If Jesus walked into your church, which Bible would he carry under his arm? Which Bible would he quote from?

This question appeared in my mailbox this morning from Chick Publications. It is promoting a book which tells us why Jesus would use the King James bible and only that Bible.

Seriously, would Jesus only use the King James Bible? I do not think so, he may have a copy of Greek or Aramaic tucked under his arm. This claim is yet another indicator of a cult, if you want any more proof that King James Onlyism is a cult then here it is, the cult is telling us what Jesus would do and claiming Jesus for thier cause and agenda.

One thing this cult over look is that the texts making up the bible were translated into numerous languages within a few years of Christ Ascension, they also over look the fact that once the Bible was collated it was then translated into just about every European language going. With the invention of the printing press the 15th Century saw a boom in Bible translations and distribution of them across Europe, most nations commissioned Bibles in thier own languages. THe King James bible was a relative late comer to the party.

Once you see how many copies and translations were produced of the more influential languages, you can easily apply the verse the King James Only Cult use to support their claims to these copies as well.

Anyway I Here is the rest of the blurb, if you do not think this group is a cult, then this should help persuade you it is.

You know how people get all upset and sometimes angry when someone talks about one bible version being better than another? It happens a lot in Bible studies because the differences in versions are painfully obvious to all.

Everyone's got an opinion as to which Bible is best.

And because of all the glaring differences and discrepancies in the different versions, the Lord himself is forced to pick just one of them. The funny thing is that hardly anyone ever considers the opinion of the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't you think he has a preference? Which one would he use?

Which Bible Would Jesus Use? gives answers to the biggest, nastiest, and most annoying objections you get when defending the King James Bible. Now when you hear the same old, childish comments, you'll quietly and confidently chuckle. You'll feel sorry for those who don't have a Bible they can believe in. But you won't be upset anymore.
You'll be able to feed the sincere with answers to their legitimate questions and you'll be able to walk away from the scoffers who don't have ears to hear, knowing you could not have said or done any more to persuade them.
Which Bible Would Jesus Use? is a new, entertaining and easy-to-read volume that delivers convincing answers to the most difficult objections posed by King James Bible critics.

Once you know for sure which Bible the Lord has already chosen and why, you'll never again have any doubts about "which Bible" is God's Bible.

17 Pay attention and turn your ear to the sayings of the wise;
apply your heart to what I teach,
18 for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart
and have all of them ready on your lips.
19 So that your trust may be in the Lord,
I teach you today, even you.

I guess since He is the word, He can't carry Himself around.

You are asking a question, yet attacking a specific response (the KJV) as a 'cult'. It also appears like you are promoting someone's book as well. Not sure what your main reason for the thread actually is, however, I will answer the title's question. Without bias, I once sat down and did an exhaustive study on the English translations of the Bible. The conclusion I came to was that the KJV was the most accurate from the Hebrew/Greek. I also discovered that the 2 lines of manuscripts that our current Bibles originate from are not the same. Even though the one used for the more modern translations is older (which is what most focus on), it has been purposefully altered by corrupt men to such a degree that it becomes obvious to the diligent student. If Jesus were to carry an 'English' Bible, my opinion would have to lean towards the KJV. I guess, according to some people, that would make me a member of a cult.

God Bless

He quoted from the Septuagint, a modern translation at the time....
The scrolls were exact copies of the original scrolls during the time of Moses. The Scribes job were to make exact duplicates in the same way of that it was written from the beginning, not even no changes couldn't be done to them and they are to memorize everything that was written, down to the single dot and which nothing couldn't be out of alignment. But the Scribes had translated them into Greek since the Pharisees didn't speak or read Hebrew that well. But I believed that they had brought the scrolls in its original state into service just for the ceremony as a tradition but without reading from them. But Jesus had came and open them up and has read from it, but He was the son of a plain ole' carpenter that didn't know how to speak Hebrew.

Luke 4:20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him.

Revelation 5:2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?”

John 1:42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter)
.

Genesis 11:28 While his father Terah was still alive, Haran died in Ur of the Chaldeans, in the land of his birth.

Cephas.Of Chaldee origin (compare keph); the Rock; Cephas (i.e. Kepha), a surname of Peter -- Cephas. Strong's Greek: 2786. Κηφᾶς (Képhas) -- "a rock," Cephas, a name given to the apostle Peter

Jesus had to translated to them at times from the original language during the time that the covenant was made into Greek.

Maybe the same scripture that He read from in the church 2000 years ago, and everyone would hear it in their native tongue, the same as they heard the Holy Spirit speaking.

If Jesus walked into your church, which Bible would he carry under his arm? Which Bible would he quote from?
He would not be carrying any Bible, what Jesus says out of His mouth IS the WORD of GOD.

If He were going to speak to an Hebrew group, He would have a Hebrew Bible. If He were going to speak to a Greek group, He would have a Greek Bible. If He were going to speak to a Spanish group, He would have a Spanish Bible. IF He were going to speak to an English group, He would have the KJV Bible. He would not be carrying over a hundred different versions of the Bible. HE would most certainly be carrying the Bible that He has protected for over 400 years, and still does to this day. He would be carrying the Bible that so many of His brothers and sisters have died protecting, preserving it. He would be carrying the Bible that thousands upon thousands have came to the Lord and became Saved because of it. Thousands of our Christian brothers and sisters have been killed for the KJV Bible, Thousands of them have came to the Lord because of that version.

This claim is yet another indicator of a cult, if you want any more proof that King James Onlyism is a cult then here it is, the cult is telling us what Jesus would do and claiming Jesus for thier cause and agenda.
Can we assume something here for a moment? Let us assume that God did in fact ordain the KJV Bible as His Word to the English speaking people of this world. Can you even assume that for a moment? Satan would try to get rid of it would he not? Yes, History proves that indeed they tried to get rid of the KJV Bible, made it illegal, punishable by death, for even having a single page of that Bible, Many died for even preaching a verse out of that Bible. Thousand upon thousands of KJV Bibles were burnt in an attempt to destroy the Bible. But God protected it, and preserved it despite all the efforts satan tried to get rid of it. Now lets assume. That satan after some time trying to destroy the KJV Bible realizes that God in Heaven is NOT going to allow it to happen, that no matter what he did to get rid of it. God made sure that it was still around for people to read and come to the knowledge of the Truth. So tell me, what is logical reasoning for satan's next step? if he can't get rid of it, he has to do something else in order to keep people from reading it, because it is in Truth the Word of the living God. So the best thing he can do if he can't get rid of it, is to create hundreds of other versions to cause people to not read the True living Word of God. Also the versions he would create, would have to contain many Truths in it, to make it believable, only a few things not true, or said in such a way to cause even more confusion. Isn't satan the author of confusion. God does not want people to be confused about which version to read and which ones not to read, God made one for all English Speaking people and that is the KJV. It is not His fault that satan got into some people and convinced them that the KJV Bible was in need of correcting, needed a NEW version, that the KJV was incorrect, WRONG, not right, to difficult to understand, outdated. These people led by satan created another version of the Bible.

Now all that is said in the above paragraph that I asked you to assume, I am telling you as God is my witness is the Truth, else let me die a painful, horrible, long suffering death, and not me only but all that I love and that love me, if I am lying to you. satan could not get rid of the KJV Bible, he tried. God would not let him. So satan did the next best thing, counterfit versions of the Word of God.
PLease if you want to know the Truth concerning this topic, and is what God has revealed to me, read this article
KJV vs Other Versions

Anyway I Here is the rest of the blurb, if you do not think this group is a cult, then this should help persuade you it is.
Careful to call that which is good, "evil" is blaspheme of the Holy Ghost, and is not forgiven to men. Are you saying that I am in a cult because I believe the Truth that the KJV is the actual Word of God that God has protected and preserved to be His Word? Really, I am a cultist because I believe the KJV is the actual Word of God? What does that mean for the thousands of people for over 400 years also believed that the KJV was the actual Word of God, are they all cultists as well? Seriously for over 400 years people have believed the KJV is the actual Word of God, but if you do that today you are deemed a cultist, why? because in the last days others versions are present, making the KJV obsolete, void, null, outdated. Yet for four hundred years that same version has been protected by God, preserved by God, and SAVED thousands upon thousands of people. If it can do that, I know it is the actual Word of God. Leave it to the last days generation to try to stamp out the True Word of God for a watered down version that they agree with and fits their own beliefs. For example if you believe homosexual activity is OK, I am positive you can find a version of the Bible which teaches it is OK. There are hundred of versions out there just find the version that fits what you believe and suffer the consequences. OR believe the KJV Bible and change what you believe to fit with what it teaches, and live for all eternity. the choice is yours. Choose other versions to fit your own belief, or choose the KJV and change your life to match what it says. Now I understand why it is written Many are called, but only a few are chosen.

You know how people get all upset and sometimes angry when someone talks about one bible version being better than another? It happens a lot in Bible studies because the differences in versions are painfully obvious to all.
you have made my point. Who is the author of confusion? God or satan? Tell me Truly. If there was only the KJV, would there be any confusion in the Bible Studies? But now there are hundreds of different version, Bible Studies are set up to fail by satans many other versions. This is not of God.

Everyone's got an opinion as to which Bible is best.

True, the version that fits more into what you believe is the Truth. This also is NOT of God.

And because of all the glaring differences and discrepancies in the different versions, the Lord himself is forced to pick just one of them.
He did pick just one of them, and HISTORY proves which version He has protected and preserved for over 400 years to the English speaking people of the world. How has He protected and preserved the NIV or the American Standard Version? These flourish in the last days, they are rampant upon the Earth. God picked the KJV, this generation picks a version that well suits their own thinking.

The funny thing is that hardly anyone ever considers the opinion of the Lord Jesus Christ. Don't you think he has a preference? Which one would he use?
and the proof is the version that He has protected and preserved unto this day, and still does. Even today those who know the Truth concerning the Word of God defend and protect the KJV Bible, because they KNOW it is the Word of God, and anyone who teaches that in these last days will be called cultists.

Strange, I thought narrow and difficult was the way that leads to eternal life, apparently it is easy and wide. Merely choose whatever version you want to believe in. EASY.

Once you know for sure which Bible the Lord has already chosen and why, you'll never again have any doubts about "which Bible" is God's Bible.
Whats funny to me, is that all those who believe the KJV Bible is the Word of God, have no doubts that it is. Those who look to other versions are they who have doubts that it is the Word of God.

The Truth is. the KJV Bible was made, and ordained by God, it was made in such a way to weed out people who did not truly want to know the Truth. People who read it a little bit, and say it is too difficult, It makes no since, its to hard to understand, and they never read it again, DO NOT have a True desire to learn and to know the Truth do they? Those who read it and re-read it over and over again, these are they that God will open their understanding to it, and they will see the light, and the Truth. By the time I was 12 I read the entire Bible three times. But it wasn't until the fourth time That God started opening up the Scriptures to me and teaching me many things. But the first three times a total blur. but today in this last days generation, just bypass the entire process of learning the Truth, and easily just pick a version that you like. Woe to the last day generation.

To talk of Jesus carrying around a translation of the spiritual word into a language, any language is just not understanding scripture. The first language that the Lord gave His word through was ancient Hebrew, then classical Hebrew. Latest research says that even scripture we thought was originally in Greek was said by earliest historians to have first been in Hebrew and then transcribed in to the more popular languages. God used almost exclusively Hebrew men to receive His word. So the closer we get to knowing about Hebrew and know the Hebrew original words, the better we can know scripture.

A glaring example is the word law. The original that is taken from is Torah. Torah can use the word law and get somewhat of the meaning the Lord wants us to have, but it still distorts it. Torah definition is directions that give the truth about God. It is the first 5 books of the bible.

The KJV was translated at a time when Jews were being murdered as a way obey the Lord. The translators did remarkable well at keeping their idea of what scripture should say out of the translation, but you can still find it in their translation. All translations need to be questioned by us. Christ would never use the word law when the Lord meant Torah as closer to the spiritual meaning.

Thousands did NOT come to the Lord when they read the KJV because of the version, because the translation was perfection. It was NOT the version, it was the amount of the truth of God that was in that translation. Today, there are other versions of some scriptures that have better translations of the truth of the Lord. We do not worship a version, or put one version above another. We go to what the Lord has to say, not a version of the Lord.

No one died because of a version. No one came to the Lord because the men who worked on that version were so perfect. They came to the Lord because of the Lord and truth. We are not to worship versions, we are to go to the Lord with our worship.

Problem is Disciple Dave is that when you say "The Word of God" you are only refering to the King James Bible, to me the word of God is The Bible, regardless of translation. "The Word of God" was copied prolifically from day 1.

Why do you think the King James is the perfect version of "the Word of God?" Why not the German translations, they fit the refined 7 times theory as well.

When a group of people start claiming they have God on thier side and state it as fact and uses wrath of God as threats against people who continue to ignore the so called Bible translations issue, then that is definitly the actions of a cult.
