All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.

Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
I recently started a new bible study . I reached for the normal tools I use for study. This got me wondering . What do y'all use ?
I will throw out what I use so y'all can see where I am coming from. I start of with about 4 different translations of the Scriptures. ESV , NASB , KJV , and the Amplified versions. Just to see how each phrase each passage.
Along with that I use Scripture dictionaries, interlinear translations, social or cultural background commentaries of the Bible , and a standalone concordance To get a better understanding of certain words. I also read general commentaries on Scripture like Mathew Henry I also use others for balance. That's a general overview of the stuff I have in book form to use . I use apps , e-books,and other electronic resources.
Enough about what I use what about y'all . What do you use ?
I also remember we must trust Scripture above all and the most important tools are prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Also Brothers and Sisters please let's talk about what best for you . We are not all gifted in the same ways . So The LORD my call some one to study in a way that best suits that person .
Blessings
Your brother in Christ

A regular dictionary, a concordance, and a Bible Dictionary.....commentaries are okay but sometimes don't even relate to the verse/context..... i like the first three books over commentaries any day....

I really like the Holman Bible Dictionary as it is very good with historical accuracy/pictures/maps/graphs of where the Bible took place...really cool imo....to see the places/artifacts/even old idols that the canaanites used to get an idea of what was going on back then....I highly recommend this book!

"The Word" Bible Study Software is very good, and free.
It is similar to Esword, but better in my opinion.
(if you get this, be sure to download the Websters 1828 Dictionary)

As far as hard copy - I have and use the KJV, ESV, Strong's and BDB, a Chumash (the stone edition), and a three volume set called "The Researchers Library of Ancient Texts".

Mostly I got the King James Version.. If I wonder about words I check out others and do a greek/hebrew word study through pastors and documentaries..If I then dont get it I go to God lol. Often the holy spirit points things out to me.

I USE WORDSEARCH 10 software..... It has the Greek and Hebrew as well as every translation of the bible. I mostly use NASB and the KJV as I am used to them but when studying I go to the Greek. Sometimes I go to commentaries but they could be just parroting what their denomination ahs said for years but I still read them.

The Holy Spirit is the One that teaches us about Christ. We could read all scripture in the original languages but that doesn't mean we have revelation of what it is actually saying. The Pharisees and scribes knew the "bible in the original languages" but they didn't know the revelation of it.

There are Greek scholars that disagree with each other about scripture and yet they all can read it in the original language.

All I needed to do was listen to the voice of God and obey all his commandments to learn everything he wanted me to know before the end of this age.

Deuteronomy 28:
1: And if you obey the voice of the LORD your God, being careful to do all his commandments which I command you this day, the LORD your God will set you high above all the nations of the earth.
2: And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the LORD your God.

Jesus and all the other prophets and saints listened to the voice of God and obeyed all his commandments too. This is how the scriptures were written and the word was spoken through us.

This site has around 30 different commentaries on it for all the verses.

https://www.studylight.org/commentary
Do you have an account with studylight? Wondering if there are any benefits that I'd deem useful by having an account.

In my case, getting email notifications about new sermons, daily devotionals, etc. would not be a "useful" benefit. I already get too many emails!

A King James Bible and a concordance. The word of truth defines itself. I try not to bring in man's thoughts on what God has said.
