zone, I remember seeing on channel 40 once some evangelist crying and pleading for money the entire hour. It was quite a theatrical show. Interspersed between the pleadings for more money they would cut too old ladies signing big checks over to the "ministry" and at the top of the screen would flash a single word in big bold letters: "OBEDIENCE".

I was floored at the shamelessness of it all. The show that followed was non other than an interview with Mr. "seed faith" himself, the originator of the 'you give me all your money and God will make you financially rich theology' Oral Roberts Sr. explaining how surprised he was at how well his idea had worked for him and his televangelist friends.
We laugh now. But it really is shameful...like you said...i can't judge their relation with God...but, could you imagine the looks on their faces one day when they stand before him...that's a serious as I am going to be for the rest of the night....Oh, I am running a special on some miracle corn seeds...only $19.99!!!

I got a prayer clothe in the mail one time. Not from Rod Parsley. Anyway, someone from OK sent it to me and said that if I make a donation to their church, and some other instructions I can't remember. I think I was only 19 or 20. Or close to that age anyway. But my mom and I were just like, "um, okayyyy."
You should have sent them some change from the dime...

The crazy thing is that I've met people in real life that told me with a straight face that they were introduced to the Gospel and become Christians through one form of TBN programming or another. All of them, had moved on after growing in their understanding but I guess people are getting saved. I've had some sense that God is involved through the mess we call TBN. So, I think it needs to be reformed ya know rather than shut down.
That's why I am reluctant to criticize too often Because if only one person is saved the it will not have been a waste. Some of the preachers may be crazy at times but the Holy Spirit is at work. Isn't that too cool of Him to watch form those who are honestly seeking Jesus? Maybe that's what the Bible means when it says that, "God is faithful?"

If people are getting saved by watching some of those nuts, it should give us all hope that we can witness with some result.

About a 100 prophecys from OT have been fulfilled in JesusChrist...several hundred others fulfilled historically... This makes prophecy interesting because the book of the morman and quaran dont have it, which gives the bible validity

they're okay.
they activate as soon as someone says "Thus saith The Lord"
... or claims to be an internet prophet who speaks with 17th century English.

Does that make him bad because he is a pre-tribber?
no.
it just means though he knows the scriptures by heart, his presuppositions are fixed.
so his conclusions are predictable.

Wow. I was always under the impression that there was a pre-trib rapture after seeing those "Left Behind" movies and Jack Van Impe always talking about it. I think I have to start studying the Bible more. I feel ashamed.
Is this the reason most people on here don't believe this guy?
And what is your stance on Pre-trib rapture?
Thanks

well, feeling ashamed is okay a little bit.
just conviction from the Spirit i guess..." I think I have to start studying the Bible more.":)

a rule of thumb - televangelists can't be trusted.
if they could they wouldn't be on TV.

there's no pretrib rapture. that's easily shown.
if you can do a day's reading on the origin of the teaching, it'll help undo a lot of other ideas that are attached to it.
start a thread if ya want.

So then the question remains: Will we be raptured mid-trib or post-trib? I hope it makes sense that we are raptured before the 7 bowl judgments because if we aren't, aren't we going to be beheaded for not accepting the mark of the beast and believing in Jesus? Even still, nothing or no power or threat of death could make me denounce Jesus.

I wish he was more orthodox though. It would be so kewl. "Jack Van Impe of Reformed Apologetics Institute will now be presenting a lecture on the dangers of dispensational theology."

There are a lot of us who believe in Pre-trib rapture. And it has nothing to do with Jack Van Impe or the "Left Behind" movies. If you read the Bible, you will see that there is a lot of evidence that supports it, and some that supports a post trib rapture. However, the important thing is not to focus on pre-trib or post-trib, but if you have a relationship with Christ. Because, if you don't, then it doesn't matter either way, you will still end up in Hell. And if you do, then it doesn't matter, as you will end up in Heaven.

the rapture is just the change that happens at the Second Advent.

This guy is one of the funniest guys there ever was. He was actually a Shakespearian actor on Broadway in his early years. He said something by mistake during a play and started laughing so hard that the audience joined in...the rest is comic history...
The above quote by me was intended for the picture of Leslie Nielsen...not Jack Van Impe. HAHA

Hello Radius. The Left Behind series were decent books but I would not substitute them for raeding scripture. Tim Lahaye the author even stated a lot of the content was for readability. I believe in the rapture but I really don't concern myself with it to the point of neglecting other important aspects of scripture. I prefer to leave the future in God's hands and try to focus on my own walk with God. I'd rather try to be faithful in the here and now and let Him take care of the future.
