Jesus ask this question about himself to his disciples around 2000 years ago. His disciples replied with answers based on things they knew or had experienced. Some say John the Baptist, others say Elijah and still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.

People in Jesus days had expectations about who he was and arrived at their conclusions based on those expectations. Today it is not very different. People gather ideas about Jesus for many places. From TV and movies from books and newspapers, from family, schools and office conversations. Some of these ideas a right on the mark and others miss the mark entirely.

Some people say Jesus was a popular preacher or guru of ethical living. Others say it is not even important to know who Jesus is. But for people who have given their lives to Jesus and have experience life in a new and wonderful way the question about Jesus' identity is of greater than life important.

After asking his disciples what other people say about him Jesus turn to them in ask, What about you? Who do you say I am? Peter answered, You are the Christ the Son of the living God!

What does it mean that Jesus is "the Christ" and "the Son"? It means that he is much more than a popular preacher, a popular prophet or a wise teachers.

Who do you say that Jesus is?

Jesus to me is our Lord, our king, our Savior, our Hope, our Big Brother, and much much more. I could go on all day about who Jesus is to me, Jesus is my everything.

He was and is fully man and fully God.

He is the judge and the sacrificial lamb.

He thus is the only way to God.

Oh, and since God is love, that must mean He is too.

I often wonder if the burden refured to to carry with Him, is the knowladge of those who reject Him and the sorrow of this.
So many today claim to believe in God, yet they reject Jesus, calling Him like you said biggie, a good man, just a prophet, well lots of things other than who He is, Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh!
I know some who deny Jesus, saying he is anything other than who He is, yet they claim to believe in God, saddly one is my sister, another a friend.
I wonder how such a deception can hold them, for they know the truth, both were raised in the christianfaith with good teachings.
I do believe that this is the falling away, for they are blinded.
I cannot help but look to how Isreal was blinded as well, their minds clouded, denying Jesus Christ is Lord come in the flesh.
As I said before, this is a great sorrow, seeing so many say they believe, yet they reject and deny the very gift and sacrifice given to us by God's love.
I guess it must be that many, fall to who they want God to be, rather than in humility, recieve the love and joy of His glorious gift.

What breaks my heart are those who really know Jesus, and say they know the Father, too, but concentrate so on Jesus as he was in the flesh and at the resurrection that they will not read living scripture about the Father. Jesus is God, it is through Him that we live. Knowing Jesus is crucial. But we cannot truly know Him until we are intimately acquainted with the Father who sent Him and created us. That requires knowing the OT as well as we know the New.

To know the real One True God as God truly is, is to know Him in His completeness. That is true life, joy, salvation, and all the fruits of the spirit. If one part is missing, no part is real.

I agree. God Our Father is trully wonderous.
I often question if I am speaking to God Our Father more than to Jesus, for as our Father He does draw us to Him, and in knowing Him, brings healing to those of us who had no father.
But then I consider what Jesus said, if you speak to me you speak to my Father, and if you speak to my Father, you speak to me. :)
Seems with God favor is made perfect and one!
