i don't know the answer to the question. i do know i hunger for the Word, and feel an emptiness waiting to be filled if i don't, as for thinking i will go to hell if i don't read it every day, i don't think that.

Most believe that reading the bible is having a realationship with God... It just tell you about God. I rather chat with Him then read the bible all the time

People that are not well schooled in Scripture are EASILY lied to by the ministers of satan, they will latch on to false teachings and fight those who speak Scriptural truth.

Also without readin Scripture one has no standard by which to test the spirits....so when that spirit comes along and say its ok to do this or not do that, a Scriptually schooled p[erson knows that is a false spirit. The ignorant dives right in the pit.

I don't know anyone who thinks that way? People who read the bible daily do so for strength and encouragement. It probably helps them to prioritize what's important in life. Imagine a world where everyone had to read a chapter a day. In a crazy world where every twit is tweeting nonsense, I suspect that God appreciates people who find comfort in His word.

I find a lot of comfort in the Word. I read my bible because I enjoy reading it and because I am trying to learn as much as I can so I can stay on the right path. I know that satan will try to lead me astray and I do not want to be tempted. Reading scripture and prayer helps me feel closer to God.

Reading the Bible is part of having a relationship with God. You need to do both. Read and chat with Him.

Jesus said ... You shall know the truth and the Truth shall make you free..... And Jesus says in john 17... Santify them in Your turth, Your Word is Truth.... And the Word is Truth, so I guess the hunger for Truth is what keeps me in the Word of God.

I have to say, since I spend all this time in the Word, I am a LOT more free than when I knew NOTHING about the Truth.

How well do you know the Truth and how FREE are you? Or are you free without the truth and make Jesus a lier?

Let me ask a BIBLICAL question...... Jesus says go and BAPTIZE IN THE NAME... Please note ONE NAME.... of the Father (YHVH) and the Son (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit (?????).... What is the NAME of all three? What is the Name of the Holy Spirit.

Who can tell me what is the Name of the Holy Spirit, and what is the ONE NAME of the Father Son and Spirit? In there lies MANY answers.... Please use Scripture as backing for your answer or just admit you might not know the answer. Or just keep silent and do not answer.

Teacher TINTIN please give me your answer. PLEASE what is THE NAME we should baptize in?

We read the bible out of a love for His Word not a fear of punishment if we don't.
Those who think they'll go to hell if they don't read it 24/7 need to chill, take a breath and look for the Lamb of God who took away their sin.

Well, the bible tells us in John 17:17 that we're sanctified or set apart by His truth and it goes on to say that His word is truth.

So without the word there's nothing to set you apart from the world or apostate church.

The bible also let's us know that our memory has been greatly shortened since the days of Moses.
Remember Moses wrote 5 books of the old testament on nothing but memory.

Reading the bible does not get you into Heaven or Hell but learning how to abide in it does promise that we will one day meet face to face with God in heavenly peace.

And no one is in heaven or hell now. That's unbiblical and arouse from the dark age teachings.

Well there are special cases where we know Enoch, Moses, and Elijah are alive today and are in Heaven.
Along with the people who woke up when the graves were opened when Christ was crucified.

But there's no record of anyone in hell because hell is a result of God raining fire & brimstone down on the last day which creates a lake of fire.

However you can only know all of this if you read the bible.

God bless

what does the name have to do with? why does this keep coming up?
The Bible says in many places to baptize in the name of Jesus Christ.

Baptism is in the name of Jesus Christ because it is by his authority,
by the provision of the Father
and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Does it really matter if you say "in the name of Jesus Christ" or "in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit"?
no. The same power is at work.

Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a whole separate issue.
Water baptism= a symbol.
Spirit baptism= the Spirit of Christ within us, given at salvation.

Don't forsake the reading of the Bible. It is the Word of God. I am not sure I've ever met a person who read too much Bible, and didn't have enough prayer. But I have met far too many "Christians" who say they believe, but don't trust anything that God has said in His Word, and have no desire to learn any more about God through His Word.

A fool thinks himself spiritual enough to know God by himself. A wise man uses what God has already shared with humanity.

A good prayer life doesn't supplement for Bible reading. Do both.

Cobus, we should baptize new believers into the family using the name of our Triune God - "In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit."

Baptism has both a spiritual and physical component, just as has Christ Jesus.

Spiritual - the Word of God
Physical - the water

Both are important.

OBVIOUSLY,

and I mean
\\OBVIOUSLY

you have not read your Bible....
get a Bible
free
theword.net
download it
read it through,
as you hover your mouse over the words
the reall meanings come up

and you should start at Genesis and read through to Revelation..
revelation is all about a few people who follow their whole Bible despite the mark of the Beast that is put into effect to kill them, and how God fights armageddone and kills all those who didnt follow the Bible

the end.

each verse is awesome and comparing verses enlightens you

like this

Bless the Lord Oh my soul, and all that is within me bless his holy name

and you hover over bless and it says BARAK

and then you say
what is barak
so you search for barak and find this

Psa 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.

so BLESS means to KNEEL in worshiping God (by bowing down!)

wow!

so now you see
whenever you see the word bless, you can say KNEEL IN WORSHIP!

Gen 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
becomes
Gen 1:22 And God said as they knelt and worshipped him,Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.

and this verse:
Gen 2:3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.
becomes

Gen 2:3 And God made the seventh day to kneel down and worship God, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

and when you start doing that in is better than sudoku.
it is life eternal to get things right.
actually God calls it righteousness

Psa 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness.

And all false doctrines are crushed.

When you meet a church who always have one Bible verse and throw all the rest of the Bible out, then take that verse and hover over it and see the meanings of each word.
It NEVER means what they thought it meant

if a verse is truth there will be many verses like it.

if there is only one verse one a topic then it is taken out of contest, just hover over the word and see the reall meaning and then you can move on to the next church.

There are THOUSANDS of churches with different doctirnes,
and there is only one true doctrine
that means you will be moving a lot.

Exegesis/expository sermons are still a great way to preach the Word of God clearly and truthfully.
Sometimes topical study ends up miscuing the meaning, by taking a bunch of verses out of context, to suit the desire of the preacher.

Both methods have flaws.
The Holy Spirit must be present when presenting the Scripture, or regardless of the method used, it will be man's words, not God's.

Three people responded and they all have three DIFFERENT ANSWERS.... See that is why I ask you to PROVE with the Word of God what the ONE NAME OF FATHER, AND OF SON and OF HOLY SPIRIT is.... We should baptize in..... WHAT IS THE NAME OF ALL THREE?

I will show you but I CHALLENGE you wise teachers to SHOW THE REST OF THE READERS how GOD-ENLIGHTENED you are....

God says BAPTUZE IN THE NAME OF THE FATHER. AND The SON, AND The Holy Spirit... WHAT IS THE NAME? If you do not know ASK! It is written in the Bible.... We should Baptize in THE NAME OF ALL THREE... ONE NAME... I will baptize you in a few moments from now.... Me Cobus will SHOW you what the Name is we should Baptize in.... It is NOT YHVH, it is NOT JESUS CHRIST, It is NOT GOD.... it is in ALL THREE and they have a NAME... And the name is: ...... .......... .... ........ Show me where the Bible says what this ONE NAME IS!!!! If you cannot, then why do you respond to something yuo have only human understanding about.... There is only ONE BAPTISm.. Eph 4. Read it.... Maybe you get a hint on what the Baptism does to ALL God's children....

Come on wise ones yuo always has so much to say, now SHOW THE SCRIPTURE of the ONE NAME...... What is the NAME of the FATHER, and THE SON, and THE HOLY SPIRIT.... USE SCRIPTURE....... SHOW WITH SCRIPTURE.... SHOW THE VERSE...

If you are so blessed with knowledge, show us the verse, so we can learn... or do you hold your sacred knowledge too closely to let any others be edified?

Do not be selfish with the truth. If you have truth, share it openly!

You seem to be trying to make fun of everyone, and it comes across harshly, not gentle like the Spirit of Christ.

Come now, Cobus. I asked the same question as you, and yet I receive no response from you.

-We answered you, that the one baptism is in Spirit and that water baptism is just a symbol, as an outward expression of following after Christ as He was baptized.
-We gave you the verses that speak of water baptism, which 4 of them say to baptize "in the name of Jesus Christ", and one time it says in the "name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit",
and you say that those verses are somehow wrong?

Do you have the name, or are you just causing trouble?
You are one who goes around, sowing seeds of dissension among the brethren, having no compassion on the weak, and no respect for the strong. Your heart is full of pride, and your desire is to step on others. You say you have found what few others have, when you have nothing. You make trouble for yourself, then blame the Lord for your trouble; that it is for Him that you are hated... no, you are facing resistance for your foolishness, not for the sake of the Lord.
