Everyone seems to look at the bible differently. Some say that it is a spiritual book, only to be read for spiritual understanding. Some just read it through, year after year, hoping it will do something for them. Some study it to understand who and what God is. Some think it is a guide for how to live successfully. Some read it as a book on history. How do you see the bible as it relates to your life?

All of the above and much more. It is a love letter from the Creator to His creation. It answers the question every man asks: why am I here? It explains the unexplainable. It gives reason to those things which are beyond mans knowledge.

Most importantly it tells us of Christ and Gods forgiveness of our sin through Christ's shed blood at Calvary. It tells us how to become inheritors of eternal life.

I believe the bible is the "inspired" word of God.. it is in our relationship with Him we are inspired too! Inspired to know Him, personally, communicating , listening, and following His lead..He gives us His thoughts towards us, His word, His promises and His truths. It is up to us to come to know Him and to believe,

All of that and more Red tent. some say that the OT doesn't apply now in this time, but there are MANY places where I seem to be where one of them stood and what happens with them shows me what to do also. God is all the way through, and teaches us all the way through. Do you ever find you in a situation that you read about? Awesome the answers that come forth.

Blessings

Isn't it the truth!! Someone said that only studying the NT was like going to High School before you go to Grade School, so much of it is simply not understood. I have noticed that those who do not know the principles that operate our world by learning all about the Father sometimes interpret the NT as opposed to those principles and of course that just can not be. Scripture never disagrees with scripture, God principles were at creation and they stay the same.

I found that, even though the sacrificial system was only a shadow of Christ and not Christ in full color and completeness, still without a study of that system we can't know the depth and completeness of what Christ is for us. The historical portion not only gives us history, but the prophets tell us exactly how God was working in that history. God is working today in our history in the same way, for God is eternal. Many things change in our world, but God is a constant.

One point. The Scriptures reveal the things about God, eternity, ourselves, and this world that we could not come to by our human reason, feelings or observations.

I look at the Scriptures like a complete life guide, in every area of life the is a place the Scriptures can lead you.

I look at it real simply, the Old Testament condemns me, Good thing the New Testament forgives me, I prefer the New and look at the Old as just that, Old. It tells me how history repeats itself, sin after sin, full of knowledge for me and then to use wisdom I learn in the New Testament to stay away from that sin, and when I don't through my own fault and choice, the Lord forgives and forgives and forgives. That's called Grace and Mercy. Hallelujah praise the Lord.

The Bible, in it's entirety, is the revelation of information from God that man cannot discover on his own. I also see it as the absolute and infallible instruction book on how to live. Another point is that it is the ONLY true source of knowledge of what the future holds.

I agree with your assessment of the different reasons people read the Bible. It is very sad that most of them do just that and no more - they read it.

2 Timothy 2:15 tells us, "Study to shewthyselfapproved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

If more Christians really studied the Bible, rather than just read a few verses every day or a daily reading from a devotional book, there would be much less contention and division among Christians for others to criticize. The Bible can't be the benefit God intended for it to be for us if we don't study it.

I would love to introduce you to your Father, He created you and loves you. He wants to direct you so you can live in this world with safety and contentment, and with Him forever. He wrote 39 books telling you how He guides you. The Father is the one who sent His Son to save you when sin would keep you from all this.

Hello RedTent...I believe the Bible was written specifically to those who are trying to live holy lives as a guide of instruction, examples from men and women who were just like us (for us to relate to) and encouragement. Everything we go through in our lives today already happened in the Bible. The Book of Genesis alone, covers topics on everything that is going on in this present day! Any type of guidance I need on any topic can be found in the Bible. I study the Bible because I love it, for guidance and encouragement to keep living a holy life.
