I have always worshipped in church, either as a member of the worship team, a worship leader and the music director for quite a few years. Of course, part of worship is the Word of God being preached. When one preacher stopped using the Word of God, I left the church.

I worship in my car, and especially while riding my bike. This last year has really been bad since I haven't been able to ride my bike much, because of my RA med failures. Hopefully, I will be back on the bike soon, and get some fall riding in, while praising God for his incredible creation.

I have been worshiping in church in Baptist congregations for the last 10 years. Before that, Alliance and Evangelical Free Church. Before that, I was in the orchestra in a big Pentecostal Church. That was fun! We did Christmas and Easter productions with a 60 piece orchestra and 100 piece choir. Over 10,000 people attended over the weekend. Many unsaved people came through the doors and made commitments to Christ. I think that outreach made all the practicing and rehearsals worth it!
Um. Angela. What on earth would a church preach on, if not the Word of God?

The last church I went to, they had a girl there preaching that there wasnt just "two genders", and that we needed to be respectful of those who dont feel they are what they were born as.

It was a really weird thing to happen for me, and I stopped going after that night :p

Oh Tintin, you need to get out and visit more liberal churches.

They can talk for hours and not say anything at all.

: )

Ugh! Progressive 'Christianity' has the stench of Hell itself. Good on you for changing churches.

Oh, and on topic post, I worship God often, when I learn something new that boosts my spirits, or hear the testimony of another of His flock, or when walking to work (I think about God mostly on my hour walk to work :p) when working, when dealing with difficulties and feeling better when calling out to Him, when I do well, I praise and worship Him several times a day, and I feel more happy than I ever have in my past life when I do :p

I worship with the church that Christ established- the Church of Christ (Romans 16:16). Why? Because it is the only one I found that matches the one true church spoken of in the bible, and have found false doctrine in all the other religions i've studied up on. Like the bible says, study to show thyself approved onto God. It also says, "They worship Me in vain, teaching the doctrines and commandments of men- which are merely human rules.

I do not want my worship to be in vain! I want heaven as a result of my worship to God.

Wow, just wow. Lutheran, Pentecostal, Baptist etc. aren't different religions. They're different denominations. And they believe all the same essential tenants of the Christian faith. It's in the minor details that they differ, sometimes greatly.

Heaven is not the result of your worship, it is a result of faith.
If your church is teaching you ant other way, worship. baptism, church membership. good works, they are teaching you heresy and you should leave now.

sadly a lot of their churches teach this. Especially if they have been of the universal sect (former boston churches of Christ)

Well, Osteen preaches the word of God quite consistently. But because he often does not use Christianese and doesn't give people verse numbers to look up, thereby "authenticating" what is being said, look at the flack most people here give him.

Many people just have to hear their sermons in "churchy-sounding" vernacular, or else they are unable to associate the message with the Bible, nor relate to the teaching.

I worship at home, in church, where ever I am, because God is worthy of praise.

I go to worship Jesus with a bunch of redeemed sinners like me in a local baptist church, where I am learning to look at the treasure within, though the vessels maybe flawed and fragile. I seek to be a blessing, to uplift and encourage.

It is so much harder to see what God is building and ignore the failure, than to respond in the flesh and get upset.
I get the impression the church is there to prepare us for what the world throws at us, if we cannot reach out to our fellow believers, we are not exactly going to do very well with the lost.

I have wondered the past few years if they actually have how to Talk God 101 and 201 classes in college, So that people can "sound Godly" when they preach.

I can't name all of the places that we have discovered and been shown where we can and do worship
the Creator and Master of us all -
one of the things that we will never get over or tire of is God's timing and of course, the wonder of Him
and the wonder of it all....

bending to our knees or folding or lifting up our hands does show our great honor and respect, but when
we learn to love each other and forgive each other as He does us, this always takes the meaning of worship
to a higher level,

ZEC.14:20
In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD;
and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar.

According to the Word we are all living stones of the Temple with Jesus Christ as the Head and the Corner Stone. He is the Stone the builders rejected, gone to sit at the right hand of the Father.

He teaches His Apostles about the buildings of the Temple that there will not be one stone left upon the other before He returns. This dismantling of the Temple began then, and today there is hardly one stone left upon the other.

When two or more are gathered in His name, He is present. He is soooo good, amen. Where ever we may be, amen.

PLEASE! Lets not get off on leaders and denominations. This is just between us and God.

I agree that we can worship anywhere at any time. I like a true organized group of believers to worship with also. I prefer the accountability and direction. Sometimes in private study I get stuck and I like the bible study groups at our organized Church. I helps to keep straight and squelch pride.

Hebrews 10:25

Holman Christian Standard Bible
not staying away from our worship meetings, as some habitually do, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day drawing near.

I prefer to worship at a non-denominational Community Church group.
(can we not tear other church groups apart)...Just wondering.

Everywhere, and because God is worthy of worship.

Politics, stories about their family life, the prosperity message, feel good about yourself, and honestly? The ones that got us to move on are simple ramblings. Maybe it was connected to God's word, but some preachers ramble so much, I never did get how it was connected or what they were talking about.

Well, I have noticed that you begin by adding about four "O"s to the middle of the word, "God", making it "Gooooog".
Then you learn how to add an "AW" sound to the center of Lord", making it "Loawrd."
And you polish up your delivery by practicing accentuating the first syllable of "JES'-us!"

In all fairness, I just gave a list of preaching I've experienced, (except for the politics one), and I've never gone to anything but conservative churches. Sometimes liberal and conservative are merely political leanings. lol
