Ah, exactly what I have come to expect from you Sparky, no meaningful exegesis, just name calling.

As to Paul evangelizing in the synagogues...

Act 13:42 And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Paul was speaking to Gentiles here.

Act 13:44 And the next sabbath day came almost the whole city together to hear the word of God.

Here we are in a Gentile city and almost the whole city came the next SABBATH to hear Paul. Why didn't Paul explain to them they did not have to meet on the Sabbath? Why didn't he instruct them on meeting on the first day of the week?

OK, now you can go back to your name calling.

Oh, by the way, be aware that Sparky is a Tkachite.
Actually, I don't follow Tkach..nor am I associated at all with GCI. I attend an Evangelical Free Church. But good try :)

Gentiles as well as Jews met in the Synagogue..unconverted ones...to hear Scripture read. That is where the scrolls resided. And, Gentiles could have been converted, as well as Jews, and continued to attend these Synagogue meetings to hear Scripture read.

Produce one Scripture, though, that says that CHURCH MEETINGS were being conducted on the Sabbath after the resurrection. I can produce Scriptures that say church meetings were conducted on the first day of the week after the resurrection.

My contention is that Colossians 2:16-17 is referring to the Judaizers, who were trying to judge the Christians in Colossae that they had to observe festivals and the weekly Sabbath, as well as food and drink offerings and New Moons. The entire Old Covenant, including the festivals and Sabbaths, are no longer in effect. I have quoted the appropriate Scriptures on previous posts.

Armstrongism is basically just pick and choose Old Covenant, like other similar systems. A lot of these groups simply picks and chooses what they claim still applies, and condemns non-observers as unsaved or spiritually inferior. I don't mind the ones which practice them, and doesn't condemn. That's what Romans 14 is all about.

Now we must keep every day holy, not just the seventh day.
I do not think, we have the ability to make any day holy.

We keep the Sabbath day, not because we can make the day holy. It is because God made it "Holy"

And God blessed the seventh day (sabbath), and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Genesis 2:3

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Exodus 20:8

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read. Luke 4:16

The idea is spread around that Saturday is the biblical Sabbath day, I don't think anyone today really knows for sure which day is the actual day that God called the Sabbath, we just know that it came around every 7th day. It is obvious that the Jews did not have moon day, or sun day, as we have. If anyone has historic proof of what day of our week would be the Jewish OT Sabbath I would love to see it.

Matthew 11:28 [FONT=&quot]Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Whenever you come to the Lord Jesus Christ is when the Actual Sabbath is.

Did you know that Sabbath means Rest?

Did you know that your desire to make the sabbath into a day that you can 'keep' is an attempt at making a spiritual law back into a carnal one? One that is kept by your understanding and your work.

Did you know that if you do that then you are required to keep all the law in the same fashion without mistakes? see Galatians 3:10-14[/FONT]

That's the question I'm asking. :) My family and I always went to church on Sunday's. However, I know some people go on Saturdays or Wednesdays. So what is the actual Sabbath on? And does it matter to God what day we do worship on? Bible verses would be helpful. :)
The Son of man is Lord even on the Sabbath. I guess that means Sabbbath is whichever day, or days, the Lord tells us take off. If you work on Sunday and have Monday off, the Lord might have you use Monday as your Sabbath.

[27] And he said to them, "The sabbath was made for man, not man for the sabbath;
[28] so the Son of man is lord even of the sabbath." Mark 2:27-28 RSV

Salvation has always been the same from the time of Adam up to our day. The believers in the old testament was not saved by their own works alone.

We are all saved through the sacrifice of Jesus. The believers in the old testament was looking forward to the cross. And we are looking back at the cross what Jesus accomplished for us. The law couldn't save them. The law is good and just, it is the very character of God. Jesus says if you love me keep my commandments.

The whole of the ten commandments is summed up in the two greatest commandments. Love God (1st 4 of the commandments) and Love your neighbour(the other 6 commandments).

What are the charactertics of the last day church of Jesus Christ according to scripture?

Revelation 12:17 And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 14:12 Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

If that were the case then how did the Pharisees and Saduccees miss it?

And what does that have to do with post #146?

This is not some Jewish sabbath, this is Gods Holy convocation for man.

-Astronomy observence

"The human race never lost the septenary [seven day] sequence of week days and
that the Sabbath of these latter times comes down to us from Adam, though the ages,
without a single lapse."—Dr. Totten, professor of astronomy at Yale University.

"Seven has been the ancient and honored number among the nations of the earth.
They have measured their time by weeks from the beginning. The origin of this was
the Sabbath of God, as Moses has given the reasons for it in his writings."
—Dr. Lyman Coleman.

"By calculating the eclipses, it can be proven that no time has been lost and the
creation days were seven, divided into 24 hours each."—Dr. Hinkley,
The Watchman, July 1926 [Hinkley was a well-known astronomer].

"There has been no change in our calendar in past centuries that has affected in
any way the cycle of the week."—James Robertson, Director American Ephemeris,
Navy Department, U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington, D.C., March 12, 1932.

"It can be said with assurance that not a day has been lost since Creation, and all
the calendar changes notwithstanding, there has been no break in the weekly cycle."
—Dr. Frank Jeffries, Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and Research
Director of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, England.

There is no question about which day the seventh day of the week is.

The weekly cycle

the break between the shift from the Julian to the Gregorian calendar?
There was a well known break of 10 days.

In 1582, that Thursday the 4th was followed by Friday the 15th.
The weekly cycle was not interrupted. Now take a look at 1752, Wednesday
the 2nd was followed by Thursday the 14th. Again, the calendar had to be
adjusted to correct it to the seasons but the weekly cycle remained unchanged.

the oracles of God

This is he, that was in the church in the wilderness with the angel
which spake to him in [the mount Sina], and with our fathers:

who received the lively oracles [ to give unto us ] Acts 7:38

What advantage then hath the Jew? or what profit is there of circumcision?
Much every way:chiefly, because that unto them

were committed [the oracles of God]. Romans 3:2

For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need
that one teach you again which be the first principles of

[the oracles of God]; and are become such as have
need of milk, and not of strong meat. Hebrews 5:12

If any man speak, let him speak as [the oracles of God];
if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth:

that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ,
to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen. 1 Peter 4:11

-there is no question today that the 7th day of the week [sat] is the Sabbath

We all know what sabbath the Pharisees kept. They kept a sabbath which was legalistic, you could eat the egg which chicken laid on the sabbath. You needed to wash your hands in certain way. More in ritual way.

Many claim Jesus did break the sabbath commandments, if He did. We are still in our sin. Then Jesus wasn't the perfect sacrifice. Jesus was the creator and He came to show us the way.

Jesus didn't followed the tradition of men. He was the creator and He understood the true meaning for creating the sabbath in order to worship, fellowship, minister to the needy and those who are sick. Jesus broke the sabbath of the Pharisees.

The sabbath is what we would call saturday.
The Lord's day is what we would call sunday.

Thats all there is to it folks, its very simple. Oh and btw to all the sabbath keepers, there is more to the shabbos than just not going to work, so you are not actually keeping it.

In the post cross era the sabbath is rest in Christ through obedience to His commandments which are not grievous, therefore the sabbath is 24/7 abiding in Him....

These posts seem to be saying that when God created Adam that He gave Adam Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and then Saturday, and said to Adam that Saturday was the Sabbath...I don't see any proof that the day that God designated as the Sabbath can be proven today...just folks saying that they know. Our Saturday is obviously not named after the Jewish Sabbath, so where is the evidence? Think, when God designated the ORIGINAL Sabbath, then six days later that day came around, that was around six thousands years ago and if a week was ever interrupted then that particular day would be lost. God did designate the Jews 7th day as the Sabbath, however that was around four thousand years ago and the Jews as a nation did not even exist for 1900 years, today non of them even know their tribe.

And I would love to see where in scripture it is called the 'Jewish Sabbath'. Last time I read the Bible it said 'it is the Sabbath of the Lord.

And you take this to mean you can do whatever you like on ot or with it ?
God makes something 'holy for a divine use and purpose ....but it seems to be 'beyond man's recognition.

Some people have to work on your sabbath - hospital personnel, for example. Their day of rest has to fall on another day.

Oh. There's a legalistic sabbath, and then there's another sabbath.

Jesus broke what the lawyers at the time THOUGHT was the sabbath.

Same thing Christians do today. They break what the legalists and lawyers THINK is the sabbath.

But the lawyers and legalists were wrong. And still are.

Have you read Hebrews 4? Do you know what sabbath means?

And again you think that the way of the world today is the right way ?
GOD must have got it wrong to choose the Sabbath as His holy day when He must have known it would not fit in with us !
You are not thinking on GOD's terms but the worlds...so GOD must be wrong !
Eccl 8v11, Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.... In plain english 'people ABUSE God's patience for their own purpose.
