Many people search for an identity
They ask, "What makes me, me?"
They search for who they need to be
Who they want to be and what can make them feel free
The problem you see, is that our identities
Aren't made up of dreams and aspirations
But instead, works and inspirations
But one must ask, "What inspires?"
Is it fame, fortune, building empires?
Or is it finding a relationship that never expires?
Maybe it's family and friends
Maybe it's the latest fashion trends
But all of these things come to an end
So what truly inspires us
For me, it's Jesus

For Jesus paid the price
And made the greatest sacrifice
He broke through all of the lies
And saved us all from the ultimate demise
He heard all of our cries
And even unto death, on the third He did rise

You may ask, "How does this inspire?"
Well, this I must say, He lit a fire
In my bones, In my soul that never goes away
Since my saving day, He has never left me astray
So with him I will forever stay

So what makes my identity?
Well, you may not see
It isn't made of dreams and aspirations
It isn't even made of works and inspirations
It isn't fame, fortune, or building empires
It isn't a relationship that never expires
It isn't family and friends
Not even the latest fashion trends
But my identity is defined by a love that never ends
A love only given by God above
My identity is defined by His gracious love
My identity lies within the Almighty He
For I know, He will never abandon me
