2Tim 4:2,3a
2 Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine.
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine;

3 Reasons (why many will not endure sound doctrine)

1 - They don't have doctrine in their soul because they have been told they don't need it because they have the Spirit and the gifts.

2 - What doctrine they do have they do not continue in it nor do no mix faith with it to profit them in their walk with God.

3 - They are being swerved and twisted out and away from their faith through the cares of this life and their heart is departing from the living God.

It is impossible to get to know what is on the mind and heart of Jesus Christ and what He thinks about us and how we are to live without having sound doctrine that comes from Him. What kind of stability in life would a child have without the instructions of their mother and father? Do we as parents give our children good sound doctrine to live by or do we let them find out for themselves with no instruction or good counsel. Where do you think they would end up without sound instruction and good counsel?

It is surprising how many believers have a distaste for sound doctrine and they never study the scriptures. They will read the scriptures but they never study them to really learn what God thinks in the details of life. They never become spiritually minded in the things of God and never get involved in the work of God that we have been ordained to participate in. Many believers remain carnal and consider themselves spiritual based upon the gifts and not upon the doctrine of Christ.

If believers want to know what Jesus Christ thought about doctrine and what He taught concerning it, all they would have to do is do a word study on doctrine. There is some (50) references in the scriptures and most of them are in the NT. Find out what other words relate to doctrine such as instruction, faith, counsel etc. Get the definition in both the OT and the NT and study the word in the context that you find it in scripture. See how it was used, who it was spoken to and how it was applied. Determine if it has a present application and use for us today and then obey the instructions that are given to you in the scriptures about the importance of doctrine.

Doctrine is not a bad word and because we find it in the scriptures we should learn all we can about it. God gives us good doctrine because He loves us and wants us to know what is in His mind and heart at all times. As we study this, the Holy Spirit will help give us understanding into the truth about doctrine and the mind of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Phil 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus

Jn 7:16,17
16 Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.
17 If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself.

Men love darkness more than the light and you should quote the rest of the verses that go with you op....like the men of Isaiah's time...do not speak unto us right things, but rather speak unto us smooth things...they dont want to hear thr healthy teaching, but rather they will heap to themselves teachers that have itching ears which will preach what the people want to hear instead of what they need to hear!

Sound doctrine as Jesus said...mrk 16v16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

all of them..upon recieving the Holy Ghost (must)

not sound doctrine..just Faith I am saved !!? or just Grace or if I confess with my mouth the Lord Jesus..or God so loved the world...not just a personal acceptance nor moral adjustment etc

its all not just bits..acts 2v38 Repent(babys cant),be baptized, (full immersion, your part) ,RECEIVE THE HOLY GHOST (Gods part ,without which you still natural man, non of his)
many more............

I'm not sure I quite understand this
Please help me
I'm really going through something right now
I keep hearing that when you're Saved that's it, no going back or loosing it no matter what
But I keep hearing about other stuff like this and it scares the heck out of me
I'm terrified that I'll end up loving something or someone more than I should and put them too high and won't know how to bring them back down below God. I know that probably doesn't have to do with this, but I thought I'd add that in case one of you could help me

God did not give us a spirit of fear but of power, love and a sound mind. Fear is torment, the Lord Jesus says rest in Him and don't worry about anything. He is completing the work He started in you. Learn to rest in His love, dear young lady. Don't listen to people who try to make you afraid of God. The Lord said run boldly to Him. Nothing is going to separate you from His love. :)

Traditions, traditions, traditions. They are a real kick in the caboose. Show a Christian the word of God denouncing a sacred cow of the 'church' and you'd best know how to duck....in a hurry!
It's a dirty and dangerous job but somebody's got to do it! At least I still have my head!

Nah, not true TheBlackDove. But it certainly feels that way at first. I've been through it, most everyone on this site has been through it. It's like an initiation at school. The new kid trying to fit it. There's always the awkward stuff and the hurt feelings and the misunderstanding... because you don't really know the people yet. Does that make sense?

Just remember, you have to get to know people and they have to get to know you. There are a lot of new people that join here just to argue and cause trouble. They get banned and come back with a new name to continue their trouble-making. Everyone in here is skeptical when a new person comes in who is immediately ready to state their opinion. We all wait it out and test one another to see if we're genuinely interested in fellowship... or just here to kick up dust and disturb the fellowship.

Some new people get jealous because they witness all the closeness of members and don't know how to become "one of the gang", ya know? They don't realize it takes time to become friends. And I always tell people, the best way to make friends is to BE one. And that of course, takes a little time. Just like it did in school.

So don't get discouraged. Take a deep breath.... and realize you're no different than the rest of us. You're part of the family of God here. If I told you how many times I've gotten my feelings hurt or was offended... or have hurt or offended others... well, I actually lost count of how many times. LOLOL!!

Anyhow, please hurry up and get past the "I'm an outcast" stage and jump in with the rest of us at CC. Seriously, I don't want you to feel left out. I pray in Jesus' name you have a blessed and joyful day! :D

For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; 2 Timothy 4:3

We are here right now and it's gettin worse.

Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 2 Thessalonians 2:3

Down we go. If we are falling, then we used to be attached to something that was higher than ourselves. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand what's really happening to the church.

Son of man, thou dwellest in the midst of a rebellious house, which have eyes to see, and see not; they have ears to hear, and hear not: for they are a rebellious house. Ezekiel 12:2

Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! Amos 6:1

Sound doctrine says that practicing homosexuality is a sin, while justifying it as natural love is unsound doctrine. Its not that people can't endure sound doctrine, its that they won't. Many prefer to interpret and misconstrue the scriptures to suit themselves and justify whatever they 'feel' is right. If it feels good, accept it. If it restricts what I can do, ignore it. Its why Jesus had a problem with 5 of the 7 churches in Revelation, people tend to modify things to their liking.

Hey friend...if you have trusted into the saving faith of Christ no need to worry..contrary to those who think you can lose salvation the bible teaches eternal security....Jesus will never leave thee nor forsake thee...you are sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise which is the down payment of your eternal inheritance....you are in the Father's hand and in the Son's hand...Jesus said he would lose nothing that had been given unto him and the bible states emphatically..Whatsoever God does it is ETERNAL....this includes the salvation, justification, sealing and sanctification (positionally) in Christ....not to mention the verb tenses which also show a present continuing result from a past completed action...do not be decieved by those who are ignorant and those who teach erronously that you can lose it....Jesus saves to the uttermost period!
