The denial of original sin has been named a heresy. It is called Pelagianism of which there are a few flavors that show up.

Pelagianism is the belief that original sin did not taint human nature and that mortal will is still capable of choosing good or evil without special divine aid.

https://www.britannica.com/topic/Pelagianism

Question: "What are Pelagianism and Semi-Pelagianism?"

Answer:
Pelagius was a monk who lived in the late 300s and early 400s A.D. Pelagius taught that human beings were born innocent, without the stain of original or inherited sin. He believed that God created every human soul directly and therefore every human soul was originally free from sin.

Pelagius believed that Adam's sin did not affect future generations of humanity. This view became known as Pelagianism.

Pelagianism contradicts many Scriptures and scriptural principles

Pelagius is the universal whipping boy of all sects of the beast of Christianity, but they know nothing about the man, and just regurgitate the baby-pablem of revised history...The man said he could do nothing apart from the grace of God...Might want to read his prologue to the book of Romans sometime..By the way, Augustine, the professed sinner, said that Pelagius was a holy man.go figure:confused:

This is a great answer for those who question or say that homosexuality is something some are born with... Thanks
furthermore, Jesus spoke of sin abundantly, and never once did He confront those and say its because you were born that way> surely He would have not overlooked that detail if it were true...But no, He addressed sin as a willful choice to rebel against God...He never once said to anyone; you know you are a sinner because you were born that way,,,Infact that notion is dismissed in the story of the young man and the pool of Salom...

The essence of the false doctrine of "saved by works" of which this sinless perfection in the flesh false doctrine is a flavor of and which says that God sends His beloved babies in Christ to hell is not the gospel of the grace of God in Christ.

Their own religion condemns them as they too sin from time to time and thus according to their "interpretation" of some scriptures - that makes them now a child of the devil.

It comes in many flavors and colors but it's core belief remains unchanged and it is a direct violation of the gospel of the grace of God in Christ's work on the cross and resurrection. It is always those that think our loving Father throws His beloved children into hell that come up with this doctrine.

All religions - including the religion of Christianity ( as there is a religion like this that tries to mimic the life of Christ ) - are really manifesting that they are eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil which has been set lose in this earth by Adam's transgression.

They are basing their life on what they do or don't do. They are attempting to establish their own righteousness by what they do or don't do. Good works and this sinless perfection in the flesh doctrine are an example of this.

We see the "descriptions" in the words and actions of Jesus and in the epistles of what the true Christian life looks like when Christ's life and His fruit are being manifested.

The religion of Christianity then takes these "descriptions" and tries to "dictate" to the believers the life of Christ or the fruit of the Spirit into being.

In essence they are trying to mimic or duplicate the life and fruit of Christ and at the same time "demanding" that others do the same thing or else they are not saved.

The true Christian life is Christ Himself joined as one spirit with us manifesting His love, His grace, His life in and through us. It is His fruit - without Him we can do nothing.

All works-based - works-righteousness belief systems ( including the religion of Christianity ) have this as their core essence and it really nullifies the true grace of God from operating in our lives like it should.

This is the "why" behind when people say we must do "good works". That is what the fruit brings behind the work-for-salvation mindset and to maintain and create righteousness.

The reality is - as we behold the glory/goodness of the Lord as in a mirror - we are transformed by the Holy Spirit and the life of Christ will manifest itself in the doing of good works and living a holy life as the fruit of being in union with Him.

We do good works because it is a fruit of being in union with Christ not "to be saved" Christ alone is our Savior.

Preach and teach the love and grace of God in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and Christians will have the proper nutrients to walk out what already is within them - which is Christ in us - the hope of glory
.

We live by His life in us now - Christ Himself is that tree of life. Notice it is not the "knowledge of the tree of life" ( like it is with the other tree - the knowledge of good and evil ).

We live by His life in us now.

It still shocks me that after alllllll the opportunities for people to hear the Gospel on radio, TV, books, preachers teachers, many Bible translations, many missionaries... that all proclaim the truth that Jesus brought of grace and truth that there are still those who read the Bible and insist on working twisting the amazing grace of God so to gain their own righteousness. Jesus gave us the gift of righteousness because we cannot attain it ourselves.

We are not sinners based on the fact we have sinned. We are sinners based on the fact that Adam sinned and sin fell on all men for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. We have a fallen nature. That has already been noted here and beautifully Scripturally shown here by Grace777. His evidences are clear and concise with applied Bible verses. To think a man or woman can work their way into God's heart is very pathetic. There is none that doeth good no not one... There is none that seeketh after God., they have ALL gone out of the way.

It took the Son of God to buy us back. You cannot buy yourself back., you don't have the credentials. It is Jesus the sinless spotless Lamb of God that had to come and pay the price for our sin. It's written all through the old testament. We can't try and fix the sin problem ourselves. Judas tried to atone for his own sin he felt so bad and hopeless that he denied Jesus. His remorse was so bad he killed himself in an attempt to atone somehow in his sin distorted mind as people today try to do. They try to work hard to be good enough. And when they keep seeing the sinfulness of their flesh they lose heart and do all kinds of emotional gymnastics to work it out with God. God is not interested in our ideas. He is only interested in His Son's right standing for us. Had Judas waited like Peter who denied Jesus he too could have been saved. But he instead tried to establish his own righteousness and killed himself by hanging himself. Giving his life didn't give him any standing. He is lost for eternity.

When you do that you will not see the truth because you are actually denying Christ when you do. God has given the remedy for sin. Should you chose to ignore Him., you will not defeat sin in your life but religiously uphold it in your works just like any other worldly religion no different than the Muslims or Jehovah Witnesses or even Islam. They are all about man trying to be good enough to meet God. Will never happen. Jesus came for that very reason.

2 Corinthians 5:21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Righteousness is a gift. You can't earn it by law keeping or behavior. It can only be received. We were born in sin, knew no righteousness, did no righteousness and have no righteousness. There is no rightness in us apart from Christ. When Jesus died on the cross He paid for our right standing by taking our place. Then when we accepted Him and received His gift., we were born again and made righteous given His righteous standing and born again in the Spirit. To try to by pass this process is to miss being saved. Jesus does all the saving.

that's true Zi; for centuries the church has been telling people they are born sinful, and now that the Sodomites are following suit by saying we were born that way, what can these apostate prophets say about it, because the Sodomites are just repeating what the preachers say....the apostate preachers have really painted themselves into a corner with this one...

So you believe you can solve your sin problem by establishing your own righteousness apart from the righteousness of Christ.
This is a doctrine apart from Christ because it upholds the righteousness of man apart from the righteousness of Christ.

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

I'm pretty sure john included himself in this truth when he used the term ours.

We are not sinners because we sin......we sin because we are sinners.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.

Again John using the word "we" to include himself.

There are 2 aspects to grace and it can be seen in Jesus dealings with a woman caught in adultery.

The very first thing that Jesus does with the woman caught in adultery is that He gets rid of her accusers - the religious Pharisees that wanted to condemn her because the "bible" said so in the Old Covenant...she was to be stoned. (
the law condemns us )

Jesus was the only one qualified to condemn her but He didn't.

1) acceptance grace - which has nothing to do with our behavior -
as seen with the woman caught in adultery. Our Lord beautifully says " I do not condemn you".

It is in knowing you are not condemned that releases the other aspect of grace.

2) now, go and sin no more - this is empowering grace.

Empowering grace enables you to be who the Father sees you are in Christ now because you are a new creation in Him.

The religious mindset says to the woman caught in adultery - 'Do not sin and we will not condemn you."

The grace of God and the blood of Jesus speaks of better things in this New Covenant of grace!

"Knowing" that we are not condemned in Christ "releases" the life of the empowering grace to transform us. It's all about Christ! It's His fruit being manifested in us!

Acceptance grace which is not based on our behavior needs to be cemented in our hearts before empowering grace is able to be manifested.

What believers in a self-effort/self-performance D.I.Y. holiness/righteousness based mindset and the self-appointed "fruit inspectors" have a very hard time with is the "acceptance grace" part.

This just drives them nuts and I understand why because it is scandalous and it "conflicts" with our religious man-made traditions and some church teachings from our denomination or "group".

True grace doesn't permit us to stay the same; after you know that you are not condemned - it empowers you to change.

Grace was never intended to allow us to keep on being the same as the true gospel of the grace of Christ is God's very empowerment through the life of Christ in and through us that transforms us - as we behold the glory of Christ as in a mirror - we see reflected back who we are in Him because we are one spirit with the Lord and the Spirit transforms us ( 2 Cor. 3:17-18 ) -

His life transforms us outwardly to reflect Christ that is in our inner man - created in righteousness and holiness. We "awake to righteousness and sin not". Awake means to come to ourselves - "to sober up, to come to one's true self."

When we see that we are called to the true life in Christ and we know we can't work it up and can't accomplish it in our own strength but we desire the His life in us to come forth - that's when empowering grace comes to make our faith a reality in our lives.

These are grumblers, complainers, walking according to their own lusts; and they mouth great swelling words, flattering people to gain advantage. But you, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ: how they told you that there would be mockers in the last time who would walk according to their own ungodly lusts. These are sensual persons, who cause divisions, not having the Spirit.

The Lord knew what you would become, what you would do, and who you will be. he knew all of this, before he went to the cross. And yet, he did go to that cross for you, for the joy set before him, because he knew that your future would be rewritten. ever question his love? look to the cross.

You are so wrong. as the scripture say, get knowledge, and above all understanding. there is nothing in the bible that states that God knew what you would become. You got God all wrong. God's will is no one should perish. that don't sound like a well script movie to me.

How the past is but a thief when it lays sorrow in the present. The truth of what once was hidden as like a skeleton in a closet. Yet here I am, to tell you that there is no need to have such a closet. Its time for renovations! The past as bleak and dark that it may have been, with past transgression is just that. The past. It is a thing behind us, but if we let it, it will rob us and others. Shame. Hindering us as we mope about, feeling as if in each encounter with another soul we must place a mask upon the real self. Not true. The past is not the present you, the shame you feel need not be!

You see, there is no confession that needs to be made. No dark truth to be revealed. It is not their business and neither is it yours. Do not occupy yourself with what you were, but occupy yourself with who you are. Today is a new day. The sins of the past forgiven, and nearly forgotten in that they should not hold a stronghold upon your identity in the present. Do not let what once was, rob what is now. What matters is the present. Who are you today? Where is your love today? Would you today act in the same way that you did then? Be not ashamed. That is no longer you.

Now, you may wonder how wicked your mind and heart may be, to think that just maybe you might act in the same way. Possibly you still struggle with sins of the past. Have hope! God sanctifies, He sets free and gives liberty! The things that bind you, He has the strength to unbind. The chains around you, He can break. Simply know that you have been made new. God loves you. You are His child. What struggles you have are but opportunities for Him to show you His greatness and mercy. Don't see your problems as hopeless, rather see it as an opportunity to see God's glory.

Rid yourself of shame. This day is, again, a new day. You are not your past, but are here in the present. Sanctified by God, ever growing. Do not identify with your past transgression, rather identify with who God has called you to be. Walk in that reality, as this is who He has created you to be. To love. So this day, this moment, be just that. Think not upon the darkness of what you were, but be in the present, presenting yourself as who you are now. Not then. Once more, if the present isn't who you'd like to be, have hope. God sanctifies. This is where peace settles in.
Normally I won't post in a thread like this. But I'm sorry, I'm going to be bluntly honest. This post is such a lie from the enemy.

1 John 1:9
If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

We all need to continue to confess our sins because we need a daily cleansing and forgiveness from our Heavenly Father. He is faithful to forgive and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Because Jesus has made full atonement for our sins, God lovingly restores His children and abundantly pours out his mercy and compassion on the repentant heart of the believer.

To not repent, the believer ends up reinforcing and building up a wall of separation between themselves and God. And a heap load of guilt ensues because of their lack of confessing to their Heavenly Father.

What you're claiming as freedom from guilt will only strengthen their guilt. The cleansing through confession releases us from guilt.

We are fully justified and there's no condemnation for those who are in Christ. That is our standing as a believer in Christ.

However, when we sin, it displeases God our Father and because He is righteous - He chastens those He loves when they sin.

To say that sin doesn't do anything is a bold lie. The difference is that we no longer have an angry judge, but we have a merciful Father instead whose love and compassion forgives us our sins.

Those whom the Lord loves He disciplines and He scourges every Son he receives. Hebrews 12:6. He does this because He loves us. It not only helps to rid sin from our life, but it also confirms that we are truly His child and He is truly our Father.

In 1 John 1:7 we read.......but if we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin.

The blood of Jesus His Son cleanses us from all sin literally means ...... the blood of Jesus His Son keeps cleansing us from all sin and it's the same in verse 9 - if we are continually confessing our sin He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Let's carry on and follow what the
word of God says to do and not what man might say or believe.

Check everything out with scripture because these are the last days and many will be twisting the truth of scripture or downright denying scripture. How did Satan try to tempt Jesus? He quoted scriptures out of context or twisted them for His own purpose. He did the same to Eve in the garden.

Put on your full armor church and don't allow the darts of the enemy to penetrate.

Scripture isolated can cause all sorts of opinions and traditions to be put in place:

If we pay attention to the ..we and our and the you in 1 John chapter 1 we will discover some great truths. These may conflict with some our church teachings and traditions.

"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we (believers - namely John ) have looked at and our hands have touched - this we proclaim concerning the Word of Life"

(I John 1:1).
In other words, John is establishing that he was an eyewitness to the fact that Jesus truly did come in the flesh. He did this to convince the Gnostics that Jesus was not an illusion.

"We( believers - namely John himself ) proclaim to you (unbelievers - gnostics ) what we have seen and heard, so that you (unbelievers - gnostics ) also may have fellowship with us ( believers ). And our (believers ) fellowship is with the Father and with His Son, Jesus Christ" (verse 3).

This verse says two things. First, John repeats the fact that he, the rest of the apostles and other people saw Christ in the flesh. He wanted the Gnostics ( unbelievers ) to realize that there were many people who could testify to the reality of Christ.

Second, he is saying that there are some people in the audience who were not in the fellowship with Christ.

( just like we do now in all churches....there are both types of people. Jesus said there would be tares in with the wheat amongst us )

"This is the message
we ( believers ) have heard from Him and declare to you ( unbelievers ):God is light; in Him there is no darkness at all" (verse 5).

John's message in this verse is clear: God is light and in Him there is no darkness. We are either in the light (saved) or in darkness (lost). Scriptures are full of this comparison between light (saved) vs. darkness (lost).

"If we claim to have fellowship with Him yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth." (verse 6).

In other words, if someone says he has fellowship with Christ, but is walking in darkness (lost), he is lying and not practicing the truth. The Gnostics ( not true believers ) claimed to be in fellowship with Christ (saved), and yet were actually living a lie and therefore weren't practicing the truth.

"If we ( believers )walk in the light, as He is in the light,
we ( believers ) have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, purifies us ( believers ) from all sin" (verse 7).

In other words, if we walk in the light (are saved) we have fellowship with one another and the blood of Christ cleanses us from all sin.

To put it another way, once we are saved, we are permanently in the fellowship because the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin.
The blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin because we are in Christ. This is always in present tense.

Therefore, we aren't forgiven because we confess our sins. We are forgiven because of what Christ did for us on the cross.

"If we ( John putting all of us in the same boat before coming to Christ ) claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us" (verse 8).

John is now addressing the belief the Gnostics had regarding sin because they didn't believe it was real and therefore believed they had no sin. The "we" John is using here refers to all people before coming to Christ including all believers too which "we" had to acknowledge at some point in our lives. It is called an "editorial we"

He is referring specifically to the Gnostics, who believed they were without sin. Because they claimed to be without sin, then they were only deceiving themselves and the truth (Jesus) was not in them.

However, verse 9 says that "if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

In other words, if the Gnostics were to confess they had sins, then God, Who is faithful and righteous, would forgive and cleanse them from their unrighteousness - the same as all true believers in Christ did - we said that we too were sinners and needed a Savior.

In the Greek language, the words "forgive" and "cleanse" mean past actions that have results today and will continue to have results in the future.

Also, the word "all" used in these verses means all. It doesn't mean that we are cleansed of our past sins and our past unrighteousness, it means we were cleansed of all our unrighteousness. And if God cleanses us from all unrighteousness, then we are cleansed forever!

We become a new creation in Christ - created in righteousness and holiness. Eph. 4:24

"If we claim we ( all of us were in this boat at one time ) have not sinned, we make Him out to be a liar and His word has no place in our lives" (verse 10).

Basically this verse is a repeat of verse 8. To put it simply, it means that the Gnostics can't claim to be without sin and yet be saved. John is saying that because the Gnostics claimed they had no sin, they were actually calling God a liar and therefore didn't know the truth.

The purpose of the first chapter of 1 John was to compare the truth of God to the error of gnosticism. John was addressing the Gnostics, who were deceived by their own teaching.

He wanted the Gnostics to understand that what they believed conflicted with what God said. He was not, however, addressing believers.

However we can all learn from all scriptures including 1 John 1 - I especially love the truth of verse 7 - the blood of Jesus continually cleanses us from all sin because we are in Him.

If there is not any sinning when we are walking in the light - why does the blood of Jesus cleanse us from all sin?

Amen so very true. To grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Grace teaches us how to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts., how to live soberly, righteously and Godly in this present world. These truths cannot be learned apart from the grace of God in Christ by the Holy Spirit.

There is so much to learn about the grace of God in Christ. It is the meat of the Word because it's not "the law" it's what has replaced the law in making man righteous before God. Giving man what he doesn't deserve and God doing for us what He doesn't have to do but does because of His love and grace on our behalf. Take grace as far as you can and you still can't understand it all. It takes the Holy Spirit to give us the "grace" to understand God's ways that are higher than our ways.
