I participate to celebrate Christmas just to remind everybody that at one time Jesus Christ came into this world for the salvation of mankind.Forget the exact date, forget the pagan traditions, forget the time in season, forget the gift-giving. I consider this season is a time to bring Jesus Christ to the mind of all men in this world. I consider this an opportunity for Christian evangelism. What do you think will happen if Christmas celebration will be ban on earth? So get more lights, more Christmas trees, more Christmas decor and play more Christmas songs with the love of God!

I would like to live my life as a human created and belonging to God, I’d like to follow His plan for me all I can. I have scripture to guide me, I have the Holy Spirit within me, and when I fall I have Christ as my Savior so I am forgiven to start all over again.

That said, I look to scripture for Christmas. I find lots of scripture about celebrations and feasts, even, but nothing at all about celebrating the birth of Christ. There is something about celebrating His resurrection, even that He was in the tomb without decay or sin. They call it first fruits. But nothing about celebrating His birth.

I went to the Lord in prayer over this. I am so thankful for Christ I want to celebrate His birth. For me, the answer is that it is fine to celebrate His birth, but it would be better to first obey the celebrations scripture gave us. Many things are more important, for instance to give loving care to our brothers and sisters in Christ, or accept Christ as our Savior. God says He accepts us without the feasts and celebrations, but if we are going to celebrate it is better to follow scripture about them than to follow men’s celebrations.

God gave an illustration of this in scripture. He showed how people decided to use golden calves to represent God when they worshipped. It made such good sense, it was to worship God. Every other God had an image to look at, their God was just as good as every other one!

God does not want us to bring men’s ideas into the church, even if they make perfect sense to us. Even though men argued that the golden calves represented God, our God wanted his family to have no part in it. God’s family is to only follow Him. I think God feels that way about how we have decided to celebrate Him all these years.

btw - an old glittery Christmas card was all i had as a kid....my family are unbelievers...i kept it in my secret place and wondered about that Jesus
who knew the gospel began for me with that card?

And a very Happy Christmas to you, too. :)
If you find yourself near us, please know there's a chair by the fire for you,
and a book of Christmas hymns to share with you,
and some freshly baked goodies with your name on them,
and some nice hot coffee! :)

btw---my first thought was of a lonely little girl with no one to share the glory of the day with her.
But right away came praise for that glittery card, and the certain knowledge that Someone was with you...♥

Look friend, everything I stated was true. If you want to qualify and develop it further, that's fine. But you don't have to be a nimrod about it.

As of 2012, there is a difference of 13 days between the modern Gregorian calendar and the older Julian calendar. Those who continue to use the Julian calendar or its equivalents thus celebrate December 25 and January 6 on what for the majority of the world is now January 7 and January 19 (due to date creep associated with the difference between the Gregorian and Julian calendars).

For this reason, Ethiopia, Russia, Ukraine, Serbia, the Republic of Macedonia, and the Republic of Moldova celebrate Christmas on what in the Gregorian calendar is January 7; all the Greek Orthodox Churches celebrate Christmas on December 25.

Now, the Gregorian calendar was introduced by Pope Gregory XIII on 24 February 1582 by Papal Bull. So before that the Julian calendar was used.

All Christian churches celebrated Christ's birth on January 6 until the fourth century. According to historical sources (including the Roman Catholic Church), the date was changed from January 6 to December 25 in order to override a pagan feast dedicated to the birth of the Sun (exactly as I stated) which was celebrated on December 25. Roman Christians were seeking to udermine and subdue this pagan practice and they were successful in that endeavor.

Happy?

I dont know why u ask me am i happy?I am happy thank God.

This is the beauty of Christmas. It is a time when the doors swing wide open for unbelievers to hear the story of when God became man. I was raised in an atheist family and my best friends were Jewish but somehow the Tennessee Ernie Ford 'Christmas Special' snuck past the anti-gods radar and onto our black and white tv screen giving me a first taste of something a tad more special than Santa Claus, Jingle Bells and Dreaming of a White Christmas. Well while I'm at it, Happy Hannukah to our dear Jewish readers.

I love the way you state that...'snuck past the anti-gods radar'. :)
Who will stand in the way of the Lord showing Himself to anyone?
Who will interfere with God saving the one He loves?

No one. ♥
Merry Christmas! :)

A muslim friend of mine asked me, "Why do Christians celebrate Christmas, as the birth date of Jesus is unknown". Can anyone help me on how to answer this?
I'd rather celebrate the birth of Jesus on a wrong day, than on no day.

The Bible is very clear on this subject. We are to celebrate the birth of JESUS CHRIST every day. This cross is daily, not once a week, nor once a year. The Bible also speaks on the customs of the heathen in Jeremiah 10, and the WORD says that they are foolish. The world celebrates their selves 364 days a year, then takes off a day to celebrate je$u$. That date is all about self and it oppresses the poor each year, and there are also a record number of suicides because of it. Why not do as HIS WORD commands us, and just worship HIM every day? This is what this daily cross is all about. We are currently in a Babylonian system based on “let us make us a name” or “let us make us a je$u$”. People are being brainwashed by the mass media’s mind control, which only wants their money. That’s what this date is all about; people need to snap out of this now.

Don’t lie to these children, who simply want the TRUTH. Don’t tell them that Satan Clause comes bringing gifts once a year. GOD is the one and ONLY who knows when you’ve been naughty and nice, and HIS TRUTH is every day! Having them bow down to a tree and false idolatry is absolutely wrong! That’s fire and tree worship, that’s the tree in the garden! This is Baal worship, so stop being cannibaals by offering your children in the fire! Do some studying on these pagan days; the Bible clearly speaks against it. People think that it’s all fun and a game to tell lies to these children, GOD doesn’t think it’s funny! X-mass is the worship of sin, as well as Ishtar and Halloween! This cross is daily, JESUS CHRIST’ birth is to be celebrated every day! There needs to be less of “me” and more of HIM, the outer dying and the WORD of CHRIST growing within. Self has always been the problem, and people today are so full of themselves! I pray you research this, for the sake of your family.

I agree! Many of the folks who celebrate Christmas have no idea what the day is really about. :(
That's so sad, for them, isn't it?

We have a tree, and have never had our children bow down to it. :)

We never told them Santa is real, but did tell them who St. Nicholas was, and how the myth began.
But I wouldn't judge believers who do...I've seen to much fruit from their lives, and I remember too well how much I knew about parenting before I had kids. If that's their choice, it's their choice. They don't answer to me. They're not my servants. ;)

If the Lord's people take a day to set aside to honor Him, and rejoice that He came, I can't see how God would take that badly...but you're right, any day can me Happy Birthday Jesus day, and every day can be, too. The cross IS every day! :)

Well I REALLY like this site: And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions?

They lay things out pretty clear. I will say what the page will explain. (People are not going to agree with me that is fine but I will be quoting the bible for this argument)

Xmas has ZERO to do with Jesus Christ. We should not call it "Christmas" as it is an abomination to the Lord. This holliday is nothing but a pagan celebration that has been condemned by the Lord himself.

Now how can I make such a radical claim? This is practiced in many churches and is associated with the birth of Jesus.

Well the link explains this in detail and I will just say this:

"Hear ye the word which the Lord speaketh unto you, O house of Israel: Thus saith the Lord, Learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not. They are upright as the palm tree, but speak not: they must needs be borne, because they cannot go. Be not afraid of them; for they cannot do evil, neither also is it in them to do good. Forasmuch as there is none like unto thee, O Lord; thou art great, and thy name is great in might." -JEREMIAH 10:1-6

That is from the Lord himself and it sounds a lot like don't do it.
But again I recommend reading the whole page before you offer a rebuttal. I think their argument is clear, concise and does not contradict scripture.

I celebrate the Christmas season (not in the specific date only) because this is the opportunity to tell unbelievers indirectly about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ for the salvation of mankind. You can ask anyone about this season and they will mention love, giving, celebrating, greeting someone, joyful time, time for rest, and Jesus Christ. Surely nobody will mention any pagan name or name of any other so called god.

Christians celebrate Christmas because it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. Some people celebrate because everyone else is doing it and view it as the season for intimate gatherings and gift giving even without religious conviction. Others celebrate Christmas because it is a family tradition.
You can find beautiful Christmas wishes and greetings here: Happy Christmas Wishes

Christians celebrate Christmas because it commemorates the birth of Jesus Christ. (...)
May I learn WHERE is it written on the New testament? (I already know, but back it up for them)

Thanks!
