What does it mean to renew your mind?
If it hasn’t happened already, you will find yourself struggling with wrong thoughts and ideas. I know. Though I’ve walked with Jesus for many years, there are still times that I find myself wrestling with such attitudes as selfishness, pride and lack of trust.

How fortunate for us that Jesus Christ will help us change our thought life. That doesn’t mean it’s easy, but it is possible. The Apostle Paul describes the change process this way: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Romans 12:2).

The Lord doesn’t want you to set your mind aside when you come to Him. Just the opposite. He created your mind and wants it fully productive, but in the right way. He wants it renewed. Don’t stop thinking, but start thinking and viewing things from His perspective.

A great way to begin is to meditate on the Scriptures. Take the verses mentioned so far in these studies, reflect on them, even memorize them. Scripture memorization is perhaps the most powerful way to discipline and renew your mind. Why not begin right now? Today’s verse is a wonderful “mind-renewing” scripture. Repeat it often, making it your companion throughout this day.

Have a blessed day

In the beginning; mankind was created in the image and likeness of its
maker.

And then came the forbidden fruit incident when mankind's perception of
decency was significantly altered, viz: mankind became its own moral
compass, i.e. it became a tin God.

Gen 3:22 . .The Lord God said: The man has now become like one of us,
knowing good and evil.

So then, mankind's intuitive sense of good and evil is now humanistic and
requires extensive training and renovation to get it back to thinking like God.

* Mankind's tin-God sense of good and evil was included in Jesus'
atonement. (Heb 9:13-14 & Heb 10:21-22)

2Timothy 1:7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Philippians 4:8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

So then, mankind's intuitive sense of good and evil is now humanistic and
requires extensive training and renovation to get it back to thinking like God.

That applies to Christians too; not only the world.

Heb 5:12-14 . . In fact, though by this time you ought to be teachers, you
need someone to teach you the elementary truths of God's word all over
again. You need milk, not solid food! Anyone who lives on milk, being still an
infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid
food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to
distinguish good from evil.

In other words: the renovation of a Christian's intuitive sense of what to
accept and what to refuse is on the shoulders of the Christian; and it's
accomplished via conscientious influence by means of radio, Sunday school,
sermons, seminars, Bible commentaries, Bible software, and Bibles
themselves.

* Folks whose minds have been infected with toxic versions of Christianity
are going to find renewal a bit difficult as they must be de-programmed
along with re-programmed. I knew a pastor in San Diego some years ago
whose specialty was former Jehovah's Witnesses. It was challenging work.

i still get a glimpse or 2 of those same bad thoughts once in awhile. it's never going to go away because it's a place where Satan has a lot of control in both unsaved and Saved people's mind. difference now is not getting carried away with a thought and letting it keep birthing into more. now when it happens, i just say, "in the Name of Yeshua/Jesus, Get Thee Behind me Satan." it fades away into a deep silence and i peacefully continue onward.

you know how this sounds when you first hear it ?

“And he lifted up his eyes on his disciples, and said, Blessed be ye poor: for your's is the kingdom of God.

Blessed are ye that hunger now: for ye shall be filled.

Blessed are ye that weep now: for ye shall laugh.

Blessed are ye, when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate you from their company, and shall reproach you, and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of man's sake. Rejoice ye in that day, and leap for joy: for, behold, your reward is great in heaven: for in the like manner did their fathers unto the prophets.

But woe unto you that are rich! for ye have received your consolation.

Woe unto you that are full! for ye shall hunger.

Woe unto you that laugh now! for ye shall mourn and weep.

Woe unto you, when all men shall speak well of you! for so did their fathers to the false prophets.

But I say unto you which hear,

Love your enemies,

do good to them which hate you,

bless them that curse you,

and pray for them which despitefully use you.
‭‭Luke‬ ‭6:20-28‬ ‭KJV‬‬

that sounds so extreme and contrary to normal life because our minds need to accept and believe and let this faith change us renew our minds and how we think about God and one another

remember how many times the New Testament says “ repent and believe the gospel “ repentance is about letting what we already think in our minds is true about God , be corrected by Jesus in the gospel letting what Jesus taught about God be the truth d not what we think that is contrary.

Repentance and belief of the gospel is what changes how we think not just a momentary change bout a situation or certain sin but a change of how our mind actually operates and functions

“and be renewed in the spirit of your mind;”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:23‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬

What does it mean to renew your mind?
Before a person becomes a genuine Christian they are under the influence of (a) the world systems and the ways of the world, (b) Satan, and (c) evil spirits. And the heart and mind are the battlegrounds where Light and Darkness are constantly at war. A big part of this is self-centeredness instead of Christ centeredness.

But after a person is saved they have (a) the Word of God which is the Sword of the Spirit and (b) the indwelling Holy Spirit. It is only through the Holy Bible that former sinners can cleanse or "renew" their minds so that their hearts and minds are in tune with God's ways and God's thoughts. And His thoughts are ways are totally different from the ways of the world. Therefore the first duty of every believer is to be immersed in the Word of God and let His Word dominate the heart and mind. "Thy Word have I hid in my heart" should be the primary goal. Yet too many Christians have a very superficial understand of Gospel truth and Bible truth. Some do not even understand justification by grace through faith and imputed righteousness.

Which means that Christians must totally reject and refute all the garbage and nonsense with which they are bombarded daily, particularly through the lying media and government propaganda. All the philosophies and ideologies of the world must also be totally rejected. And everything must be seen through the filter of Scripture. However, this has to be a conscious effort to ensure that the things of the world have absolutely no influence on how Christians think. We are to understand from Christ that the world hates Him and hates Christians. Many governments (including those in the West) have declared war on Christianity.

Unfortunately, today many churches -- particularly megachurches -- have allowed the world to infiltrate their churches and influence their members. This is particularly true in the way Christian music has changed and "Christian Rock" has come into existence. Then there is the turning to technology to present sermons and teachings, rather than have an actual Bible in hand and an actual hymnal in hand. Then there are a host of false apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers, all twisting the Word of God and deceiving the saints. Then there was the submission to COVID tyranny which destroyed many churches.

Then there is a lack of proper reverence during worship services, where people are sipping on coffee and fiddling with iPhones. Then there is the matter of abandoning formal clothing for casual clothing, even though those same people would not dare go to work casually dressed. These are all the ways of the world and not conducive to renewing anyone's mind. So now the battle is actually within the churches (in many cases) and if Christians are not vigilant they will go along with all this and accept it as the norm.

Well… our spirit man becomes born again but our soul which houses our mind, will and emotions needs to be restored which involves renewing our mind…. It is NOT immediate, it takes time to renew our mind.

Romans 12 tells us how…

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Worth repeating this whole Post -------What Nehemiah6 says here is the Truth --People should digest what he says here ------

I add this -----

When a person Accepts Jesus as their Lord and saviour ---their Spirit Is made Holy by and through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit ---but our minds still harbour the ways of this world and so to line up with your Spirit the Mind has to be changed to get rid of the Old Way of Worldly Thinking to God's Way of thinking so your Spirit and Mind are in sync ------and then your Body will move to God's ways not the ways of this world -------

Your Body moves to your thoughts Folks ------a brain dead person's body does not move

If you keep thinking about Stealing a small item from the store your in and you keep that thought going in your mind and visualize that in your mind ----which is meditating on it ----your Body will move to carry out your Thought of Stealing -----

These thoughts are called Strongholds of the Mind and they need to be cast down and replace with God's Thought about stealing -----it is a NO NO ------So God Tells us how to beat bad thoughts -----

And many don't know just how Powerful their imagination is ----God gave us an imagination to use for His Good -----picturing in the mind is very powerful ----as you visualize in your mind your thoughts ---

God Says this -----renewing your mind is critical to your doing and maintaining God's way and will for your life -------this is up to us Folks ------God gives us the tolls and we need to apply them -------

According to a recent Rassmussen poll, a majority of respondents believe America is losing “that old-time religion.” While more than 75 percent of online poll respondents said religious faith is important in their daily lives, adults who attend services at least weekly are most likely to strongly agree that too many religious institutions today are watering down or abandoning their traditional beliefs. That view is shared by 52 percent of evangelical Christians, as well as 34 percent of Catholics, 30 percent of Protestants, and 41 percent of Jews, Rasmussen found.

Don’t stop thinking, but start thinking and viewing things from His perspective.
Great thought, and it's a lifelong process and struggle to keep educating ourselves, using rational thinking, and allowing Jesus to change our hearts and minds to think and live like He did while He was a human being.

When I was saved there was this voice I'd hear in my sleep.Sometimes it will sing some of my favorite Christian songs or talk about a scripture. One time the voice was speaking and I don't remember the beginning but it started saying the scripture about the renewing of your mind. After that verse he said "you are your worst enemy."Then I woke up.

That's what it means to me.If a sinful thought enters my mind, and I entertain or act on that thought, that's on me.Or I can make Jesus the head of my church and rebuke satan.

I agree, it's written in the scriptures in Joshua 1: 8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. Also let's take a look at another key factor because if we truly love God, then we will obey "Every word" that proceeds out of his mouth (Matthew 4:4). Baptism is one of those words. In order to be baptized, certain events must take place: You must give up a lifestyle where sin has dominion, (ruler ship) over you. Sin according to 1 John 3:4, Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression (breaking) of the law. You must be taught "The Word", before you can adhere to God's Commandments (judgments\statues). These laws are found in the Holy Bible; beginning with Genesis and ending with Revelation. You must believe what the bible says and finally, you must confess that Jesus is Lord. Once this has been accomplished, you are qualified to be baptized in the name of Jesus. Then Peter said unto them, "repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." (Acts 2:38).
