I don't know the person well enough to judge if that was an overt mock or if he just hasn't been around Calvinists enough to know how we think. Maybe Calvinism is something new to him and he's trying to wrap his head around the concepts.

i get the impression that for a lot of people, the only things they know about reformed theology and the people who believe these things, they learn from their ((biased)) arminian preachers, and they live lives largely insulated from anyone who would upset the understanding they have of these things - an understanding preached to them which has been carefully crafted in order to be rejected in favor of the theology of those preachers who have shepherded them.
& vice-versa

i reckon the same thing can be said about a lot of points where thinkers differ.
which is partially why forum interactions like this are important; even though people argue and discussions fall apart, some things get laid out and explained in a way that if we stay inside one "bubble" or the other we would never hear, and never comprehend.

as far as this thread and the other go, and the intentions i'm inferring,
the other one: bait much?
this one: bait taken, bait returned in kind.

but the doors opened for a more serious talk ((once again))
or another quote-war that doesn't really edify anyone ((once again))

Kind of why I keep hoping for serious discussion instead of yet-another-argument. It happens, on occasion, fortunately.
