if you are merely the sum of your memories and there is no afterlife and you simply cease to be then what is the point to living your life? When you die it might as well be as though you never lived right? so why even bother with dealing with it.

yes really this life has more pain in it than anything pleasurable so why bother with it if they really believe that?

Pain or pleasure I don't care, life is pointless without God.

1 The words of the Preacher,[a] the son of David, king in Jerusalem.

2 Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher,
vanity of vanities! All is vanity.
3 What does man gain by all the toil
at which he toils under the sun?
4 A generation goes, and a generation comes,
but the earth remains forever.
5 The sun rises, and the sun goes down,
and hastens[c] to the place where it rises.
6 The wind blows to the south
and goes around to the north;
around and around goes the wind,
and on its circuits the wind returns.
7 All streams run to the sea,
but the sea is not full;
to the place where the streams flow,
there they flow again.
8 All things are full of weariness;
a man cannot utter it;
the eye is not satisfied with seeing,
nor the ear filled with hearing.
9 What has been is what will be,
and what has been done is what will be done,
and there is nothing new under the sun.
10 Is there a thing of which it is said,
“See, this is new”?
It has been already
in the ages before us.
11 There is no remembrance of former things,[d]
nor will there be any remembrance
of later things[e] yet to be
among those who come after

Build your earthly little kingdom, but it will all come to naught.

I believe there are no such thing as atheists. Whether an atheist would be willing to admit it or not -it is true. Because you hear it all the time, you hear of how much they believe in themself and have confidence in themself. If you are a true athiest, you don't beleive in anything. None exsist because we all believe in something. God designed us to want to beleive in something bigger than ourselves. Some people realize tha tthat natural desire is within them because God made the atheist to worship Him. Unfortunatly though, some never realize this and get into humanism or meddle in astrology, or fortune telling... (nothing serious) just meddling, dipping there feet in so to speak...but this is because they really are searching! And do believe in a Higher Power, they just don't know what. There are no such things as athiests. But there are such things as agnostics -because even the "atheist" believes in something whatever "that" is.

I would say there are no genuine atheists, on the basis of Romans 1..

18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world,[g] in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

I think for many, they are chasing the lust of the flesh.

Ephesians 4:22
You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

We are all born for a purpose, not to just exist, but we have to seek God for that purpose

Why don't all Christians have someone kill them right now so they can go to heaven? It's supposed to be a lot better than here, right?

I would be happy to die.

Philippians 1:23
I am torn between the two: I desire to depart and be with Christ, which is better by far; 24 But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.

If God gave me the opportunity I'd jump for it but he hasn't.

We abide until we are called home.

We do not decide when our journey is over.

Like prisoners who are told they are going home soon but wait patiently.

18I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us. 19The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21thati the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.

22We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time. 23Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? 25But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.

26In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. 27And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s wil

its not about happiness it's about pointlessness
Watch the video first before you remark please. As long as you are happy then there is a point to life.

Why don't you ask why people of other faiths choose to live? According to your beliefs where do they end
up going after they die? What's the point in that?
