I agree...there seems to be quite a few that think they are above sin......Yes we can keep from committing horrific sins and suppress our sin nature dia the power of Christ to some extent, but NO ONE on this planet is sinless and above sin....John who was faithful to the extreme unto the Lord, Wortes almost 25 percent of the N.T. stated clearly that if we say we HAVE NO SIN (present tense) then we are decieved and the truth is not in US.....Isaiah said our righteousnesses are as a filty rag and our INIQUITIES like the ind have taken us away.....the most righteous thing we can do is marred by our sin nature and our own sin......Yes i can keep from stealing, lying, killing etc....but to say I do not sin or havent sinned in the last year, month etc. belies the truth and is contrary to the truth.....The problem is simple.....MY body is dead because of SIN and MY SPIRIT that has been born of GOD DOES NOT SIN.....The spirit is indeed willing, but the flesh is WEAK!
Yep. The body is Dead because if sin but your spirit is alive because of Righteousness . imputed to you because of your belief in His Sons competed work at the tree...indeed. ' but by My Spirit saith the LORD !

Romans 8:35-39

35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36As it is written,“For your sake we are being killed all the day long;
we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”
37No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It's mind boggling to see that those who "do not sin" just don't get it -- never learning a single thing from all that is shared in love and Spirit, and all of it supported by Scripture.

When Jesus says "Be perfect as our Heavenly Father is perfect" He's talking about being merciful.

But noooooooo, the non-sinners will have none of it. They are perfect! Perfectly frustrating.

They are blinded or refuse to face Truth.

1 John 1:8 is in context to those who believe they are not capable of sinning whereby they don't feel it is required of them to confess of it. This describes the OSAS proponent and not the Biblical Conditionalist who believes sin is very real and needs to be confessed and forsaken with the Lord's help.

In other words, there is a difference in saying one has ceased from sin and in one saying they have no sin whereby they need to confess of it. 1 Peter 4 talks about how believers cease from sin.
