I am guilty of this, so I am asking God to forgive me for behaving in an unbecoming manner. I will not participate in threads that cause divisions about believers of the faith. Subjects that are causing division, strife, anger and animosity.

[h=1]2 Timothy 2Holman Christian Standard Bible (HCSB)[/h][h=3]An Approved Worker[/h]14 Remind them of these things, charging them before God[a] not to fight about words; this is in no way profitable and leads to the ruin of the hearers. 15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who doesn’t need to be ashamed, correctly teaching the word of truth. 16 But avoid irreverent, empty speech, for this will produce an even greater measure of godlessness. 17 And their word will spread like gangrene; Hymenaeus and Philetus are among them.18 They have deviated from the truth, saying that the resurrection has already taken place, and are overturning the faith of some. 19 Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, having this inscription:
The Lord knows those who are His,[b] and
Everyone who names the name of the Lord
must turn away from unrighteousness.

20 Now in a large house there are not only gold and silver bowls, but also those of wood and clay, some for honorable[c] use, some for dishonorable.[d] 21 So if anyone purifies himself from anything dishonorable,[e] he will be a special[f]instrument, set apart, useful to the Master, prepared for every good work.
22 Flee from youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. 23 But reject foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they breed quarrels. 24 The Lord’s slave must not quarrel, but must be gentle to everyone, able to teach,[g] and patient, 25 instructing his opponents with gentleness. Perhaps God will grant them repentance leading them to the knowledge of the truth. 26 Then they may come to their senses and escape the Devil’s trap, having been captured by him to do his will.

wow! how could I have not seen this scripture? This is exactly what I have been saying in the bible discussion forums for a long but I didn't realize it was in the scriptures like this. You make our father proud by being wise about which discussions to go in:)

There is a difference between quarrelsome debates and bringing the Truth from God to the World.

2 Timothy 2:15
[SUP]15 [/SUP] Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

I agree we are not to strive about words, BUT, we are to bring the Word of Truth to these same people.

Thank You for posting this reminder.
I am very careful to not let my witness be destroyed with words that might cause any strife. Most of the time I am OK. When I do start to get frustrated. I check self, and back out.

An Approved Worker

14 Remind them of these things, charging them before God[a] not to fight about words; this is in no way profitable and leads to the ruin of the hearers.

As I have said before I will say here as this thread speaks volume of debates. It is my personal and strong belief that debating certainly has it's benefits if done in a Godly and mature manner. Even heated debates if one has the right heart can show the truth of a matter and can make one grow and become wiser and best of all grow closer to God. However there is a proper way to debate and one that is pointless, see if we are in a debate lets say a very heated one if there is nothing to learn nothing to be gained in that discussion then there isn't any point in being in that debate any more, if all there is is constant arguing and emotions continue to keep rising and we begin to not speak in loving manner any more then we need to know when to shake the dust off our feet and walk away.

there is a major difference between speaking God's truth edifying and learning and simply feeding on the high of heated debates arguing and simply have a war thread. If we cannot debate in a loving mature wise and Godly manner then should we be debating at all? Harsh words fueled with negative thoughts and emotions does no one any good and certainly does not bring glory to God and does not prove we are who we claim to be as Christians for Christians are called to be love above all else and this love shown in our posts and words shows whose heart resides in us. But words spoken in a peaceful and loving manner has the power to melt a frozen and dark heart
