Ya fruit from being regenerated is not a life long process.. but a matter of whether the person's spirit has been regenerated by the Holy Spirit.. this can be very hard to discern.. it's a matter of the heart.. not whether someone looks like they are a christian.

.....i'm as saved today as i was 18 years ago when i first believed and slowly my life began to change. Back when i'd sin & feel so guilty i couldnt pray for days... I was too ashamed, I was saved on those days. I'll cling to my saviour and try my best to please God & fail & repent and do it all over again cause i'm human & if i could do it on my own there would be no reason for a saviour. We are saved... we are saved we are saved... praise God for Jesus who makes us white as snow! and if i die in the split second between a bad thought and repentance... well i'll be just fine.....
Amen imoss....really nice post

So let me make sure I understand you correctly. You are stating that the very words of Christ Himself are vague, and shallow? WOW!!!!

You are right about this last statement. What someone looks like makes no difference at all, it is a matter of their heart, and if someone has a heart sold out to God, they would not be living in chronic, unrepentant sin.

The best witness is our own lives....in other words when people see how we live and deal with situations they will observe something different and that will provoke them to approach you thereby opening the door of opportunity

To give some clarification as to the kind of things that you consider to be good fruit, I will repost and perhaps others can comment on the kind of fruit that Jesus was referring to in (Mt 7:20). There is good fruit and we should know what that it and their is evil fruit and we should also know what that is as well.

quote: How do you know that you are in and doing the will of God at this present time? What is the fruit that would demonstrate that you are in the will of God? Is the fruit, you pointing out the sins and shortcomings of others? Is it the fruit, you judging who is saved and who is not? Is the fruit, those that live holy and those who do not? I thought that love was the fruit of the Spirit, that believes all things and hopes all things and endures all things and doesn't think evil of any man. I thought that joy was the fruit of love, that peace, longsuffering, gentleness and goodness was the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our lives. I thought giving a cup of cold water in the name of a disciple was the fruit of loving your neighbor. I thought believing the best and building up the brethren was the fruit of grace. I thought that taking the blame for another man's guilt was the fruit of mercy'.

You say that you are always instructed by the Holy Spirit then you must bear the fruit of the one you are instructed by. You have chided others for not having the Holy Spirit and saying things that were not of God. You told imoss that she was saved and I ask you, do you say the same of me? Am I living in unrepented sin or am I confessed up to date with the sin I have been convicted of by the Holy Spirit and walking in the newness of life and in the will of the Father? Do you know if God has given me grace when I sinned to restore me in my walk and fellowship with Him? If I sin is it any of your business other then to love me and cover me and be led by God to restore me if that is necessary?

As a believer- priest we can approach God through the blood of Christ and be restored because Christ is our mediator and advocate. We don't point out people's sins when they fail, we point them to Christ so they can be restored by grace. I hope and pray that God would grant you repentance through His goodness, so that that you can go back and learn it all over again as a child, so that you can be rightly related to God through grace, through His mercy, through the love of the Spirit, through the comfort of the scriptures, through the fruit of the Holy Spirit, through unfeigned (pure) love for the brethren and through a sound mind and heart that is established in the grace and truth of Jesus Christ.

I often question wether I should be doing more. Most of those that i speak to know about Jesus. They are what I call the walking wounded. Because of bad expeariances they have walked away or reject Jesus compleatly. I try to witness by how I live, and love Jesus. My hope that by not judging or forcing. my faith will bear witness. I gently share when the oppertunity arises. Sometimes I wonder if I should be more agressive and have often prayed about it. A bruised reed he will not crush comes to mind. But with a sence of time is short I am beginning to question if I should do more. I can only trust in Jesus on this, he has never failed to give me the push when needed. So maby a little push is what I should do. God bless, pickles
Hi Pickle,
Your so true, what u said ,ur action can speak louder than words,I pray one day people will come to Jesus, seeing it through me,I 'm working n reading n searching to be a better soilder for God

You are the kind of person that God can use because your heart is after God. Every time we go out and witness by knocking on a door, speaking to people on the street or at work, passing a tract to a stranger, sending an email to a friend, writing a letter or whatever the case may be, and we mention the name of Jesus Christ, whether they receive what we have to say or not, God keeps a record of that time and writes it in a book and puts beside it, 'Well Done'. Every time we confess the name of Jesus Christ before men, Jesus Christ confesses our name before the Father in heaven (Mt 10:32) and when we get there we will hear, 'Well Done'.

We live our lives before men but unto God. The next time you meet a lost soul, think and picture in your mind all their sin being transferred to Christ on the cross and then picture them putting everything aside in their life and believing upon His name for salvation. If God has drawn them and their heart is ready, they will believe. If the seed has to be planted or watered then you have done it because of your faith and obedience. Then you can rest in the faithfulness and love of God for that person.
God bless u BLC

I personally disagree with this idea of living our lives is the best witness.

I believe the best witness is not how we live our lives, but to actually declare the Gospel.

If we make our lives to tbe witness, that is giving people the testimony of ourselves. But the Gospel is the testimony of Christ.
We don't want people to be looking towards us and expect to see Christ. At the extreme, you will appear to be one of those crazy Jesus freaks who cannot relate socially with other people, or they may not notice you living any different to a devote Muslim. At worse, if you life isn't that crash hot, when they look at your life they may see your mistakes and shortcomings, and not think very much of it.
If they look to your life only as a good example and testimony of Christ, and then you stuff up, and their hopes and faith is shattered, what then?

Complicated topic. You have so many issues to think about.

Am I doing what God wants?

Am I being obnoxious?

Is what I'm doing, doing more to harm the furtherance of the Gospel than advance it?

Is it necessary for me to be preachy and alienate everyone in my life simply because I'm called to "witness"?

I think one of the major concerns we should be aware of is the obnoxious factor. Christians have been known to do many things all in the name of witnessing. This may include things like preaching over and over to family members and friends who are clearly not accepting the message. Confronting people on their 'sin' every time they may say a word or action that you find offensive. Or simply pushing your faith down someone else's throat!

I know Jesus said the world will hate us because of him, but sometimes I wonder if the world hates some of us, simply because we're obnoxious and lack any tact in the delivery and timing of the Gospel.

I really can't define for YOU what is the proper balance between sharing your faith and just being totally obnoxious and annoying. You're the only one who knows the dynamics of your personal relationships. This is something you will have to wrestle with and work with on your own.
Hello 1still_waters,
thanks for ur opinon,I was watching a tv program, with kirk cameron,"the way of the Master ,its on tbn, excellent program, they quote so many scriptures,i have learned so much.but the way they witness on the show, they approach the person, ask them Heaven or hell?they usually say,Heaven I hope.then he asks,"Have u ever sinned in ur whole life'?n then they would say i think so.i'm not sure.he would ask "have u ever told a lie"?they would say YES,he'd say,"have u ever stoled something"?they say probably,He ask,"have u ever liked at a person with lust"?they say many times,He'd ask "Have u ever used God's name in vain"?they would say probably.than he'd say,Ok so far u have told that u r a liar, theft, adulterer, blasphemy,so tell me Heaven or hell, they usually say hell,he tells them that Christ died for ur sins,n if u repent n change from ur sinful ways,u will go to Heaven.
so what do u think abt this concept?
God bless
ur sister in Christ

Here is a quote from St. Francis of Assisi that may help:

"Preach the Gospel Always, and when necessary use words."

Declaring God's word while not living accordingly brings shame to the name of Christ. If we really want to be true witnesses for Christ we will do both, declare His and live a life of holiness.

That's true, but what I said was for those who think they can only just live a good life and expect people to be falling on their knees in repentance around them due to their perfect lives and little halo on their head. It doesn't happen like that at all.
There are moral atheists and godly muslims around who live great moral lives and are held in high regard by men. Some even more righteous than the average Christian (self-righteousness, of course). So the Christian is competing with these and thats why living a good life will not save many.

Even if our life doesn't match our words, and truly, I don't know many christians who are that perfect, we can still declare the Gospel as God's mouthpiece.

In the biblical concept of witnessing, witnessing does not mean testifying of what God has done in your life. It means witnessing the cross of Christ. And the early witnesses, the disciples, were real witnesses of Christ crucified, as they saw it with their own eyes.

When we say to someone "look what Christ has done in my life", they may reply, "yes, so and so Muslim has had the same or similar effect, or so and so Hare Krishna has found peace and joy in their life too".

I really can't except that,I'm sorry.I love to b called a Jesus freak,I am so proud.n if people can't handle it than I just pray for them,I think its a chicken way out for people like u.Jesus was put down n snared by many,Y shouldn't we be.the bible says u will no who the christians are,by their fruits.what we do for Jesus.witness is important, but don't push, tell them what Jesus did for them n God will do the conviction.God bless DJ
