, “A new covenant,” He has made the first obsolete. Now what is becoming obsolete and growing old is ready to vanish away.

How do you help people see through the lies that prosperity "preachers" teach?

They usually apply such tactics in order to receive givings from the poor or from believers wishing for a better financial position in life, thus it is a form of covetousness.

1 Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. 6 But godliness with contentment is great gain. 7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. 8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. 9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. 10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 11 But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12 Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses. 13 I give thee charge in the sight of God, who quickeneth all things, and before Christ Jesus, who before Pontius Pilate witnessed a good confession; 14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:
