The Hebrews in the last days...before the second coming of Christ

Well; whatever the last days are, Heb 1:1-2 speaks of them as already
underway at the time of the letter's writing; which has been estimated to be
+/- 68 AD.

Actually these Scriptures (below) confirm that the Church (consisting of the redeemed of the Lord) is the spiritual "building" or "house" or "temple" of God where each member is a "living stone": What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's... Ye also, as lively [living] stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ. (1 Cor 6:19,20; 1 Pet 2:5)

These verses put a tremendous responsibility on every Christian, since God is expecting spiritual sacrifices (including self-sacrifice) from those who are a spiritual house.

Also the Bible uses three metaphors for the Church. It is (a) the Body, (b) the Bride, and (c) the Building of Christ. We do not see the spiritual dimension in this life, but it will all come together eventually.
But those are different portions of Scripture with their own specific contexts. The same term used in various contexts may not be referring to the same thing each time.

The writer is speaking as present, but it is future yet to be, prophetically.

This is the “manifold wisdom of God” realized as He redeems all facets of man‘s existence and man’s arrangements in Christ Jesus, the name above all others. Christ Jesus is the way, truth, and life combined.

This economy flows from the house of God, these arrangements, and divine mandates. The Greek word from which we get “economy” is oikonomia. It refers to “the way in which grace is dispensed from the house” and is comprised of two words: oikos, which is usually translated as "household"; and nemein, which is best translated as "management and dispensation."

Not at all. All those Scriptures speak of the same thing. And this one verse settle the issue completely: And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. (2 Cor 6:16)

A house is a dwelling place. And by the grace of God He has made every believer -- the Church being the entire Body of Christ -- His dwelling place, His "temple". Thus "I WILL DWELL IN THEM". That settles the matter. Therefore we also have this Scripture: And hath put all things under His [Christ's] feet, and gave Him to be the Head over all things to the Church, which is his Body, the fulness of Him that filleth all in all. (Eph 1:22,23) Here the Church is called "the fulness of Him". Can any man comprehend this statement or anything in this connection? Only in eternity future will we understand all these truths.

But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end. Heb 3:6 (KJV)
So do you think that if some of the "we" don't hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end, they'll no longer be a part of that house?

Why would the redeemed not hold fast to that hope, which is more than a hope? It is a guarantee. And we need to remember what Peter has said. That the elect are kept by the power of God. Paul has said they have been sealed with the Holy Spirit. Christ has said that they are in the hands of the Father and the Son.
