What good is Bible study if it makes you more knowledgeable in Hell?

Repentance is the life of a Christian, casting down our own foolish speculations and lofty opinions(theological statements) and strongholds built against the knowledge of God in your life!

So, i'll confess that I have absolutely hated myself for many years, never good enough, pitied myself, wished I was gone, never born, hard on myself to the point where a friend had to say to me "would you stop dogging my friend so much" to my reply is who am I dogging, his reply "you"

So, God revealed this to me while watching James Macdonalds "Thinc Diphruntly" series I watched every week and journal-ed and prayed about. Some may have seen some of my posts about it here actually. IT's cool I am almost done/completely full on my journal started back in 2/18/13

Man! I thank God, even as I write this, He's been so faithful, Joy just in writing these things :D

I bought a book "God Sings" by Sam Storms

On the premise of Zephaniah 3:16-17 That God sings over you - that He rejoices in you, what He's doing in your life, not who you are now but who you will be by the grace of God's s to sanctifying work through the Holy Spirit bought by the Cross of Jesus Christ

Talk about something that will fire up your faith!

Learning and believing this - acting upon it

I will say this, some may not like this but it makes me lean towards election even more, yes it does! It may not you, but I do not judge you for that

I'll quote this from the book:

I didn't want Jesus, but He didn't wait till I wanted Him
He didn't wait until I had promised to reform
He didn't wait till I got good
He died for me when I hated Him
He never even told me off, when He was on the cross
He just said He loved me and forgave me

It's all of the Grace of God, and it is marvelous in my eyes!

How will people know what a strong hold is in their life if they don't know what a stronghold is??? You assume you are dealing with well seasoned believers and even then many still don't believe in what you say!

Stronghold - any system of thinking built up against the knowledge of God, in the world, and in your own life

Lofty opinion - theological position, usually contrary to God's Word

Money is a stronghold it is because we cannot let it go, it has a hold on us.

Use of money can be a stronghold in someones life, it isn't a blanket, general stronghold to put on people

I am the stronghold. I made it clear to God many times that I want him to shatter me into a million pieces and build me up again in his image. For every part of me that is not of him that is the strong hold that I ask him to destroy. I admit that I struggle with the very same issues of you op but I keep moving forward because even though I see the person I am now I can see the person I will be.
This is something I encourage everyone to do. You can see who you are now, who you once were, you can see every sin every flaw every screw up but no matter how many time you fall down you must have the strength to get up looking, seeing and knowing who God is going to make you as.

I know what your saying, but you are not the stronghold, your new in Christ, but old patterns of thinking are still there. There are qualities and gifting God has given you, talents etc that He can turn for our good and His glory.

Believe that God gives you that strength and redeems you, so it's the thinking patterns that need to be renewed.

The old man is the problem, but the old man is that of the old thinking - not me myself - I have a new Identity in Jesus Christ.

If we keep that focus at what point to do we continue in self-deprecation - which is a form of pride?
