Psalm 82:5
They do not know nor do they understand; They walk about in darkness; All the foundations of the earth are shaken.

Luke 21:26
men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

Hebrews 12:26
And His voice shook the earth then, but now He has promised, saying, "YET ONCE MORE I WILL SHAKE NOT ONLY THE EARTH, BUT ALSO THE HEAVEN."

Hebrews 12:27
This expression, "Yet once more," denotes the removing of those things which can be shaken, as of created things, so that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Hmmmm...it does raise an interesting question. How do you know when the Bible speaks in parables or figurative language and when it speaks literally?

Blade seems to take most verses literally that I would read figuratively. While Birdie takes verses figuratively which I would read literally.

I don't accept that the waters above heaven is people under the law and the waters above are born again people because it doesn't make senses when you continue and read the story of Adam and Eve. Also God didn't make people until day 6. How could he divide them in day 2?it gets too complex and convoluted to read the Bible in such a manner. Yes the Bible is written in Parables in that it shows many people's spiritual journey to and away from God. It shows God's faithfulness even when He judges his adulterous Bride. However one can get carried away by making everything a parable. It clearly says Jesus explained to his disciples the meaning of the parables. God does the same in the Bible in clear language that is not a parable. Jesus is the Light in Genesis 1...Adam and Eve are the people who hide from the Light after they sinned (Genesis 3, John 1). That is the parable.

1 Corinicles 16
Tremble before Him, all the earth.
The world also is firmly established,
It shall not be moved.
Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad;
And let them say among the nations, “The Lord reigns.”
Let the sea roar, and all its fullness;
Let the field rejoice, and all that is in it.
Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the Lord,
For He is coming to judge the earth

****shaken refers to God removing evil people from power and established means that even God comes to judge the world than those whose foundation is in Christ won't be shaken and removed.

I will check out the other Bible verses but I don't see it talking about the literal earth not ever moving or it being flat.

It’s called rightly dividing the Word of Truth. The word can be both spiritual and literal. It is a two edged sword.
Hebrews 4:12New International Version (NIV)
[SUP]12 [/SUP]For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Second firmament, the space between the outer space beyond earth and the inter space of earth where we can live without space suits etc...

Third firmament, doesn't take a rocket scienctist to figure that out...

The first heaven consisted of the the earth atmosphere where the clouds and birds are. The second heaven is where the sun, stars, and moon is. The third heaven is the dwelling place of God. When Paul said he was caught up to the third heaven (2 Corinthians 12:2), he was referring to the very dwelling place of God.

As a note, the Mormons erringly teach that the three heavens consist of telestial, terrestrial, and celestial. They divide the third heaven into 3 compartments dwelt by people after they die.

The First Heaven: Earth Atmosphere

Deut. 11:17 -- Then the LORD's anger will burn against you, and he will shut the heavens so that it will not rain and the ground will yield no produce..

Deut. 28:12 -- The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands.

Judges 5:4 -- O LORD, when you went out from Seir, when you marched from the land of Edom, the earth shook, the heavens poured, the clouds poured down water.

Acts 14:17 -- "Yet he has not left himself without testimony: He has shown kindness by giving you rain from heaven and crops in their seasons..

The Second Heaven: Outer Space

Psalm 19:4,6 -- In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun... It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other..

Jeremiah 8:2 -- They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens which they have loved and served..

Isaiah 13:10 -- The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light.
The Third Heaven: God's Dwelling Place

1 Kings 8:30 (phrase repeated numerous times in following verses) -- then hear from heaven, your dwelling place..

The highest heaven, the third heaven is indicated by the reference to the Throne of God being the highest heaven:

1 Kings 8:27 -- "But will God really dwell on earth? The heavens, even the highest heaven, cannot contain you.

Deut. 10:14 -- To the LORD your God belong the heavens, even the highest heavens, the earth and everything in it.

Psalm 2:4 -- The One enthroned in heaven laughs; The LORD scoffs at them.
Excellent post...Explains it very well and shows how the Bible needs to be taken in context.

There are three "heavens" found in the Bible.
1) Microcosm
2) Macrocosm
3) Multiverse

Luke 17:21
"Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you"

Christians have either ignored Heaven #1 or are taught it doesn't exist or that it's somehow a "Gnostic" or "New Age" concept.

The Sky and Space are #2.

#3 is New Jerusalem, where God is, the Spirit World etc.

It's just that simple.

I kind of mixed mine up a little but I agree that the first firmament being earths atmosphere, though the second IMO is the center of the galaxy which mind you looks just like a straight bar of light IMO in my opinion can't get any straighter than that sign in the night sky...

Mailmandan posted these verses earlier,

Psalm 19:4,6 -- In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun... It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other..
Pitched a tent means the spiral arms of the Milky Way the rest yea the Galaxy spins at little slower than our solar system say 240 millions years for one rotation of the Galaxy...

Jeremiah 8:2 -- They will be exposed to the sun and the moon and all the stars of the heavens which they have loved and served..

Isaiah 13:10 -- The stars of heaven and their constellations will not show their light.

Some brainstorming for you...

Psalm 19:4,6 -- In the heavens he has pitched a tent...
Fabric of Space.

... spiral arms of the Milky Way...
The Four Rivers that flow from Eden.

;)

Oh and here is the Multiverse Tabernacle...

Revelation 11:19
"And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail"

Here is the Microverse Tabernacle, or Kingdom Within...

Heaven Within is a reflection of Heaven Above...

Matthew 6:10
"Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven"

Earth...

Ariel82...there are over 200 types of sentence expressions in the Bible. Only time and 'Listening to other scholars', after which you research it yourself to see if it were true, is the Key.

I try to follow :

Acts 17:11 (KJV)

"These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so."
