Beneath the waves I am, creation pities me,
For once I was a sailor victorious on life’s Sea;
I sailed with joy and peace, I sailed with great skill
And all that changed the day when doubt hopped in my ship.
It tore my sails apart; it punched a hole in the deck,
The ship that was once a wonder became a shameful wreck;
The horrors that followed this horror left me as a broken pot,
I searched hard for an ounce of courage, but couldn’t find a drop.
So there I was, hopeless until the savior dived below,
And on a cross He died for me, my sins He did atone
Yes, now I’m back on sea, and I’ll never sink again
Days of fear are over, no longer beneath the waves.
