Mankind is totally depraved since Adam sinned. Adam and Eve had only one choice to make, and made the wrong choice. But God, in His wonderful wisdom and love, provided through Jesus a way to heal the breach. But men today think they will of their own volition make the correct choice. Adam and Eve walked with God in the garden, and talked with Him. And they still made the wrong choice. Yet we think we will be different or better. Methinks we think too highly of ourselves. Read Ephesians 2: 8-10.
8 For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.
10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
We see in these verses that God has saved us and even the faith is not of ourselves. And the good things we do God has before ordained that we should do them.
We read in John 1:12-13
12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.
We see in these verses that we are not one of God's by ancestry (blood) as the Jews believed, nor of the will of the flesh (which is carnal) nor of the will of man (our freewill) but of God!
So in all humility and fearful gratefulness we are so thankful to God for saving us!
