Why would any Christians want to say, "Let me play devil's advocate?" Then proceed to do such. First off, Jesus knew their thoughts and replied, “Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A town or family splintered by feuding will fall apart. And if Satan is casting out Satan, he is divided and fighting against himself. His own kingdom will not survive. And if I am empowered by Satan, what about your own exorcists? They cast out demons, too, so they will condemn you for what you have said. But if I am casting out demons by the Spirit of God, then the Kingdom of God has arrived among you. (Matthew 12:25-28). So my thought are, why would any Christian want to say this?

Once a cliche has had some time in a culture,
it looses its deeper meaning. In other words
the person most likely is just bringing up a contrary
or contrasting thought to then look at the whole matter
a bit more objectively, i dont think the term is used or
taken as an admission of working for satan.

Not trying to say that a person might be working for satan. But it don't seem to be an "encouraging" term to be used. In fact, it might bring someone into having some kind of doubt, if they don't have a clear understanding. And isn't that what satan tries to do? But just as some might use biblical cliches, and not know the meaning or context of what they're saying. Many have adapted to many things of culture. And we see what the bible has to say about that.

Its simple, Satan is bad, as I would say most people here would agree. And when you say you are playing the devils advocate, you are giving a possible reply or opinion or what have you that would be unpopular but could still possibly be brought up. If people actually were for the opinions they say, they wouldnt say that they were the devils advocate.
