Recently, I have noticed: "deep state would love it." + "Love and value
women" +
"love of the truth" + "love how pretty fall is" + "love to see grandparents
enjoying"
+
@Magenta?: "loved picking the pieces of baked apple out of the pie"
Yummee! :giggle: So, without further ado, let us further explore this
great doctrine:

Precious friends, please be Very Richly Encouraged and Edified:
-------------------------------

"Start talking about love, and many men are ready to look for the TV
remote or some other form of exit from the conversation. That’s because
when it comes to the concept of love, even the love described in the Bible,
many people associate it with feelings, and men generally don’t like talking
about feelings. But is love a feeling?

I do not believe love, biblically speaking, is a feeling. Instead, love is a
critical doctrine of Scripture and is of such importance that it seems
inconceivable that such a great doctrine would be rested upon emotion.

The Bible emphasizes the idea of love as an act of selflessness and
sacrifice. It teaches that true love goes beyond fleeting emotions and
requires intentional commitment. Love, from a biblical standpoint,
involves purposely showing kindness, compassion, and forgiveness
toward others, regardless of how our feelings are at the moment.
Many marriages have needlessly ended under the excuse, 'I don’t
love him/her anymore.'

''I am persuaded that love and humility are the highest attainments
in the school of Christ and the brightest evidences that He is indeed
our Master.'' —John Newton

What is Love?

Love might seem simple enough to define, but trying to do so in one
sentence or even one paragraph is as futile as trying to describe God
in such a limited space. No “law of first mention” could be used to
describe God or love. If, as that great hymn says,

'The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.'

...“The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell.
It goes beyond the highest star, and reaches to the lowest hell.”

...then indeed, any chance at understanding love requires the
whole Scripture. Paul’s prayer for the Ephesians was that they

“May be able to comprehend… And to know the love
of Christ, which passeth knowledge” (Eph. 3:18,19).
If God is love (cf. 1 John 4:8,16; 2 Cor. 13:11), then it follows that we
must know God to know love. Thus, love should only be understood
in the same way that God should be understood, and that’s through
the complete revelation that God gave us of Himself, and that
requires the entire Bible..."

Do you think that maybe this unfamiliarity or uninterest with biblical love in our culture might be partially due to our poor translations of love to the English from Greek?
I try to describe this and all but the most educated look at me like I’ve got 6 eyes 😳🧐🤪and I just get the response of “man, I don’t have time for all that I just know love is love right?”.
but clearly the Greeks had different words for different types of love.

“Four unique forms of love are found in Scripture. They are communicated through four Greek words (Eros, Storge, Philia, and Agape) and are characterized by romantic love, family love, brotherly love, and God's divine love.”

The feeling of love alone isn't enough, the act of love is important. Similarly, the act alone isn't enough, the feeling of love is also important. When we look at caregiving, for example, most people ideally prefer to be cared for by loved ones (who offer both act and feeling) instead of places like nursing homes (who only perform the act).

Amen.

We must never live our lives with our own concepts of what love is. Instead, we must humble ourselves and allow the Holy Spirit to show us who God truly is because it is only through truly knowing God, who is love, that we come to know what love truly is.

The love that God extends to mankind in general per John 3:16 is a
nondescript love that anybody can practice because it's merely benevolence,
e.g. kindness, sympathy, generosity, tolerance, charity, courtesy, and keeping
a civil tongue in one's head.

The love that God extends to His son's friends per John 16:27 goes beyond
benevolence. It's an emotional kind of love that expresses itself in feelings
like fondness and affection.

The love per John 3:16 is typically extended without passion or prejudice;
whereas the love per John 16:17 speaks of heart-to-heart bonding, e.g.
1Sam 18:1 & 2Sam 1:26.

I grew up in a dysfunctional home. Consequently the thought of God actually
liking me, instead of only tolerating me as a nuisance and/or an inconvenience,
is nigh unto impossible for me to comprehend.

Love has everything to do with it because Jesus laid down his  life for us on the cross by shedding his blood so that we can be forgiven of our sins. He paid our sin  debt in full past, present, and future. There is no greater  love. He offers us the gift of salvation for those who accept we are born again of his Spirit, and will have eternal life with him in heaven.

God's Love is Agape and there is no conditions attached to this Love -----this Love is a fruit of the Holy Spirit ---This Love is ----the root---the tree stem and the branches that extend from the tree that produces all the other fruits of the Spirit -----from Agape comes ----joy --peace that goes beyond all understanding -longsuffering ----faithfulness --kindness --goodness ---and self control -----

This is the Love that True Christians need to achieve -----this love ---loves the unlovely -----no matter how bad someone treats you or how bad someone speaks of you ---you Agape them anyway -----

This Love Never Fails ------

Not many of us who call ourselves True Christians have mastered this Love -------and will probably never fully master showing Agape in our Lifetime -----

God doesn't have Agape ----God is Agape -----He loves us with all our baggage ------He never leaves nor forsakes us no matter what we do or how much we reject Him ----

How Great is that -----Amen
