If you think that being threaten with death or torture unless one believes something that they know is not true is the epitome of grace then you are sadly mistaken.
In fact, that would be a perfection definition of forced religion. Sorry if the LORD's hand saving me offends your law of salvation which requires you have faith in order to be saved since but I never said or implied that I was required to believe what I read, yet my hope is not in the words written in the Bible but in the Word of God.
But as far a being force, sometime a parent has to force a child to swallow a pill even though the child doesn't want to . Ever read the scripture, "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten" Chasten: NT:3811 paideuo (pahee-dyoo'-o); from NT:3816; to train up a child, i.e. educate, or (by implication) discipline (by punishment): Since faith comes by hearing, then you can read all you want, the fact you haven't heard the the Son of God merely shows that your faith lacks hope since hope that is seen is not hope, and faith without hope is like words without truth.
And you point is? Jesus loved the young ruler whom he told that he lacked just one thing from being perfect, and if the truth is that God is not a respecter of persons then what makes you think he wouldn't let you walk lost.

Dear Zmouth, The Dogon tribe of Mali West Africa believe that they are a people genetically engineered by aliens who came from the Canis Major constellation. Their oral tradition goes back 5,000 years or more and within it are scientific facts about the solar system that our modern technology has only recently corroborated. Their oral tradition also tells about a companion star to Sirius A called Sirius B which was only recently confirmed as actually true. If this isn't kinky enough, the Dogons also speak of another companion star which would be Sirius C. Orbiting this star is a planet from which the Nommos people come from. These Nommos visited the earth several times on a very large star ship. One can write this all off as tribal fairy tales but facts don't lie. There is in fact a Sirius B and Nassa has confirmed that Sirius C is real as well.
The tales of the Nommos visiting the earth and engineering people is interesting enough but then there are the Olmecs and their civilization in Mesoamerica. The Olmecs predated both the Mayan and Aztec civilizations. They appeared and suddenly disappeared and all that's left are their artifacts. Among the artifacts are their colossal stone heads. The strong African features of these heads makes them a real oddity to be found in south central Mexico. And surprise, surprise, they played ritualized ball games.
What has any of this to do with the Bible? Do stars actually move so you can follow them and then just stop and hover in place (Matt. 2:9)? There was a light from heaven that temporarily blinded Paul (Acts 9:3-8). A fire came from heaven and burnt up armies (2 Kings 1:10-12). There came fire from heaven and consumed every bit of Elijah's sacrifice including the stones of the altar (1 Kings 18:38). Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven (Gen. 19:24). There's the story of the angel who touched Gideon's sacrifice with his staff and fire came out of the rocks beneath the sacrifice and consumed it all (Judges 6:21). There's the prophecy in Zech. 14:12 about the people who fight against Jerusalem. Their flesh shall consume away where they stand, and their eyes and tongues will be consumed. This sounds like Sodom and Gomorrah fire from heaven. Then there's Elijah who was taken up to heaven by a whirlwind (2 Kings 2:11). Where did he go? Jesus was carried up to heaven too (Luke 24:51). Is there an alternative universe up there because all I see is blue sky.

Of course you are aware of what is referred unto as a 'hook' in writing? Thus the title of the thread in which I merely posed the hypothetical question in the OP regarding what number did the reader see. Apparently this must have struck a nerve since everyone seem to focus on the hook and not the debate. But what is the truth, well it isn't written whosoever is born of God to create doubt.
