Alot of talk lately has been on the topic of the law. I wonder if we really understand what the law says, and what it means for us. So I thought I would try to get a feel for what people believe, and think this is a good way to do it.

Which person is more sinfull in the eyes of God.

person 1. - Commited adultry on his wife after falling to temptation by a good looking young lady seducing him

Person 2. - Lied about something because he wanted to prevent someone from being hurt

person 3. - I successful in many things, and is not hesitant to puff himself up in pride and let everyone know

person 4 - Has many opportunities for ministry, but always makes excuses to get out of doing things to help people

Why is the person 2 a sinner?

If the third person is full of pride than I think this person has little chances to kneel in front of God and cry for his sins (because he is blinded by his "perfection"). A murderer knows he is bad and he can repent for his sin but a self-sufficient person has nothing to repent of, so, in my opinion this is the most dangerous sin: having pride.

because he bared false witness (he lied) there is no excuse for sin.

I am trying to look at this from God's eyes. not our eyes. Would you change you opinion from that point of view?

Imagine you lived in nazi time and you had jewish hiding in the basement of your house; the Gestapo knocks on your door and they ask you about those jewish you´re protecting. What do you answer to them?

Romans 3:23 . I would not even attempt to assume what God thinks about other people.

I know we all mess up at one time or another in our lives. I never met anyone just perfect. Christianity is about forgiveness of our sins when we turn to God and repent in Christ name.

Each of those people will have to repent about whatever if anything is getting in between them an God. God can only Judge these kinda of questions you posed. I would not even have ask them personally. Whats the point ?

But what if you lie because you are actually trying to protect yourself (As I should have stated in my example), in other words. You say you want to protect someone, but your actually protecting yourself

I see what your saying..

the point is try to find out what the law really says. According to the law (God) which of these people is more sinful?

"Evening gents, could I offer you some fine tea? Neither of you would happen to know when we will be able to ride our bycicles through Amsterdam again, would you?"

I´m glad you see what I´m saying... too bad you avoided the answer..
I believe from the moment you decide to hide jewish in your basement you are fully aware of the risks you are running. And I believe that if you lie to the Gestapo is because you want to protect them more than you want to protect yourself (what´s the point of hiding them if you betray them, right?).

I did not avoid the answer sis. I corrected myself. And showed what I meant when I said they lied to protect others. I should have been more complete. I can't change it now. But I hope you see what I meant.

How many times have we lied. and stated we did it to protect someone else. when in reality we were protecting ourself? That was my point.

I don´t know what you really ment but this reminds me of Ann Frank's diary because she and her family were actually hiding from the nazis in Amsterdam.

Well, in this case telling lies is very dangerous because it becomes a habit, something like a second nature and it prevents us from seeing who we really are. We think we lie to the others, but in reality we are really lying to ourselves and we can´t approach God if we are not honest with ourselves.

True, But back to the question. Which is more sinful in Gods eyes.

The adulterer
the lier
the proud

I'm shocked more people aren't voting for "all are equally sinful in God's eyes."

For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it.

There are two types... those whose sins have been forgiven, and those whose haven't. Who cares which one is the 'bigger sinner'?

All sin is the same in God's eyes, no matter if you tell a little white lie to murdering someone, its all the same

My friend, I already answered. I believe an adulterer that knows he´s an adulterer has much more coherence than a proud christian who is already seeing himself in heaven and points out other men´s sins and thanks God that he is not like them.

Pride is the most dangerous sin because it makes you blind. How can a pride person repent if he is sure that what he does is good?

I agree that pride is the most dangerous sin. However, most dangerous =/= more sinful in God's eyes.

The question is what's more sinful in God's eyes, not which sin is the most dangerous or difficult to repent of.

My friend, Keep thinking for a minute. I believe Your looking at it from mans eyes. Not Gods. Remember, the mere act of eating a fruit caused the spiritual death of all mankind.

I am waiting to get more responses (especially from the people who are always preaching law) before i really get down to discussion.
