1. Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this cause the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.

2. Beloved, now are we children of God, and it is not yet made manifest what we shall be. We know that, if he shall be manifested, we shall be like him; for we shall see him even as he is.

3. And every one that hath this hope set on him purifieth himself, even as he is pure.

4. Every one that doeth sin doeth also lawlessness; and sin is lawlessness.

5. And ye know that he was manifested to take away sins; and in him is no sin.

6. Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither knoweth him. (1 John 3:1-6)

He pulls quotes out of context to try and support his sinless perfectionism nonsense.
I am sorry that you feel that way.

We can not continue in sin, if we wish to survive.

I see nothing out of context here. Those who have the aforementioned hope are supposed to be purifying themselves as John said or perfecting holiness in the fear of God by cleansing themselves of all filthiness of the flesh and spirit as Paul said. Seeing how we need to purify and cleanse ourselves via the provisions which God has graciously made available to us in/through Christ, we're obviously not perfectly sinless yet, but we do have the necessary provisions in/through Christ by which we can overcome all sin and we should always be headed in that direction.

Do you still sin?

If you bothered to read my post before responding, then you wouldn't have asked this question.

Let me rephrase yours: Do you believe you'll get to the point where you'll never commit another sin in your mortal life?

I believe that we can...if we truly live according to the example that Christ set before us. Jesus only did what He saw His Father doing and He only spoke what He heard His Father speaking because His Own will was totally subjected unto the Father's will and because He spent a lot of time in prayer. If we follow suit, then the Father is never going to lead us to sin. We sin when our wills aren't truly subjected unto the Father's will. Jesus is the Vine and we're supposed to be the branches. Is the Vine leading us to sin?

Really? Name someone you know who has ever reached that point.

Jesus Christ.

I've already explained my position and it is a Biblical one. If you don't believe that God has made provision for us by which we can and should stop sinning, then, as far as I'm concerned, you're claiming that Christ's atonement was a failure. IOW, you're basically saying that the sin of the first Adam and what it brought into this world is greater than the atonement of the last Adam, Jesus Christ.

You know what I meant. So stop being ridiculous.

You people are all the same. You love to preach about being/becoming sinless, and yet you still sin, Mikko still sins, and everyone you know still sins. Yet your hypocrisy doesn't stop you from harping on about living a sinless life.

Clean up your own backyard first.

Oh wait, you can't.

Ironically, it's actually people like you who are all alike. You can't stop sinning either because of your ignorance or because you simply like your sins and then you rail on those who follow the Biblical admonitions to purify and cleanse themselves as you deny the provisions of Christ's atonement.

Said the one who still sins as well.

Christ's atonement paid the penalty for all sin. What is left to pay for? Why do you insist one must strive to be sinless when the sin issue was dealt with at the cross? A believer in Christ is secure in his salvation because Jesus paid the penalty for every single sin. We are already, sinless.

So stop the "work, work, work, strive, strive, strive" garbage.

We have been declared sinless through the sacrifice of Christ. His blood paid for every single sin.

There is no condemnation left for us. No one can lay any charge against us.

Our righteousness is the righteousness of Christ.

That's Bible.

Read it.

Unlike you, apparently, I've read the entire Bible and I don't cherry pick certain parts. Anyhow, our conversation is over. I've dealt with people like you for 20 something years already and I know the futility of even trying to reason with your type.
