I absolutely agree! Here in America we have SO many people claiming to be Christians that are not saved at all. They think they can trample the Grace of God underfoot and still find salvation.

However, because these people are so prevalent, they would try to lead astray the true Christian, by simply saying "God is love" and "you don't have to obey him."
Which is why Scripture charges us with the "duty" to stand ready to give an answer.........

Jesus said: If you love me, you would OBEY me............

Yep,

As I like to say, God fills up our gas tank. (he is the only one who can fill it) and he fills it to overflowing so we can take the excess to love others.
Exactly! And love teaches people about God's amazing grace AND it teaches them to obey his commandments.

Amen! So many people think they can be Christians without actually obeying God. But we know that those that actually love Him DO obey!

Exactly! That is what I am trying to show; the many facets of love.

I think people and even Christians get one part of it, but forget everything else, which can lead to error. Like the "God loves me, so I can do whatever I want."

i have literally had Christians ask me if it was ok to sleep around and act wild in college, because they could just ask for forgiveness after the 4 years. Major *facepalm*

1 John 5:3 is a perfect verse!
Without a doubt many (things) get lumped in under (love) without really understanding what Love really is. I love this and I love that<----has desensitized us to biblical love and it being boiled down to a commandment and or two commandments I should say...It seems strange to me that God should have to command (HIS PEOPLE) to love Him and to love our neighbor/brothers and sisters in Christ as we should. It is a quite simple concept that (WE) make hard by simple rebellion...

Love GOD by Keeping his commandments---->allows us to LOVE our neighbors/brothers and sisters and do what is right by them as we love God by keeping His commandments....

Jesus proved his love for the Heavenly Father and for humanity by two different aspects of Love as found under the above descriptions and....

1. For the Father<----Obeyed the commandments and fulfilled the (particular) will for Jesus as a man among humanity.
2. For humanity<---true selfishness as he...
a. Disrobed himself of the Glory that he had with the Father from eternity past...
b. Took upon him the form of a man so as to taste all temptation, trial and even death for humanity...
c. Had absolutely nothing of value in this world
d. Took a brutal beating and scourging while being rejected and spit upon and mocked
e. Gave up his life that we can be redeemed unto the Father by faith and inherit the Kingdom of God with Jesus as co-
inheritors.

Just a point to ponder....

Well said! That is what I was trying to get at, in that people lump so much under the word "love." Most of the time people interpret loving someone as, basically ""never do anything that might make them unhappy." It seems Christians are buying into this. But any good parent disciplines their child and shows them the right way to go, even if the child is unhappy in getting rebuked.

I think of my own mom. While it hurt when she showed me I was wrong in ways, I knew it came about, because ultimately she loved me and wanted me to be a Godly man.

We should have this same type of love for other Christians. That when they are in sin, we gently try and help correct them with God's word.

However, people that say love should never correct/ judge have a view of love that is not Biblical.

What are the commandments that define love?
Here is one.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8
New King James Version (NKJV)
4 Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; 5 does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; 6 does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

8 Love never fails. But whether there are prophecies, they will fail; whether there are tongues, they will cease; whether there is knowledge, it will vanish away.

How is one to be seen obedient to this? What must be done?

I agree....I never believed the (lie) that my mother used to tell me about loving me and this hurts me more than it is hurting you when she was whipping my butt off....but after having a son I fully get this concept and mom after all was telling the truth...God chastens all sons whom he will receive and I have suffered under the hand of the Lord against me in the past and yielded to it and the end result is the peaceable fruits of righteousness...the bible is clear.....if you belong to God and sin willfully God will light you up....if you can live in sin with no punishment from God then you are illegitimate....

Thank God for his love and his guiding hand that sometimes has to swat us on the rear to remind us of our son or daughter-ship if you will......

At the end of the day though as a dad I pour love out upon my son and have had to tune him up only a few times in his almost 19 years as he obeys me and knows that I love him and that He loves me....the analogy is obvious...:)

Yes but who will listen to them without preconceived bias?
I dunno........is it possible for anyone to listen to anything without some measure of "preconceived bias?" I wouldn't think so, but that has never stopped me.......... :)

Anyway, IF you post your thoughts, I will read them in the AM.........time for me to sign off for tonight........

God bless

Yes you can here any matter without preconceived bias. That is what the foundation of righteous judgment is as stated in that thread. You must see all men dead first.

Very good point.....I will add...is it a

1. Commandment
2. Fruit of the Spirit
3. Spiritual Gift

I will say all three.....A spiritual gift manifested as spiritual fruit that allows us to keep the commandments of God?
