but seriously, every time i hear dinosaurs and the bible there is some controversy. so what is the controversy? what do they have to do with being controversial to the bible?
The controversy is that the mainstream belief is that humans and dinosaurs never walked the earth together. That they were separated by many millions of years. The Bible tells us that God created animals on the sixth day, along with humans. So effectively, dinosaurs were here first, but not by much, not even a day.

so they (man and dinosaurs) were created on the 6th day. this tells me they would have lived together. so whats the big deal?

Many Christians hold to a theistic evolutionary model or old earth model. Dinosaurs living with humans doesn't gel with their non-biblical beliefs about the earth and its origins. That's the deal.

so i guess they think the 6th day might have been divided into ages or something. age 1 dinos, age 2 mamoths, age 3 man? something like that?

The day-agers believe something along those lines, yes. The days, according to them, are undefined long-ages (that along for evolutionary-length time-lines eg. millions and billions of years).

Perhaps yes but not all, the earth is clearly old and it is not something new, but how old or young the earth universe or earth is is unknown, the universe could be billions of years old the earth could very well be millions of years old, but plant life, man and animals does not necessarily have to be billions or millions of years old. A lot of fossils turn into rock so if you date the rock and it is millions of years old then you're not dating the bone you're dating the rock, lol.

If the earth is millions of years old then the YEC's have major problems.

Um. What? Haha! The earth isn't millions of years old. It's either 4.6 billion years old or around 6,000 years. There really isn't any other option. As for me, I'm a biblical creationist, so it's clear which of those two ages I would believe.

The lives of creationists are dominated by the need for absolute certainty. Religious beliefs provide just that sort of certainty. In the case of fundamentalist Christianity the only way to achieve such certainty is to view the bible as inerrant and to be read literally. The theory of evolution, in that it challenges the creation story in Genesis, is thereby regarded as the thin edge of the wedge. Much of orthodox Christian theology is based upon the theory of original sin. This theory, of course, is an interpretation of the Genesis creation story. If Genesis falls so much else falls with it. That is the source of the creationists' fear and why they oppose evolution so vehemently, even to the point of using fraud and outright lies in their defensive tactics.
